After 50 minutes, I inquired and miracles or miracles! A table was open! Yeah, ok. Nice table, nice server. We order juices--very nice--and my wife orders soup and sandwich and I order a veggie burger. About ten minutes later, they bring out a soup and sandwich and a turkey burger. I point out the error and they apologize to say that the replacement is coming urgently. Well, I sat there for ten minutes watching my wife eat and after mine came, she sat there watching me eat. Before anyone says it might have been a kitchen error, the server admitted to putting in the wrong dish. I go to pay, and the cashier (manager?) asks me how everything was, and I tell him. He essentially shrugs and says that Sundays are like that. No apology, no offer to comp a drink or even say that he hopes we still come back. He didn't seem at all bothered by our less than satisfactory experience. It's ok, though--Oxford has a ton of restaurants open on Sunday morning.

They forgot about me but someone who seemed like a busser apologized when I walked in because he saw me waiting outside. That was nice of him but host should have let me know they were ready. Crab cakes were good. Catfish was decent. Tomato and onions were very strong vinegar and much too acidic to blend with the fish. Server was excellent and had a good personality.

Just a few minutes later and not quite half way through my Caesar my redfish showed up and dropped mid salad. She said she'd bring me water and got backed up. I ended up refilling my water at the bar. This is a long review but it has a happy ending, I promise. Her name was Julie. I sat at the Duce next to the window right by the bar. Julie told Me she saw me get my own water. She said she was going to take care of my bill. Surprised that my feedback resulted in this level of recover I asked if the restaurant is taking care of my check or if she was. She said the manager offered a small discount on the salad but she was sorry I had this kind of experience and wanted to make sure I Came back and gave them another chance. She said this was her passion and wants to make sure her guests are taken care of. I insisted I pay and explained I was there on business so I wasn't paying for it myself. After several time trying, I just said "thank you and I wished everyone cared as much." That was by far the most sincere service recovery I ever encountered and it was at the cost of the associate. Manager never game to the table. I don't recall seeing anyone that fit that description either. This is a mid to upper tier price point "nice" establishment so expectations should reflect that. Julie owned it and took one for the team. I felt horrible she felt she needed to do that. I hope she doesn't do this often. Experience not so good but I experienced worse. Food was okay to good. Julie was outstanding. I don't carry cash but I gave her everything I had. The only response I need to hear that would make me change my mind is if Julie was refunded for my check. Then the bill came and the credit card machine at the table charged us over $26. I questioned it and was told "the card was already charged and it was the tax." 30%+ tax??? We asked for a printed receipt and in fact we were charged $12 per bowl. (20% over the menu price). Then the person next to us was overcharged $2 for her sandwich as well. At that point the waitress brought a manager to our group. We showed the manager the menu with the prices. The manager then told us that she would fix it by "charging us the price on the menu." Since we had already paid, we explained that we needed a refund plus tax, which we got. The prices on the menu do not match what they charge you. Watch your bill!
