They have a great menu here with many great dishes but sadly they put cornstarch in all their sauces to thicken them and they went a little overboard. Also the kitchen sent out everything at once not allowing us to enjoy a few dishes at a time. If I go there again, I will tell them my preference for thin sauces and when to bring out each dish. Nice surprise having authentic dim sum and Cantonese cuisine here in Stockholm downtown. Everything we ordered were delicious from different dim sum to stir fried rice noodles, flat noodles and congee. Highly recommend if you want authentic Cantonese dim sum. read more

We came here without a reservation one night hoping to try this place out and it was a miracle they had room for us! It was super busy but they managed to fit us in and the food was amazing. Absolutely delicious with excellent service. My buddy and I read about this in a restaurant guide we picked up from the airport and were really excited to try this place. Every dish that came out was brilliant in taste and creativity. Standout dishes were the salmon tartare, the crispy duck, and the udon noodles. This is a tapas restaurant so it was really great to try different dishes since they were all so small. I wish they opened up a location in Los Angeles, I've never quite had Chinese food quite like this before. read more

After checking Yelp, we found this place to have a late lunch. For some reason, we just can't eat on a normal schedule when traveling! We can't be the only ones, right? Anyway, we walked in and there's a sign that says "order at the bar" but it still wasn't clear if we sat ourselves too. So, we asked for a table for two and she gave us two menus, said to order at the bar, and sit wherever we'd like. So we grabbed a corner table outside which was perfect! Then I went inside, ordered for the two of us, then had to carry out two glasses of our drinks, our own bottle of water, two more glasses, and 2 packages of silverware. I didn't mind this and I think it's only during lunch on a weekend, but just something to know. Personally, I liked ordering and paying right away and grabbing our own table. It's almost fast food-like, but the food was nothing like that at all. We got a number to put on our table and our food was brought to us. We got 11 pieces of Dim Sum which were all very good, served with a special sauce. And we also ordered the udon noodles with beef. Again, very good! Prices were better than I had seen before, which is why I really don't mind doing some serve-yourself work. And tap water is free! Great value, awesome spot, definitely would recommend! This restaurant is located in one of the most touristy streets of Stockholm and as of such its easy to discard but that´s a huge mistake. I am so happy to have found a more than decent alternative in this part of the city, that I otherwise usually tend to avoid since it is very busy during daytime and extremely quiet by night. We tried five different asian tapas each & my favorites were the gambas with wasabicream & the scallops with asparagus & hot sauce. I have sensitive taste buds & the crispy duck made my eyes tear up & I had to ask for an extra napkin but it was all worth it. The tree different ice creams - sesame, green tea & red beans - that we had for dessert didn't taste like anything I've tried before. They proved to be a good way to neutralize the flavors. The service was nice & I liked that the dishes were served a few at a time & not all together. With that being said it would probably be enough with 3-4 tapas per person. The price per tapas ranges from 65-95 kr, which is fair when taking the quality of the ingredients and the effort put into the presentation of the dishes into account. read more

Stockholmers are spoiled when it comes to Chinese and east Asian restaurants. You will pretty much find one in every block, restaurants offering all you can eat buffets, noodle houses and hole in the wall sushi bars. Most of these are more or less "westernized" which unfortunately basically means a lack of passion and enthusiasm. But there are restaurants that actually have the little extra spark to their food that makes them stand out among the Stockholm Asians restaurants. For one of the best dining experience just look for the blue and orange sign Pong. The Pong chain of restaurants can boast with fifteen restaurants around Stockholm and they all offer the same excellent experience and high standard. If you want to take your experience further, a visit to Pong's recently opened restaurant Waipo won't disappoint you. The concept, apart from the high quality cooking and the passion for authentic Asians food, is to introduce the Stockholmers to the real deal - how the Chinese dine. In China you don't order one dish - you eat from many different dishes sharing with each other. Up till now this has been both expensive and tricky to do in Stockholm. Waipo calls it "Asian tapas" and this is a good description. You order from a menu a couple of dishes instead of one (three to four dishes are recommended) and the food is served to you as they are made. Order from the built-in iPad at your table (your order will immediately be sent to either the kitchen or the bar) or call on one of the friendly and helpful waiters. The food is outstanding. I have tried most of the dishes on the menu and the fireworks of flavors in my mouth is nothing I've experienced since my two trips to China. Okey, went here for the 8 courses meal which i prebooked to get a neat price. Waipo is right on drottninggatan so you cant miss it, unless you got to many drinks predinner. The place was pretty crowded when i arrived around 8pm a friday night so it was a good idea to book in advance. The concept is to share and care and the courses are served on a bigger plate which you then transfer to your own. Service started pretty slow and we got a table right next to another couple which involves to many ppl in the conversation when going private. We asked to get reseated and when the food was about to be served, we got reallocated to a separate table. The courses are farily big and easy to share, and i like the asian fusion cuisine. Once the food started to come, the kept a steady phase cleaning off and providing us with the next. Plates arent huge, but you get to try all different kinds of food, and the nice and ongoing phase makes you fill up in the end anyhow. Pricing is fair, and you can get a bottle of whine for cheap. The interior is new and fresh but not to uptight and there are several different table sizes. This is a good option and a different way to have a casual and fun dinner in the name of Asian fusion. If you go on a weekend, try to get your spot booked in advance, since you otherwise will end up waiting. read more

My family and I were in Stockholm for 4 nights and found this place while we were there. All the food we tried was delicious! We went just before 4PM and they gave us the option of ordering from the lunch or dinner menus since the change is a 4. We went with the dinner menu and had 4 awesome, tapas style dishes that we shared. The dumpling sampler we ordered was quite different, but definitely in a good way. Pumpkin, prawn, mushroom, traditional pork, and a spicy dumpling were included as well as a chili sauce and a garlic/soy sauce. For our main dishes we had the crispy chicken fillet with Sichuan pepper, beef noodle soup, and the chicken noodle soup. All were delicious with great seasoning! The crispy chicken was a little on the small side, but the flavor made up for it and the large portions of noodle soups was plenty for us to share and leave fully satisfied! read more

"Waipo" means "grandma" in Chinese as the 'Asian tapas' restaurant's website proudly boasts, but the food here is drastically different than anything I could imagine any grandmother whipping up (especially considering my grandma never considering plating a priority and definitely made sure I got more food than any of the small tapas portions here suggest). Nevertheless, Waipo is a pretty great restaurant close to the Kulturhuset and the central station for Stockholm. We did the Tasting menu, which included 4 courses plus an option dessert. The food was very thoughtfully prepared with a great mixture of textures and spices on each plate, and many of the meat dishes were phenomenal- I loved the tempura shrimp and a spicy ribeye. I wish I could say more about the specific dishes I had, but the tasting menu is not updated online. The service was decent-- the waiters generally left the table alone after presenting the food and describing the plate, but water pitchers on the table allow you to keep the conversation more intimate without a lot of interruptions (depends how often you like waiters checking on you). Great recommendations for wine pairings with the food. Price-wise it seems pretty standard for what I've noticed around Stockholm (probably 600 kronas per person by the end of the night) with most desserts around 110 krona and wine starting at 70. Came here with couple of friends to relax and have some good food with beer which is exactly what we did. Atmosphere is calm and nice as well as well decorated (modern style). We are around 4-5 sets of dim sum each (around 50kr each). Each of the set I had tasted very good and authentic, I didn't try anything off the menu but I can definitely recommend the dim sum! We were walking around the area and ran into this location, from the outside seemed busy and customers enjoying their time so we decided to eat here! We didn't have a reservation but that wasn't a problem, they say us down promptly even though it was busy. The four stars is for the wait in between sitting and getting our order taken to waiting for our order to be ready. We ordered a total 9 dishes which 3 of them came in an hour after ordering and the rest came another hour later. Food was awesome! We ordered the fried duck breast with peanut and coriander, the spicy ribeye, the shrimp prawns, four different kinds of dim sum (you cannot go wrong with any of the dim sum here) All in all, it was a great experience! Me and my entire family (including a picky sibling) loved it! We are all vegetarian and there were plenty of delicious options (I think we tried almost every single one). The dumplings are really good, but the star of the show was surprisingly the chow mein, a dish that is rarely spectacular at other places. We got a second plate because it was that good. This food was excellent. We had the 5 course regular dinner (for 2) and every dish was so tasty and well prepared---shrimp, 3 kinds of dumplings, eggplant and pork balls, followed by dessert. It's not a lot of food but quality reigned clearly over quantity ( and that's a warning to my American comrades who feel every meal should leave you bulging at the seams).
