    Salted caramel ice cream

I came here with my parents as a last minute decision and I have to say, we really enjoyed it! I had been to a Wahaca before, as had my mother, however it was a new concept for my dad, but he enjoyed it which was good! We decided to share 6 small plates between us. We opted for the Chicken Tinga Taco, Smoky Chicken & Avocado Tostada, Sweet Potato & Feta Taquito, Chorizo & Potato Quesadilla, MSC Battered Cod Baja Taco and the Summer Pea & Mint Empanada. All of the food was piping hot when it arrived, (apart from the Chicken & Avocado Tostada as its meant to be cold), and it arrived at different times so you could tell that it had been freshly assembled. The food was delicious and my favourite was the MSC Battered Cod Baja which actually tasted like the fish taco I had in Mexico! I also loved the Wahaca own brand sauce which was spicy but not so as toblow your head off (although I have a very high tolerance for spice so others may find it spicier)! For dessert we had Churros y Chocolate and the Salted Caramel Ice-Cream. Both were divine and absolutely delicious. And actually they both complimented one another! The churros were also piping hot and fresh. The only thing I will say is that the service wasn't great. It took us ages to actually get a waitress to come over and take our order (and the restaurant wasn't even that busy), and I asked them for tap water and it never turned up which was annoying. Another great thing I had never utilised but LOVED was the app! All you have to do is download the Wahaca app, add a card, put the location of your Wahaca and your table number in it and your bill will pop up on your phone allowing you to pay your bill without having to flag your waiter/waitress down! I thought that this was great! If I go back to a Wahaca, I will definitely be using this feature again!

This restaurant has become a personal inspiration for me. They serve authentic non compromising Mexican food for the masses. The homemade bottles Hot sauces were amazing and so well balanced- sweetness of the chipotle sauce and the rich deep burn of the arbol. Service was impeccable. Food was delicious and affordable to try lots of different things (we had it all, tostadas, tacos, taquitos, empanadas!!) Special kudos to The bean tostada! Only minor thing is I'd like to see a much better tequila menu... Otherwise- these people hit it on the mark!

Distinctly average, underwhelming and "nothing special". Nowhere near authentic ( been to Mexico numerous times and several eateries in the US bordering Mexico). I was willing to give Wahaca a second chance having had a reasonable experience on the South Bank. The second experience solidified my opinion. Nothing to write home about. Surprising (to me) given it is the baby of the 2005 MasterChef winner. For me, the food looks the part but really fails to deliver on flavour. All the right ingredients are on the menu though, I just don't know how they combine all the constituent parts to be so bland. We had fish tacos which were light on fish, heavy on batter and smothered in mayo. What made the experience worse was the waiter, who, was maybe trying to hard to be helpful and almost insisted on having us eat the food we wanted in the order he thought we should. In Wimbledon at least, there are 2 other places where for a fraction of the cost you can get a better (tex)-mexican feed. Chipotle up the hill and Tortilla, which unfortunately for Wahaca is just across the road. #StyleOverContentExperience

This is a nice Mexican restaurant. Fast service and friendly staff. Not Lange positions but very nice.only down side is it's a bit noisy on the music side which is a bit of a pian when you are having good food and would like to have a chat with your friends.

Second time in Wahaca, different branch, It was okay. I like how quickly you're served, the food was nice (I had the grilled chicken on green rice and some tortilla chips with salsa), nothing to shout from the rooftops but better than the 'mexican steak' I had in Soho. My friend had a chicken burrito she wasn't particularly impressed with either. I will have to give the size-bite tacos they do a proper try if we ever go to wahaca again as they seem to be what the place is renowned for but I'm yet t give them a go. Prices are really affordable, which is always a plus. The place is colourful and noisy, I like the layout of this branch's seating plan, there are some nice family booths. We were seated immediately and served promptly. My second drink was forgotten and there was a mix-up with our bill (promptly rectified). I can't think of any better word to describe this place other than 'okay'. It's an okay place.

Aside from the great food one thing I love about Wahaca is the chilled out atmosphere and bright themed decor, and the Wimbledon branch is no different, we arrived at 8pm on a Tuesday to a surprisingly very busy restaurant but was still greeted with quick and cheerful service that I have always received. As I mentioned the majority of Wahaca's menu is made up of various smaller dishes allowing plenty of variety for meal options, new dishes are always popping up and specials are added for different occasions. We pondered the menu over cold Coronas while snacking on tortilla chips with chunky ripe guacamole (£4.45) , it was during this time that I noticed, quite loudly and delightfully that they had brought back the pea and mint empanadas (£4.25) to the menu - seriously these little hand held pies of joy are a gift from above. Even if you are not vegetarian make sure you add these to your dishes. I strayed way from my usual sweet potato and feta tortillas and instead opted for the new toasted cornbread with chipotle honey butter and whipped goats cheese (£3.50), the honey butter sauce was delicious and the perfect accompaniment to the goats cheese, however I did find the cornbread slightly too heavy and the sweetness of it reminded more of a dessert. My boyfriend opted for devon crab and shrimp taquitos (£4.95), considering he is not the biggest fan of fish based food he really enjoyed the full flavour which was offset by the tangy habanero slaw & fresh tomato salsa drizzled over the top, following this he went for grilled steak tacos (£4.50) that he did however feel lacked a slight amount of flavour but there is an option to add crisp grilled cheese as a topping, which I think would enhance and create different flavour. Then finally he decided on ancho chicken tacos (£4.25), chicken marinated in a sweet smokey ancho chilli sauce topped with habanero mayo. Incase you had not guessed, my boyfriend is most definitely not vegetarian, which is another reason I love Wahaca, there are so many options for both veggie and meat eaters, meaning there is not compromising on menu choices for either party.

Hey have a pretty good deal - £6 burrito that includes a soft drink. It wasn't very busy but it did take about 5 min to come out. I guess I'm used to burrito bars where most of it is already made. Donde está el sabor? Sadly the burritos I make at home with the kits have more taste. It's presented very nicely and surely they use nice ingredients but sadly when you mostly taste the melted cheddar cheese or sometimes the plain rice - it does deserve a one or two star review. I had to drown it in the jalapeño sauce. When you have places like Tortilla that's considerably fast food and tastes really nice - probably wouldn't come back here for the food. I always want independent places like this to do well but sorry do they know what Mexican food should taste like?

I personally stick to the burritos, which are available in a number of flavours - then you chose between vegaterian, beef chilli or chicken. My usual order is the large chicken Americana burrito-and I normally have enough left over for lunch the next day. They used to serve steak as a filling but sadly this has been dropped from the menu-I will have to lobby them to try and get it back! Several excellent salsas are available, served with home made authentic nachos-nothing like the Dorito style chips you buy in the supermarkets. In my opinion the best salsa is the Calexico (which is not as hot as its three chili rating suggests). Other dishes include tacos, quesadillas, taquitos, and my wife's favourite the chicken tostida salad (served in a massive crisp tortilla). They can also deliver Ben and Jerry's ice cream, Oreos, and Mexican or Spanish beers. They used to have a branch in East-Sheen/Mortlake, but sadly this has closed down, and apparently the business was sold. However, the new owners still seem to be doing an excellent job so I still highly recommend Mexifresh. I have not visited the Wimbledon premises in person - but the Sheen branch was more cafe style rather than a full blown restaurant. All in all I'd say this is the best Mexican takeaway in South West London - recommended if you like Mexican food.

Unfortunately, that's the best bit of this breathtakingly adequate restaurant. We visited on a Sunday- the only other clientele were families - we were unsure why until the food arrived. Our servers were lovely, fast and attentive. In fact, the food came out suspiciously quickly! Perhaps because it was quiet. But highly commended on the staff. The food though - oh, the food :( . Bland, bland, bland. Guacamole with no flavour, which is quite the achievement. Fish tacos with fried battered fish pieces from the freezer, "burritos" that are actually enchiladas because they're covered in sauce (and still bland). Soft, bland corn chips - It's all fresh - but Tex Mex should be bursting with flavour. I assume this was why it was popular with kids. So perhaps the drinks are great. Maybe it's an off day. But given its apparently rebranded recently and the less than glowing previous reviews, I'd assume not. Such a shame as parts of it are killer - nice staff, great decor - but the food is sub-TGI Fridays. So no mas for us, I'm afraid. What do you do?…read more a) Order takeaway from the completely acceptable though perhaps uninspiring Chinese? b) Call up Dominos pizza yet again? c) Get Mexican delivery from a slightly dubious (see picture http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz_photos/rp50JE2QEttRhKu5wY8eSA?select=mokT88GzXBwVmfcCPkxNlA ) establishment in Wimbledon? If you answered "c", then you're well on your way to what I like to call "American dirty-Mexican food satiation". But let me explain this statement. The food I got from Mexican Fresh was far from dirty (-adjective 1. soiled with dirt; foul; unclean. 2. undesirable or unpleasant), but it was "dirty" in that it was real; it was unpolished; it hit the spot, if you will. Sure, the burrito I ordered had black beans in it instead of the pinto beans advertised on the menu. Sure, the tacquitos were a bit too bloated in a puff-pastry sort of way. But these items were fresh, honest and damn tasty. The Holy Grail of Mexican food in London, this is not. But with the menu offering a plethora of taqueria options, you better believe that I'll be phoning up on more Friday nights in the future to order some tacos and quesadillas. Or maybe an "americana burrito" (the only one with rice in it, bahahaha!! stick it, California!). A suggestion, though: make your own guacamole and give the gauc from Mexican Fresh a big pass. I got it and was sorely disappointed to find that it resembled more of a salsa fresca that looked green than it did some delicious calorie-laden guacamole. Order the homemade corn tortilla chips, by all means, but if you order the guacamole to accompany them don't say I didn't warn you.
