I admittedly love and frequent the Pokeworks location just down the street but decided to give Waikiki a try for lunch on a warm spring day. I absolutely love that you can order on a tablet - no speaking to anyone required! It's much easier to customize your poke bowl that way because you can see all of the options and just tap on your choices, instead of having to point and yell over a partition like at other places. We got two custom bowls along with a Waikiki smoothie to-go. Our order was ready in about 10 minutes, and we ate it at a nearby park. The ingredients were all fresh with good portions, and the smoothie was a refreshing, tropical accompaniment. After lunch, we felt satisfied and ready to take on the rest of the day! I was excited to see another poke bar was opening in Davis and couldn't wait to try it out! The interior is simple and welcoming, the staff are super kind and helpful, and the ingredients are fresh and delicious. The serving size for the poke bowl isn't too insane and everything tasted amazing. I have been waiting forever for this place to open, I love poke and bowls in general. The dining room is sunny and spaced out, great coffee shop feel and very clean. The menu is extensive, if slightly more than I wanted to pay - $14+ for a medium / average sized bowl. The ingredients were fresh and high quality. Where they lost one star for me was a combination of flavor and process. I didn't find that there was a lot of flavor to the bowl overall. And my favorite part of poke or any meal like this is getting to go down the line of the food bins and saying - "what kind of seaweed is that" "can I try a little of this other thing" etc. Here, you have to do your entire order at the register and can't add anything as you go. For this reason, I'll probably stick to PokeWorks more where I can make my own ideal combination and have some fun with it while ending up with flavors I love. But if they change this model, I would definitely give it another shot! read more

Great place if you are in the mood for some poke. Although there might be the run of the mill Pokeworks not too far from this place in Davis Sq, the bowls were definitely above average. The ingredients were very fresh and ordering was a breeze with any customization you want. I ended up getting a salmon bowl with myriad of veggies and spicy aioli sauce. It was a good amount of fish and the amount in general filled me up pretty well. You have the option of ordering in person at the front or order from the kiosks. Overall, the service is quick and you don't have to wait too long for your food. All the prep is done in front of you so you know what you are getting. This is mostly a take out place but if you wanted to sit down and eat your poke while fresh you definitely have options for seating in the restaurant. This review is only for the lychee passion fruit black tea with boba. It only comes in one large size and is almost $8. As I take my first sips, I find myself crunching on something and ask a counter person what it is. It's passion fruit seeds! How interesting and different for me. I'm not sure about this but with each successive sip, I find myself really liking this drink. The bitterness of the tea coupled with the sweetness of the fruit and boba along with the crunch from the passion fruit seeds really made this a fun drink. When I returned home, I had to make an unexpected trip to the bathroom for a bowel movement. This rarely happens to me midday. So, I Google, passion fruit and diuretic, suspecting that was the case, and learned why I had to go! read more

This is the best quality of ingredients that I have had in the Greater Boston Area. I am sooo happy that I have found a new spot. My boyfriend and I both had custom bowl options delivered through DoorDash. It came so fast! The Spicy Shoyu Ahi Tuna was the star of my dish and I loved the options for the toppings. I also enjoyed the combo of the spicy mayo and the Waikiki Classic sauce. My boyfriend had a Tuna and salmon bowl with the shiitake mushroom protein add on option. He concurs that the Spicy Shoyu Tuna was legendary and his favorite part of the both. We also loved that they offer rolls as well and we each ordered a spicy tuna avocado roll. The location is also generally clean and well-kept (though it's new enough that it'd be surprising if it weren't!) At around 14-15$ a bowl, I'd have liked to see slightly larger sizes, but it was a satisfying lunch size. The toppings were generally good-- the pickled radish and carrot were especially delicious! I liked that I could overload and pick a lot of different toppings at no extra charge (though I'm sure they give smaller amounts). The rice was also good. Went to Waikiki for lunch with some friends and really enjoyed the poke! Good size chunks of raw fish and the portions were good for hungry teenage guys. Many of the featured bowls have some heat to them, but as with most poke, it's very customizable. Many of the standards are available, including sriracha mayo and teriyaki. I particularly enjoyed the Hawaiian Bowl, which has a tangy, fruity sauce that goes well. We tried a couple of the maki rolls, and I liked the Temptation Roll, which contains shrimp tempura, mango, and avocado. They also serve iced fruit teas, milk teas, and smoothies, which were pretty good. Some of the teas are topped with "cheese foam", whatever that is. I didn't touch that but my friend seemed to like it just fine. Their post-pandemic prices were quite reasonable, but I wouldn't call it inexpensive. The roll was delicious other than the sauce that I found far too sweet, but that is my fault for not reading the description lol. Poke bowl: I liked the add-in options and the fact that you can get half rice and half spring mix for the base. The protein portion is decent. The main reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because they gave no sauce for the poke. (I had asked for sauce on the side.) Tea: The grapefruit jasmine tea was good and it's pretty large and made with fresh fruit, but I still think it's rather expensive ($6.55). Also, the bowls are compostable which is nice. First time. Came in before lunch on a Saturday with a toddler, parents and grandparents. It was so much fun to be able to order exactly what we wanted. Grandpa, hard to please, was very happy with the ability to choose his bowl ingredients. I tried a Hong Kong milk tea with boba and regular milk (instead of the traditional evaporated milk) thanks to some help from the staff. It felt great getting sushi in such a wonderfully clean place. I'm so sad to report that this poke is the worst I've ever had. Big hard chunks of sub par veggies, sauce and fish are meh. Nobody wants knuckle-sized peeled cucumber bites in their poke, cmon now!! Crunchy mango and hard avocado is also a bad sign. Also, I made the mistake of ordering bubble tea, and oh gods, it is bad. But the straw and bowl seem to be compostable, so, great? The staff are perfectly pleasant, and it isn't crowded, so the wait was short (hint hint, oof). All ordering is on screens, so minimal contact, yay. But I don't think I can finish this bowl or the tea, and it was not cheap. My fault, I should have picked up the vibe, in retrospect, the writing was on the wall (the big glossy screen, that is, never a good sign). There are so many good or decent poke places around, this one doesn't have a chance, unless they up their game. I hope they do! read more
