    N38 Carbonara sooo good
    Emily K.

Super belated review! I really enjoyed my dinner at Nybrogatan -- the service was friendly and the food was good. I especially enjoyed the carbonara! We ordered the cauliflower dish but it had too much roquefort IMO. (I'm not someone who LOVES blue cheese.) Random, but the BUTTER served with the free bread was so. good. Like wow. FYI they close for a bit transitioning into dinner service, but the bar remains open if you want to enjoy a drink! The interior is nice, dimly lit during dinner time, and they have an extensive drink/wine list. I initially wanted to dine here for brunch though, so if I'm ever in Stockholm again, I would definitely come back to try some of their morning fare :) [22/100]

Truffle mac n cheese and traditional Swedish fish dish. Both appetizers (obvi). Also glass of Bordeaux

Extremely friendly service, a local favorite, great place for groups, dates, families, you name it. Great variety of cocktails to choose from, as well as bubbly and wines. I bet you haven't had truffle mac n cheese like how this place does it. It's amazing. So good you must savor every bite! There's actual truffle shavings on top. The pasta, cheese, every single ingredient just tasted amazing and it's so worth getting. I decided to try a traditional Swedish fish dish here. It was a variety of fish, roe, a mayo like sauce on top of toasted bread. Sort of like a bruschetta. I can't remember the exact name but it's a tradition and I'm glad I tried it. With that being said, I wouldn't order it again. It was the saltiest thing I have EVER had in my life!!! I struggled to finish and the bartender even warned me beforehand, that most people will like it or not so much.. he was super nice to even give me a basket of bread to ease the copious amount of salt that's in that fish. Speaking of bread, get their bread basket! The variety of breads is delicious, there's some pound cake like bread, a flat toasted crisp one, a couple sourdough, rolls, etc. When fine dining in Sweden, you really should try even the simplest things because you'd be surprised at how fresh/different it tastes from the states.

    The bread basket and tea!

I really enjoyed this place. The fresh and delicious bread (and cracker) basket set the tone for my experience. My pot of black tea was excellent, and so were the poached eggs. Service was also very good. I'd be happy to come back here!

Swedish veal meatballs that you won't find in IKEA!
    Philip N.

So we all know IKEA, and I have been a long-time fan of the Swedish meatballs. Now I got to try the real deal in a pretty cozy setting. You can sit outside and inside. There is a bar area which is comfy if you are alone or with a friend. Inside there is also table seating. Service is great overall - the swedes are very friendly. The hostess didn't really have much patience for my humor, but I won't hold that against her. I ordered the Swedish meatballs and a Swedish IPA called "Amass". Both were fantastic but the meatballs stole the show, hands down. I would be back here just for the food. Coincidentally I was here with a friend 2 nights ago and we had the charcuterie - also very good. Highly recommended.

Main dish, salmon with mashed potatoes.

Very friendly and helpful staff. What we first noticed was the excellent bread that was served at our table, the dark bread was very juicy and had much flavor. We got a few extra slices upon request. Our dinner consisted of one orange flavored duck with mashed potatoes and second dish salmon. The duck was very tender and perfectly prepared, as well as the salmon. Both dishes were very tasty. Price level for two mains were around 350 sek altogether. Restrooms located on the bottom floor, clean, modern no complaints.

The best burger in Stockholm, hands down!

Last night I finally ate dinner here. And it was SO worth the wait! Delicious, beautiful food, very inventive menu, unbelievable flavor profiles, exceptional service, & a damn fine wine selection. Loved it, & highly recommend! Oh, & an awesome bar. Go. Soon.

Nybrogatan 38 is one of my favourite eateries in Stockholm for a casual meal. The restaurant is not far from the city center and the ambience is relaxed and happy. Additionally, during sunny days you can sit outside and enjoy some crowd watching - always a fun idea. For breakfast, brunch and dinner Nybrogatan offers a menu with a lot of alternatives to reasonable prices. A tip (for dinner) is that you can order a few small dishes if you are not that hungry, as for example mac and cheese with lobster, bacon-fried dates or why not gratinated snails? Also, they have a good breadbasket. If you visit this place you need to try the date bread with pumpkin seeds - yummers. Moreover, I am of the believe that this restaurant serves one of the most price worthy lunches in Stockholm. For quite a while my office was located only a few street numbers away from this neighbourhood bistro. This led to numerous of great lunches here and I never got disappointed. Another thing I worship about this place is their chambre séparée. It's a wonderful chamber to gather friends (up to 14) completely separate from all other guests, where you can play your own music and so forth. Sometimes it can become a bit wildly down there, so thumbs up to the staff which despite this always welcomes you with a smile!

    Delish!

I was in town briefly before a conference in Finland, and a friend of a friend, recommended this place. The service was attentive and welcoming. The wine selection was plentiful and my pour (a crisp, summer rosé) was superb. Best of all, the food was exceptional. Delicious breads with butter, plenty of salad and small plate options and the entrees were diverse and creative. I went with an arctic char with a cauliflower purée and crispy shallots--divine! I highly recommend this spot

Love this place; came for cocktails and small bites and they were great. If you like sweet cocktails, you'll like Paperplane and the licorice based Ki-osk velta is even sweeter (reminded me a bit of White Russian) the gratinated chevre cheese with grapes and nuts was delicious; could've gone for two of them. Service was great; I came for omelette with creamy mushrooms the next morning. Absolutely delicious and it's nice that this place has free wifi

The place is good. Food, service and the audience up to the highest standard. Be aware: the breakfast is till 10:30. We were not lucky one day: late just for 1 minute and a guy at the reception refused to serve us

We were given a standing table when we got in, but quickly moved to a couple of seats by the bar. We were one of 8 couples at the bar, so yes, very date night vibes. For our first round of drinks, we got the Easy Martini and Let them Eat Cake. The latter was too sweet for our liking but the Easy Martini had the perfect amount of sweet and tart. Our second round was the winner with the Girl Dinner and their Old Fashioned. The Girl dinner was crafted to perfection and possibly the best version of a martini we've ever had. The old fashioned too, made with WhistlePig 10 years was fantastic. The service cannot be faulted, we profusely thanked the lovely bartender, vowing to crow about it to whoever cares to listen and to be back when we are in Stockholm next.

Just amazing...Perfect soundtrack. Sat at the bar to watch the crew, which builds drinks with a bit of panache & showmanship. Started with their Whisky for the Holy Ghost and it was in fact a religious experience: Ghost bourbon, amaretto, Maurin Quina, bitters, salt and served in a chilled corked flask topped with smoke that lingered and really added to the ceremony & taste. My fellow penitents had tasty espresso drinks. It was the second round, however, that was truly memorable. I asked the mad genius behind the bar to concoct an extemporaneous "riff on a Sazerac." Maybe lost in translation, and ended up with more a riff on a vieux carre, but what a riff it was! Enter Penny & Bill! This cocktail bar features a rich, deep, and extremely well thought-out menu of very interesting cocktails. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable, and will be happy to talk to you about their creations, which have been helpfully sorted into informative categories like "Herbal & Punchy" and "Short & Fresh." Even classic cocktails, like the gimlet, are jazzed up with interesting ingredients (for example, their extremely popular Aperol Spritz features Suze and orange cordial in addition to aperol and champagne). Stockholm is an expensive city, but my drinking companion and I ended up ordering three cocktails each. We ended up with a bill of about a hundred US dollars, and after confronting $14 beers and $17 glasses of wine all over the rest of the city, we honestly felt like we got something of a bargain. I'd recommend this bar to anyone coming to Stockholm, especially as many of the city's very elite restaurants are nearby. It's a great place to wait for your reservation, and you'll end up saving money off what you would have spent on ludicrously marked up wine at your restaurant. I'd note that this bar is a little more on the "upscale" side and I felt slightly out of place in my flannel shirt. The decor is Instagram-perfect (jewel-tone hunter green with mauve accents and lots of brass trim), and the aesthetic is so on point, from the music to the coasters to the bathroom -- the atmosphere sets the tone for the elegant, inventive, and diverse menu of cocktails. Whether you're a cocktail novice (as it seems many Stockholmers are) or a seasoned mixologist, there's likely to be something that suits your tastes; the menu is grouped into categories of mood/flavor to help steer you in the right direction. One thing I thought was interesting -- and probably a function of the cocktail-trepidation of the Swedes around here -- is that every cocktail costs 168 kroner, presumably so you'll choose by taste rather than price point. Penny & Bill is very committed to introducing people to cocktail culture, and they have lots of accessible concoctions on the menu that allow you to taste the familiar with a twist (e.g. the not-your-average espresso martini or their gussied-up Aperol spritz). I ordered three cocktails, all expertly made by a lovely and extremely knowledgeable bartender, and since tax/tip are included, these three drinks ran about $50 USD, which I think is very reasonable since I'm used to NYC prices. Please, please add this to your Stockholm itinerary; it's an amazing hidden gem and I hope more people discover it!
