Wasn't expecting to eat Mexican food while in London but we did. It was a spur of the moment decision but we were seated right away without reservations even with a full house. Food here is served tapas style so don't expect big portions. Service was quick and friendly and food was surprisingly good! It was just us two so we ordered from the shareable menu. We started off with cocktails first -- mojito for him and a jalapeno cucumber sptitz for me! Drinks were strong so I just stuck with just that one. Pico de gallo chips were delish.. again it's tapas style but enough to tithe us over before the main course. We shared the grilled antioche sea bass that was served on a banana leave. The sweetness of the charred pineapple salsa complimented the spiciness of the sea bass perfectly. Wahaca focuses on Mexican street food style cooking so keep that in mind when you decide to dine here. We didn't want to fill our bellies up so the portion size was perfect for the both of us.

Food was superb! The service was terrible! The dining area was clean but loud. We were immediately seated on a Friday night without reservations. My seat felt like I was in the middle of a busy walkway right by stairs into the back dining area. The server was not friendly and took so long to come back to take our order that we almost walked out. It was close to 30 minutes that we sat waiting for him. Our food came out quickly and when the waiter finally came to check on us I asked for a water refill and mentioned how I needed more water due to the spicy food. He never returned with water. He did return to tell us he wanted to leave and his coworker would take care of us. We told him to bring our check and we would pay immediately - we also really wanted to leave by that point. As for the food, we ordered was delicious and we would definitively try this chain again the next time we are in London, but not this location.

Very good Mexican street food. Best I've had in a while. Service is excellent, comfortable atmosphere. We added guacamole and chips and cocktails. Margaritas are delicious but small.

This place is AMAZING! Trust a mexican when traditional mexican food is the topic. Coming to London for Mexican food was not what the plan was, came here with very LOW expectations and we were AMAZED with everything from Fran our server (she made us feel right at home) to the most delicious gourmet nachos and drinks! Def coming BACK!

Make a reservation if not wait time is 40+min. Yup, we waited and it was worth it. Open concept restaurant, very well decorated, great music playing which makes the wait time not feel as bad. We were checked in on by the front desk person who assured us we were forgotten about. Once seated we were greeted by the manager who took our orders due to nit allergies. I ordered a passion fruit margarita which did not disappoint. Food here is tapas style so small plates. I had the fish tacos, which was not oily and perfect fly seasoned with some pickled onions. We got the nachos and trio salsa which was spicy but perfect for the cold London weather.chicken enchiladas were filling and yum. The winner was the churros and chocolate dipping. It was SO good I could have eaten it all. Place is very nicely decorated and spread out. The fact they had a full on allergy menu worked out well and made my dinner experience stress free. Service is amazing not matter how busy they were. Check this place out !

Full disclosure, coming from San Diego, my expectations on Mexican food in London were pretty low. This place completely defied expectations. I ordered the guacamole which was amazing. The Beef Gringa tacos were great as well. I threw some guacamole on the tacos and muah (kisses fingers). This is a great place for a light lunch. Atmosphere is great, service was wonderful. 10/10 would come again.

We stumbled upon Wahaca as we were exploring Covent Garden area and pubs near by. They had good ratings from my fellow Yelpers so we decided to check it out. Headed on in and was stoked with the menu (anything Mexican you can imagine) and a great drinks list too. Trendy place with decent Mexican fare offered in small plates. You may have to wait to get seated, but you're handed a buzzer so you can sit at the bar while you wait. They offer Mexican style street food snacks and bigger Mexican meals are also available. We tried little bit of everything from Tacos, Quesadillas, Nachos, street corn, burritos etc. Everything came out as expected and tasted good. Over all, Relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and friendly staff. Excellent vegan options too, ask to see their vegan menu! Reasonable prices and there's something for everyone!

Food was not really to my taste but it seemed very fresh. Service was lacking though. They said food may come out at different times but my son was completely done eating before any of the rest of us even got our food. They stuck our party of 4 adults and an older teenager at a little 3ft table in a corner and it was very tight. They put two really small water bottles on the table which were empty before our food even came but we never got more water. Never saw waitress after food order was taken, a different employee delivered our food and no one ever came back to check on us. Probably wouldn't try again.

This place is hoppin'! There was a bit of a wait and I know why, this place is so good! You can choose between small plates or meals here. We opted to go for small shareables. For the two of us one order of tacos, nachos and the chicken quesadilla were plenty. Our waitress was awesome and showed us which plates were shareable and gave us recommendations. The nachos pack a little heat so be careful if you don't like spicy. The beef tacos were tender and delicious with shredded beef marinated in something awesome. Quesadilla was also great. We loved every bit of our meal and would definitely return here! Just like everyone else apparently since it stays busy.

During most of the week days, there are a bunch of pop-up food stands and the market gets swarmed with amazing smells. While trotting home one day, I saw a big Mexican flag waving towards the back end of the market. Quickly, I detoured during lunch time and headed through all the stalls to find Freebird Burritos. Swedish owned and operated, these fine Scandinavians made me one of the best carne asada (steak) burritos that I've had in London. The meat was lean and juicy and the spicing was excellent. Add in some tasty refried beans, cheese and a good helping of rice all wrapped in a tasty, albeit flour tortilla. So good and I can't wait to check out one of there other locations.

The staff is great (point 1), and they wrap their burritos like pros (point 2). Pork, beef, chicken and vegetarian burritos are options, as are fajitas and the "naked" burritos which basically shoves all the key burrito gear into a box without a tortilla. I'm not a big meat-eater, but the meat here is great...slow-cooked, no gristle, perfect bite-sizes, mega-tender. I always get an extra side of guac (60p) because it's a rule that avocado makes everything better. In my ideal world I'd add some more kick to it but, hey, that's being extremely picky. One burrito (6 pounds-ish, depending on your modifications) is more than enough for a hearty lunch. Which means I've never tested their chips or salsa or other things (but, note, they exist as options!). Yelp note: my new "secret sauce" is half HOT sauce half mild pico-de-gallo-style sauce. End result? A delicious medium heat. Y'welcome.

We shared a big plate of taco ingredients and tortillas. It was all very good and the good news is that with the variety there was something everyone liked. Unfortunately, Mestizo charges per person and the minimum and maximum is two for this item So I couldn't order for one without paying forty dollars , and I'd be damned to pay that much. Having this rule is ridiculous. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant forcing you to order something that can easily be portioned to one. I ordered a marinated chicken with rice and beans. The beans were out of this world. Such a unique flavor I definitely was not accustomed to in the states. The rice was unfortunately bland. The chicken was marinated in this red sauce and was tasty for the most part. However , when I made my way to the center it became dry and had a weird taste. If you're gonna order this dish, proceed with caution. The dessert really outshined and redeemed my visit somewhat. I ordered the tres leches cake. This dessert is basically like a Mexican version of sticky toffee pudding. There are many overlapping factors. One key difference is tres leches uses a milk and cinnamon base , so it kind of tastes like a horchata cake.

Let me tell you, it was one of the best meals we had while we were in England for an entire month. Before we get to the food, I must give a shout out to the staff who were so warm, friendly and attentive. What we ordered: The short rib tacos for sharing. I am not exaggerating when I tell you it was DIVINE. The meat was so well seasoned and flavorful and it was literally falling off the bone. No, seriously, they bring it to your table, bone and all, and shred the meat for you. It's served with unlimited tortillas and some fixings for your tacos such as pickled red onions cilantro, etc. Caesar salad: A good solid caesar salad. Not the best I ever had in my life, but it was fresh, not too much anchovy in the dressing and came with a ton of shaved parmesan on top. Elote corn: nice and flavorful, corn was not soggy. Great smoky flavor from the grill. Guacamole: fresh and flavorful. Margaritas: Well balanced, not too sweet and enough alcohol to where you could taste it but it didn't make you grimace. I ended up ordering 2. Beer: Not sure which beer, but my husband said it was his favorite one he tried our entire trip. Ambiance was great, decor was beautiful, lighting was well put together. It was nice as clean as well, no sticky seats / menus.
