It's a Friday night and you're hungry. What do you do? a) Order takeaway from the completely acceptable though perhaps uninspiring Chinese? b) Call up Dominos pizza yet again? c) Get Mexican delivery from a slightly dubious (see picture http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz_photos/rp50JE2QEttRhKu5wY8eSA?select=mokT88GzXBwVmfcCPkxNlA ) establishment in Wimbledon? If you answered "c", then you're well on your way to what I like to call "American dirty-Mexican food satiation". But let me explain this statement. The food I got from Mexican Fresh was far from dirty (-adjective 1. soiled with dirt; foul; unclean. 2. undesirable or unpleasant), but it was "dirty" in that it was real; it was unpolished; it hit the spot, if you will. Sure, the burrito I ordered had black beans in it instead of the pinto beans advertised on the menu. Sure, the tacquitos were a bit too bloated in a puff-pastry sort of way. But these items were fresh, honest and damn tasty. The Holy Grail of Mexican food in London, this is not. But with the menu offering a plethora of taqueria options, you better believe that I'll be phoning up on more Friday nights in the future to order some tacos and quesadillas. Or maybe an "americana burrito" (the only one with rice in it, bahahaha!! stick it, California!). A suggestion, though: make your own guacamole and give the gauc from Mexican Fresh a big pass. I got it and was sorely disappointed to find that it resembled more of a salsa fresca that looked green than it did some delicious calorie-laden guacamole. Order the homemade corn tortilla chips, by all means, but if you order the guacamole to accompany them don't say I didn't warn you. read more

I've reviewed before, but I think the place has changed hands. It used to be "Mexi Fresh" with a clean, colour-focused menu, but now it's "Mexican Fresh" with a rather racist caricature on their literature. I ordered through Just-Eat, though. So I had no idea about any of this until the food came and a paper menu was tucked inside. The food doesn't seem to have changed, it's super tasty and quite reasonably priced for the amount of food that you get (which is a lot!). Still the best Mexican I've found in London! read more

Mexican Fresh is a mixed experience. OK so there is hardly ANY Mexican places in (SW) London at all so it is good that it exists, it delivers which makes it pretty awesome in my eyes and the standard is fair. But there are some very big misses! We ordered chicken taquitos (pretty good), two grande burritos (and they were indeed absolutely massive - lunch and dinner in itself) and dessert. The ingredients were fresh and the steak was nice in the steak burrito - better than the chili beef was. The dessert was to-die-for however: they serve Brazilian desserts and we had the chocolate one and the condensed milk one which were absolutely amazing. My partner said that it was the best pie-like item he's had in the UK. But no jalapenos on anything!! At all! Like nothing we ordered was even remotely spicy, which I'm sure would make pretty much any Mexican laugh out loud at it. Also I think they are a little unclear on the concept of guacamole or salsa, since what came as 'guacamole' seemed like some kind of hybrid. No sour cream either. Boo! I would say Mexican Fresh is fine if you have a bottle of hot sauce beside you - and guacamole if you're a fan. And get the dessert or you'll regret it!! ***(I had a Mexican friend once that managed to give himself an ulcer from a short visit back home to Mexican where he tried to eat as much spicy food as humanly possible, that he couldn't get in the UK!) read more

So I suppose I should start by saying he threatened to call the police to my house. Cold, salty food that generally, was terrible. I will never order from this place again. If you have a moment spare, read this little tale of my customer experience at Mexican Fresh. After placing an order at around 7.45, it finally arrived at 940, cold and disappointing. I had previously called to ask where my food was and that I had placed an order, but whoever I spoke to asked for my postcode 5 times with "how can I help/would you like to place an order" whenever I gave him my address and not listening to what I was saying. Not getting anywhere in the conversation, I asked to speak to the manager who assured a 15 minute wait until the food arrived. Following another thirty five minutes, I called back; same guy asking for my postcode a load of times - he then said that the food had been delivered whilst refusing to hear me say that it definitely had not. He went on and on, telling me that I was wrong. When I could eventually speak, I said I had no food in front of me and that it had been far too long. I then said that it was unacceptable and that they shall be expecting a bad review. He replied by telling me that I better put the phone down or he'll call the police as I was threatening him. I work for various charitys in a call Centre and I know exactly how I come across on the phone. Of course I was annoyed, but not in the least threatening. After he said the food had arrived for a final time and that he would call the police, the door rang and there was my food. Average and luke warm at best, over salted and generally unenjoyble. I hate Mexican food and my girlfriend convinced me to give this place a try based off of the reviews. Do not order from this place, terrible staff, food and customer experience. read more

This was my hands-down favourite delivery option for the nearly two years I lived in Streatham. Even though sometimes the delivery would take far longer than 45 minutes, it wouldn't come at all, the order would be wrong, or my card would be charged twice, and their customer service can be extremely variable. It would *almost* be enough simply that it is Mexican delivery in south London, but it's completely worth it for the food -- enough to satisfy an American expat. (Mind you, those problems are why it gets 3 stars rather than 4 or 5.) I've tried all of the burritos with all of the various meat/veggie options except for the so-cal; they are delicious and massive, with the 'regular' lasting 1-2 hearty meals and the 'grande' lasting 2-3. While I'm fond of the original quesadilla (with or without chicken), the fajita quesadilla is 1 of only 2 menu items I find mediocre; the spicing can be off on the fire-roasted vegetables, which isn't so much of an issue with the multi-ingredient tacos, but can occasionally ruin these. Speaking of the tacos, all 4 choices are fantastic, making it difficult to choice between a two or three taco combo and often resulting in one of each (don't judge me). I'm pleased to note the tacos are now labelled as 'wheat free' or 'dairy free' for those who are gluten-free or lactose-intolerant and that they now say (rather than just do) that they will add or remove ingredients from anything. The taquitos are the other item which can be mediocre as it can be both bland and/or low on fillings, but the tostada salad (again with or without chicken) is another yummy, huge, 2-3 meal affair. Don't bother with the tortilla chips & dip or the salsa packs; save your money for one of three Mexican beers, Oreo snack packs (manna before these started turning up in Sainsburys & Tesco), or especially the desserts. More than enough of both come with the rest of the dishes, and unless you have a specific hankering for beans, you'll likely find more than enough in the rest of your meal as well. Oh, the desserts. Go straight to the lime & mascarpone cheesecake and the pecan pie; while I have a particular love for the extra-nutty pecan pie, they are both the best examples of their kind this side of the Atlantic. Most of the staff are Mexican, from the chef to the delivery drivers, for an extra touch of authenticity. There's a second location in Sheen which does delivery as well as takeout for those of you in other south London postcodes. Disfrute de su buena comida! read more

As a vegetarian ordering from Mexican Fresh I must say how completely horrified I was to be half way through my meal (which was a fully wrapped up burrito so not possible to see what was inside on inspection) to then see some meat fall out. This company obviously has absolutely no standards within their food preperation areas. When preparing such food they should either state in large print on their website / brochure that they cannot guarantee vegetarian food is meat free, or not offer a vegetarian option. Furthermore I ordered online through what was made to look like their website, which when chasing my refund I was told was not actually their website and was actually run by a third party, who I had to speak to to get a refund again unacceptable. Will never be returning and why would I now that the amazing Tortillia is open in Wimbledon! read more

We ordered a Burrito Americana and a Burrito Ranchero which arrived in good time. I'm a big fan of mexican food, so was excited at having found a mexican restaurant that delivered. The food was very bland and several key ingredients were missing. In the Burrito Americana, there was no guacamole and the burrito Ranchero was missing the roasted peppers (meaning it was just beans, sour cream and lettuce) I rang the restaurant up to tell them and their response was 'oh, we only put a bit of guacamole in (it must have been a microscopic amount).' Another suggestion was that maybe their chef had made a mistake. They said that next time, if I just ask them to put more in the burrito, they'd be happy to do it. As a big fan of Mexican food I was keen to try this place out after looking at the positive reviews. Big mistake. Cold, damp, soggy food prepared by people with little to no knowledge of Mexican food. The burrito seemed to have been microwaved... after they'd put lettuce, sour cream etc. on the inside. The quesadilla and nachos were anything but fresh. The guacamalee was home made but was missing key ingredients like coriander, chilli etc. There was no salsa with anything. To be fair they do use mostly authentic ingredients. The problem is the way they're prepared, presented and delivered. My guess is the owners have no connection to Mexico - perhaps they own an Curryhouse or Kebab shop as well - and have no real appreciation of how the food is supposed to taste. Shame really because this is the only Mexican delivery place that I know of in SW London and I'm sure there's a market for it. But with the prices they charge they really need to go back to the drawing board and figure out what Mexican food is all about. read more

My brother and I ordered 'Mexicanfresh' hoping that it would meet the high standards of the now closed 'Mexifresh' in Sheen. After ordering from the Wimbledon based Mexican today, I can say with disappointed that I shall not be ordering from it again. To start with, we ordered extra toppings for our meals i.e extra pico de gallo and extra chilli. My nachos arrived soggy, chewy and stale. I could have overlooked this if it hadn't been for the absence of any pico de gallo, only a couple of poorly chopped tomatoes with no sign of seasoning. Instead, I was given a tiny pot of liquid-like guacamole which fell short of my expectations. My brother ordered the grande burrito. The burrito was far from grande. Rather, it was average sized with an extra tasteless wrap around it- like a naan, to give it the illusion that it was bigger than it was. The chicken was stringy and overcooked. The food was cold on arrival. Oh and grossly overpriced for the quality you get. If anyone lives around SW London, save your money and head town to Tortilla in Hammersmith. Or bring back the lovely 'Mexifresh' in Sheen that used to bring us joy every Friday night when we were growing up. read more

Unbelievably poor. Should of read the reviews before I ordered. The"meal" took two hours to arrive. No apologies on arrival. The food itself you could get so bad if you tried. It was all stone cold. Nothing like advertised. It was all stale with poor quality feelings. When i rand up to demand my money back they said the manager would call me three hours later. Of course he didn't. We threw the whole thing in the bin. £28 pound light. These people are an embarrassment to the service sector AVIOD AVIOD AVIOD. I ordered a delivery to my home, quasedilla says as cheese in a tortilla and my choice of vegetables. I recieved after 1 hour without the vegetables in it. Called them back and I have been told they can deliver the right meal in 30 minutes. After 1 hr still didn't recieved so I called them back. I spoke to the manager who was extremely rude and said the cheese was the vegetables. So ridiculous place with unprofessional people. Charging for a tortilla with cheese for £6.25. This is insane. This used to be much better! Guacamole is watery and Nachos are soggy. Burritos were alright, but you get better at Tortilla in Wimbledon. They messed up the order, the vegetarian had chicken, which my daughter only noticed after a few bites, and the chicken had no chicken. Mistakes can happen, but it's how you deal with them that matters! Needless to say, they were useless and we won't be ordering from them again. read more

The food arrived 10 minutes late, the Quesadilla looked as tho they had simply stuck some cheese between 2 tortilla's, the rice was over cooked and rubbery and the burrito was overcooked and looked like it had been sat on and the beef looked like it had been cooked a week ago, everything was also stone cold and all looked unappetizing, the only thing that arrived correctly was the dessert which had been cut from a pie resembling tesco's own. When i called up to complain i was passed from 1 person to the other till i was asked what i would like to do, on which note i asked for a full refund, i was told only the manager could do this but was not there at the moment and would call me back sometime tonight, but when i refused to be fobbed off the manager was suddenly there and was very rude and begrudgingly accepted to give me my refund but told me it would take 3 working days. I would recommend staying as far away from this place as possible, the food is well below par and the staff are rude and un-helpful. 4 days later i did not receive my refund so i called the restaurant and was told that unless i removed my review from Just-Eat i would not be given my refund, so i agreed and waited for a call back, no call back came so i called again and was told i had to contact Just-Eat to get my money back. In all i would avoid this place like you avoid a bad smell. The management are rude and un-professional and the food is like something you would expect from a van in a back alley. read more
