For our first visit, we were excited to see a legit looking cantina in our new neighbourhood. The decor is wonderful! Unfortunately, that's the best bit of this breathtakingly adequate restaurant. We visited on a Sunday- the only other clientele were families - we were unsure why until the food arrived. Our servers were lovely, fast and attentive. In fact, the food came out suspiciously quickly! Perhaps because it was quiet. But highly commended on the staff. The food though - oh, the food :( . Bland, bland, bland. Guacamole with no flavour, which is quite the achievement. Fish tacos with fried battered fish pieces from the freezer, "burritos" that are actually enchiladas because they're covered in sauce (and still bland). Soft, bland corn chips - It's all fresh - but Tex Mex should be bursting with flavour. I assume this was why it was popular with kids. So perhaps the drinks are great. Maybe it's an off day. But given its apparently rebranded recently and the less than glowing previous reviews, I'd assume not. Such a shame as parts of it are killer - nice staff, great decor - but the food is sub-TGI Fridays. So no mas for us, I'm afraid. The Taco Bell across the street tastes the same and is half the price. read more

I was disgusted by the service and the quality of the food. Everything that I ordered was overcooked or simply burnt. Tasteless. It's not authentic Mexican food (I've been to Mexico and live in the US, I know Mexican!) Don't bother in coming here, there are plenty of good restaurants in the area. read more

I went here before a Chelsea game. Although this place specialises in Mexican food, it doesn't do it to an above average standard. The British equivalent would be a local breakfast cafe serving a standup full English fry up, or a diner in America serving typical burger and chips. Portions are big though, so if that's your thing, its not a bad place to go for lunch in the area. read more

We thought we'd try this place out because of its seemingly good deals for their lunch menu. We walked in following a big group and was immediately greeted by the smell of a toilet. Okay, give them benefit of the doubt because we thought maybe it is just an off day for them. No. NO. I should have walked out after smelling the foul smell. After we were seated, I noticed another medium size group walked in and while waiting to be seated (because most of the time there is no one in the dining room for service), talked about the smell then left again. THEY WERE WISE. After waiting for 20 minutes to take our orders (I understand it was a big group but they did nothing in the 20 minutes we were waiting because only 1 server was there and he did not offer to take our orders for drinks or food - so we couldn't actually get ahead of the group order even though we were ready :/ ), we ordered buffalo wings as a starter and two Tex-mex mains. We tried to order a milkshake drink on their drinks menu *which we had to fetch ourselves* but apparently they are not serving those at the moment. Assuming they didn't give us a drinks menu because they weren't serving any drinks - that's my bad I guess? But other tables had drinks so I don't know why we weren't given a menu. Boneless buffalo wings came after like another 20 minutes. They were three tiny pieces of boneless fillet that have been fried, with a small plastic side pot of hot sauce. I'd like to point out that the menu said that it comes with a blue cheese dip and celery. I asked the server for it and he went, uh, No. I'm sorry, I would've taken "we don't have it at the moment today sorry," but an outright lie and not serving what your menu said is just inexcusable. I know we followed a big table (of 8 or something), but our mains took like an hour to come - in fact, our mains came 1 minute before the big group settled their bill and left. I know your kitchen has to accomodate people but holy crap, we were sitting there for an hour. And the wait wasn't worth it. Both our mains' flour tortilla tasted like plastic - a knife can barely cut through it, folding it up to put it in my mouth made it crack straight down the middle. The meat was watery and the rice was undercooked. The beans were sculptable - it was cold and thick and dubious. Never again. read more

Great service, but the most awful 'Mexican' food I've had in the UK. Fish fingers and baked beans do not make a £14 fish taco. Also, I'm not sure if this was intentional, but the guacamole was brown and tasted mainly of gin (?!) read more

So I'm American, worked in a tex-mex place, lived in Mexico for a while etc. so I was interested to see this place and nothing would please me more than to have a good Tex-Mex restaurant in the neighbourhood. First off, let me say I think they've done a great job of creating the kind of fun, lively atmosphere of a Tex-Mex place without being too kitsch. The menu hits all the classic dishes youd expect (fajita, burrito, enchilada, chimichanga). And the drinks are potent and delicious. So we'll be back. But in the spirit of constructive criticism, Dear owners, please stop using table salt to salt the rims of your margaritas. Go buy some kosher salt -- or even some coarse sea salt if you're really stuck -- and do it right. Regular table salt is iodised and tastes terrible and far too salty and is ruining your otherwise excellent margarita. read more

I visited Guaca last night for a friend's birthday celebration. The experience was terrible from start to finish. We ordered some nachos to share; the greasy tortilla chips came with shop bought green slop/guacamole - I would have thought a Mexican restaurant could at least make their own guacamole. Main courses were also awful - I ordered enchiladas which were supposed to come topped with melted cheese - there was no cheese, just a generous smothering of BBQ sauce. I hate BBQ sauce so I sent the dish back and ordered something else instead - King Prawn Salsita which was described as 'sizzling king prawns in garlic sauce' - there was no garlic sauce, just hot mustard. Prawns covered in mustard isn't something I would expect in a Mexican restaurant nor is it something I would order, it was disgusting. The side salad was a few leaves straight out of a bag - no dressing. The 'skin on fries' did not have the skin on and were undercooked, limp and greasy. The toilet was blocked which from reading earlier reviews I see has been a problem for months but they haven't bothered to get it sorted. Someone mentioned back in June that the card machine wasn't working - we were also given this story and were told we had to pay in cash, I won't speculate on the reasons why this might be, but seems they will only take cash payments for some reason...It was honestly the worst dining experience I've had in a very long time, I would avoid this place like the plague. read more
