I have been coming here for over 10 years on a regular basis. Always good food, never disappointed! I don't understand why but the eggs here taste so much better than anywhere else. I enjoy the counter seating where you can watch them prepare your meals. Always good and friendly service and it's fun to watch your order called out loud from your server to the grill cook. Really busy on weekends The restaurant is always being cleaned by the staff. They keep it spotless. The staff always makes you feel welcome and seem like they all love their jobs. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. I'm a very picky eater and have a tendency to be overly critical of restaurants and don't embellish on my reviews. I will start off with saying that Waffle House is not my personally preferred breakfast spot, but still happy to eat at them occasionally when it's out of convenance or preferred by someone else. If you are familiar with Waffle House, you likely know it's usually very consistent at most locations, or at least the good ones. A fairly limited menu of good comfort type food. Nothing fancy, just good food, prepared quickly, at a reasonable price. This location didn't disappoint at all and was right in line with all the good things you would hope to expect from a Waffle House. The service was good. Friendly waitress, welcomed when you walked in, seated immediately and staff were attentive. The food was prepared as ordered and tasted great. Most Waffle Houses are small and easy to see the whole place at a glance. If you walk in the door and are sitting in a corner you likely just walked past 75% of the restaurant. So it was easy to see the place was clean and well kept. This location in Winchester is located in a very convenient spot and easy to get to if you're in the area shopping or taking care of some business locally. This morning my husband and I stopped in, after an early appointment. The place was well lit, clean, and seemed to be running efficiently. There were already 8 other people being served, by one waitress, Mandy. Mandy was very quick to our table, with our drinks, and calling out our orders. She was both polite and patient while we decided on our food. And, she made me a fresh pot of decaf, without any prompting or questions about the freshness of the previous pot. Mandy is the epitome of an excellent waitress. She took pride in what she was doing, and it showed. While we obviously didn't have contact with the kitchen staff, (3 people) we did have the opportunity to witness their cohesive style of operation. It seems that no one misses a beat in this place. Quiet on a weekday morning, I was the only customer in here from 7:30 until 8:00. That was nice because it was quiet and the crew wasn't talking loudly to each other. My All Star Breakfast was exactly as it's supposed to be with the ham arriving first, followed by my waffle and then the eggs and toast and hash browns. All cooked properly and as I ordered. the head guy (zachary) manager is rude as hell. he yells at the staff all the time. the old lady with the raspy voice is no better. those two fight more then work and doesn't make it a welcoming place. I know, it almost doesn't make sense. Waffle House? From the guy who only drinks locally roasted coffee via a pour method or homemade cold brew? From the guy who would start his own farm if he could just so he could ensure everything was organic? Yes, the same guy. But listen, I have a few reasons for loving this location. I would frequent here many years ago when I lived in the area because it was the only sit-down restaurant opened past 10 pm. And I can tell you without reservation, the omelettes and waffles are just as delicious now as they were then. The truth is that food is being made to order so that in itself is a standard of quality. This place for me is nostalgic and current. Whenever I'm meeting up with friends in the area during the holidays, it always tends to be early in the morning (can't interfere with gift opening or family food consuming). So we meet there. It's the kind of place where the team calls you "honey" and always asks if you want a piece of pie (yep, even at 6 am). It's consistent, never closes, and is always a good experience. After living in Atlanta for years they are on every corner and the employees here deserve kudos as they put up with more crap than a New York City taxi driver on any given day or night. I sat down at a booth and was immediately floored at the sheer number of sauces the managers of Waffle House trusted to me. A small cartel holding ketchup, mustard, Tabasco, salt, pepper, sugar, salsa, and A1 steak sauce. Most restaurants make you beg at your server's feet for even half of these condiments, but the generous souls at Waffle House throw them at you. They all but put them in your pocket and ask you to take them away to use on all the foods of the world and HOPE that the food you're drenching in pepper sauce and mustard will be even half as delicious as the treasures that you will taste in their establishment. I only had three old nickels in my wallet, but I was still able to order a feast from their seemingly limitless menu: biscuits and gravy, a hash brown bowl, and a classic waffle. I was surprised my kind, patient waitress was even able to understand me as I said the last dish I wanted, as by the time I ordered it, I realized she had already begun to spoon feed me the first two things I'd ordered. The cook had used her superhuman psi-abilities to read my mind and preemptively make the unique order that would cater perfectly to my personal taste buds. The food was delicious. No, not just delicious. Delicious is not enough. The food was divine. The stuff of gods. On the plentiful tables of heaven, they do not drink ichor and eat manna. The food looked warm when it was served, cut a small portion out, there is a little smoke like flame that indicates the food was supposed to be hot but instead the food tasted cold. I needed a restroom open at 6 am and this was the first open place I saw. Once the urgent business was done, I sat down for a quick meal. Waffle house so let's try the waffle, right? Well, we are so far away from Belgium here. Their waffle has more to do with the Eggo type than the Brussels' ones! They obviously haven't adapted to modern times, no fresh fruit to order to put it on the waffle and no maple syrup either. Service is fast and after a few visits they know you and what/how you like your food. Omlettes are probably the down side - tend to be runny.
