If asoon as you enter the shop, the smell of wood smoke permeates the air - you know it's gonna be legit! The brisket, which I asked for fatty brisket only, was extremely juicy and tender. The burnt ends were good too, though maybe I'd try a different meat first. The Mac and Cheese was also the perfect texture of creaminess too. When I asked for a suggestion, I was recommended the baked beans, which ended up being more like a chili, and it was delicious! We came 30 minutes before closing on a weekend and there were just a couple tables taken, plenty of seating. My friend and I shared a 2 meat combo for a light dinner. We got the brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, and potato salad. They were out of cornbread as a side but it came with garlic bread. It also came with some pickled onions and jalapeños. Everything was DELICIOUS. Their bbq sauce on the table was great too. The pulled pork wasn't the saucy sloppy joe-esque kind but more like smoky juicy meat that didn't need sauce. The brisket was tender and fatty. The mac and cheese was really hearty. The pickles balanced all the heavy creamy and fatty flavors. Service was very nice and helpful. Came on a Monday during lunchtime. Empty with parking lot shares with cleaners and a taqueria. The food is a bit pricey and it wasn't "authentic" BBQ. Got the tri tip and brisket combo with Mac n cheese and potato salad as the sides. It als came with garlic bread. Tri tip was tender but didn't have much flavor. They had 2 BBQ sauce types - normal and spicy. I got the normal but it wasn't anything special. The brisket was mainly fatty. The potato salad had a weird pink tinge to it but I would give it a pass. The Mac n cheese tasted more like Alfredo. The garlic bread was a no go - it was cardboard. Also got a root beer float. But for $6 not worth the scoop of ice cream and cheap can root beer soda. The place was cute but the music was elevator jazz so it was a bit painful trying to get through the meal. My moist towelette was dry. Have to put your trays away in a bucket and separate your utensils into another container with cleaner. So having to tip for service when the only service was to be rung up by the cashier felt misleading. Try it once but not coming back. read more

When we first came here nearly a year ago we were blown away by the quality of meat. The last couple of times we have been there it just hasn't been the same. The service is still great, the sides are still delish, but the meat has really been sliding. My wife's go to was the burnt ends and brisket. This latest batch just wasn't....Good. The burnt ends were tough, almost crunchy. Brisket was bland, fatty, and cut to thick. The pulled pork was ok, but no spectacular. At the end of the day it was really a let down, especially for $64 for dinner. It has gone from a place I wanted to use for work catering for 100 down to me taking the menu out of my bosses drawer. Pulled up at night and I swear it seemed sketchy, but that's when you know it's the good stuff! Staff recommended the coleslaw, baked potato, & potato salad. For some reason, it's pretty hard to find a good BBQ place in the Bay Area. Luckily, I had a good time at Wagon Wheel BBQ and would definitely come back again. [[ Parking / Location ]] I haven't seen this mentioned in other reviews but I advise you to park in the BACK of the restaurant since that is actually a paved parking lot rather than the parking lot out "front" where it's just gravel. Google Maps will lead you to the gravel parking lot so again, just travel to the back of the restaurant for more standard parking. There is an entrance from the back as well so you don't have to walk around. [[ Food ]] I got the 3-meat combo so I could sample more meats and decided to try the following 3: 1.) Tri-Tip 2.) Brisket 3.) Burnt Ends The Tri-Tip and Brisket were both really good in my opinion. Both moist and juicy and the brisket with some nice fatty pieces. The Burnt Ends were also cooked well with a lot of flavor but a bit dry in my opinion. I'm not sure I would get the Burnt Ends again in the future and stick with more Brisket and Tri-Tip. I also got the fountain drink because they do not have the standard Coke/Pepsi Machine. Their soda is from "Stubborn" and I love all the unique flavors they have. Food was FANTASTIC! We had a party of 10 and the restaurant had a large enough table to accommodate the whole party. Check out the menu and pig out! All the food was delicious including the 6 different sides that came with our order. Then desserts showed up...berry cobbler AND bread pudding. Both NEED to be shared as they are large portions. I now think this place is just decent for several reasons, the most important of which is that my spouse couldn't finish the pulled pork because it was too salty and didn't come with any BBQ sauce to help cut that. (Not that it should be so salty in the first place.) The hot link is good, the coleslaw is good, the mac and cheese looks better than it tastes, and the potato salad was not good. My friends brought over Wagon Wheel takeout the other day after having gone to it themselves, so this review is mainly speaking to the takeout food. I tried the 2 meat combo with tri tip and brisket-- I wasn't a big fan of the tri tip (a little dry) but brisket was super tasty and tender! The only complaint I have is that I found a hair in the brisket, which was kind of nasty :( That being said, the presentation was fine and sides like the beans and slaw were in separate plastic packaging so my assumption is that they take cleanliness decently seriously. I think I'd have to go back in person to get a better feel for the quality and ambiance. read more

I've been a big fan of this place in the past and have been here or ordered carryout probably 15 times. Last time I went I wanted the gaucho sandwich, which is brisket with chimichurri sauce and cheese (high recommended), but they were out of brisket. So I said just make the sandwich with tri tip. Thought that would be fine. As someone who regularly grills tri tip at home, it was super disappointing. It was chewy but the big problem was the pepper. Holy crap there was so much pepper. I could not finish it because of the extreme amount of pepper, and had diarrhea the next day. I wonder if they have tried their own tri tip recently.
