If you're looking to splurge in Stockholm, and you enjoy Asian cuisine, specifically sushi, then I highly recommend this place. My boyfriend and I originally wanted to catch brunch at Berns Asiatiska, but we got there a little late and opted for lunch instead. My boyfriend, a sushi lover, opted for the Chef's Choice Nigiri and I believe his exact words were "best sushi I've ever had". Being a vegetarian in the states, but bending the rules when I'm abroad, Asiatiska's sushi was the first real sushi I've ever had, and I have to say if you're going to try raw fish for the first time, this is a GREAT place to start! I can't really comment on whether it was better than the rest since I have nothing to compare it to, but what I can say was that it was delicious! I had the Dakgangjeong, sweet 'n hot chicken with peanuts and deep fried ginger, which was SUPER good. The chicken was crispy and really well seasoned and the peanuts added just the right balance to the spice and deep fried ginger. I'm usually not a spicy food fan, but I'm glad I tried this because it was the perfect balance of hot, but not 'can't feel your mouth anymore' hot. Lastly, and probably most importantly, the dessert buffet, which can be added to any meal. Definitely leave room for dessert! There are so many great choices you're probably going to go back for a second, if not third, plate. There is something to satisfy everyone from the chocolate lovers to the fruit lovers to the vegans. All in all, while expensive, Berns Asiatiska, with it's gorgeous dining room and stellar food, is worth a stop while exploring Stockholm.

A beautiful space and wonderful foods. I tried beef and I should try Sushi and Sashimi next time.

I had the brunch buffet at 11:30 on a Sunday. The place is crowded, so book in advance and show up on time. The theme is asian cooking and they serve everything from sushi to chinese food. The buffet is luxurious and pricey (350 SEK), but OH. MY. GOD. I abolsutely loved it. I think I had 15+ oysters, 20 pcs of sashimi, I tried every dumpling and salad variety in the place. Everything was of high quality and felt like you could never manage to cook something similar in your life. I am definitely coming back. The dessert buffet was incredibly tasty as well. I like the tiny servings because then you can try the lot. On the minus side is the crowdiness of the tables in the big hall. It's difficult to zig-zag your way between all the guests when moving to and from the buffet.

Didn't dine at the restaurant but stopped by the bar on the upper floor on a Sunday. Cool atmosphere, but it was 80% males for some reason (which is atypical for Stockholm). The dance floor was a bit odd. A DJ playing and 4-5 people dancing while the rest stood around. The bartenders were good, they knew how to make a solid old-fashioned though. From the upper deck you can see the restaurant which looks really fancy. Perhaps the experience eating here would've been a lot better than just grabbing a drink at the bar. We only stayed for one drink before moving on to find a better place.

Super seen-and-be-seen vibe .. as in very cool/hip crowd, super busy, beautiful inside decor, but pretty bad food. Eh not my cup of tea. We shared - Gyoza: very mushy inside.. couldn't tell what was in it and it tasted ... not good. Was like a mashed interior? I just ate half of one. Also, you pay per piece. - grilled pulpo: if you like octopus and ceviche, this is good - flank steak with Korean tomato marmelade: we got this mainly out of amusement because we were curious about the sauce. Well cooked (medium rare ish) and I liked the sauce. Can kind of taste the Korean.. maybe it was some gochujang in there. I liked the last two, but my parents didn't like it / thought it was just okay. We were thinking of getting some sushi rolls, but we were sitting at the sushi bar (excellent seats in the corner .. could see everything) and the way the sushi chefs were preparing the rolls... it was not looking appetizing. Fish was all precut (a big no no in a good sushi place) and the guy was just sawing back and forth with his knife when precutting a literal block of fish (and storing it in a container after) .... and considering the price and atmosphere of the restaurant, hmmmmm...... nope. Nice attentive and friendly service.. but my dad did get a bit miffed because our waitress would keep interrupting him while we were having conversation.

This is a gem! All parts of the breakfast had the extra touch to it. The personnel was great! To this you should add the extraordinary interior taking you back in time. We were with the family, however it works for every occasion. We'll be back:)

#1 reason to lunch here...desert buffet!

We were given a standing table when we got in, but quickly moved to a couple of seats by the bar. We were one of 8 couples at the bar, so yes, very date night vibes. For our first round of drinks, we got the Easy Martini and Let them Eat Cake. The latter was too sweet for our liking but the Easy Martini had the perfect amount of sweet and tart. Our second round was the winner with the Girl Dinner and their Old Fashioned. The Girl dinner was crafted to perfection and possibly the best version of a martini we've ever had. The old fashioned too, made with WhistlePig 10 years was fantastic. The service cannot be faulted, we profusely thanked the lovely bartender, vowing to crow about it to whoever cares to listen and to be back when we are in Stockholm next.

Just amazing...Perfect soundtrack. Sat at the bar to watch the crew, which builds drinks with a bit of panache & showmanship. Started with their Whisky for the Holy Ghost and it was in fact a religious experience: Ghost bourbon, amaretto, Maurin Quina, bitters, salt and served in a chilled corked flask topped with smoke that lingered and really added to the ceremony & taste. My fellow penitents had tasty espresso drinks. It was the second round, however, that was truly memorable. I asked the mad genius behind the bar to concoct an extemporaneous "riff on a Sazerac." Maybe lost in translation, and ended up with more a riff on a vieux carre, but what a riff it was! Michters Rye, calvados in lieu of cognac, a healthy dose of some kind of floral bitters, a few other bitters and a sazeracky absinthe spritz. Enter Penny & Bill! This cocktail bar features a rich, deep, and extremely well thought-out menu of very interesting cocktails. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable, and will be happy to talk to you about their creations, which have been helpfully sorted into informative categories like "Herbal & Punchy" and "Short & Fresh." Even classic cocktails, like the gimlet, are jazzed up with interesting ingredients (for example, their extremely popular Aperol Spritz features Suze and orange cordial in addition to aperol and champagne). Stockholm is an expensive city, but my drinking companion and I ended up ordering three cocktails each. We ended up with a bill of about a hundred US dollars, and after confronting $14 beers and $17 glasses of wine all over the rest of the city, we honestly felt like we got something of a bargain. I'd recommend this bar to anyone coming to Stockholm, especially as many of the city's very elite restaurants are nearby. It's a great place to wait for your reservation, and you'll end up saving money off what you would have spent on ludicrously marked up wine at your restaurant. I'd note that this bar is a little more on the "upscale" side and I felt slightly out of place in my flannel shirt. You certainly don't have to wear a suit but I myself wish I'd at least had a smart shirt. Great bar and will absolutely be back if I return to Stockholm! Great music too!

We passed several days in Stockholm drinking incredibly expensive glasses of wine with our meals, so we were thrilled to visit Penny & Bill on our last night in Stockholm. I'd put Penny & Bill on my to-visit list after reading about it in Eater Stockholm, and I feel like Eater undersold this place! The decor is Instagram-perfect (jewel-tone hunter green with mauve accents and lots of brass trim), and the aesthetic is so on point, from the music to the coasters to the bathroom -- the atmosphere sets the tone for the elegant, inventive, and diverse menu of cocktails. Whether you're a cocktail novice (as it seems many Stockholmers are) or a seasoned mixologist, there's likely to be something that suits your tastes; the menu is grouped into categories of mood/flavor to help steer you in the right direction. One thing I thought was interesting -- and probably a function of the cocktail-trepidation of the Swedes around here -- is that every cocktail costs 168 kroner, presumably so you'll choose by taste rather than price point. Penny & Bill is very committed to introducing people to cocktail culture, and they have lots of accessible concoctions on the menu that allow you to taste the familiar with a twist (e.g. the not-your-average espresso martini or their gussied-up Aperol spritz). I ordered three cocktails, all expertly made by a lovely and extremely knowledgeable bartender, and since tax/tip are included, these three drinks ran about $50 USD, which I think is very reasonable since I'm used to NYC prices. Please, please add this to your Stockholm itinerary; it's an amazing hidden gem and I hope more people discover it!
