This place lives up to the hype. I've heard all about the burger so I had to give it a try and it was delicious. It's a smash burger with all of the toppings and I can see why it's their hit item. The service was great and the owner (I think he was the owner at least:) came out to talk with us and make sure everything was good. Most of the seating is outside so just be prepared for that since it's been hot and this was a gas station in it's previous life. read more

I would love to have tried this place. Showed up on a sunny Saturday afternoon at 1:25 for lunch and a glass of wine. They advised they were not adding any more names to the list. For whatever reason, they close at 2:00 on Saturdays in a hopping college town. I don't understand that business model but it certainly is not client centric. Hence my rating. Apparently they must have more business than they need, so I recommend you try someplace else. read more

Food and ambiance was great. The service is where they fell short.. It took over an hour to receive our food even with a limited menu. When we brought up our concerns to the manager it was just dismissed. The problem is they must know that as they automatically add a 20% tip so there is no need for them to deliver on there service read more

And on to our second lunch stop in Oxford. This hamburger stand is in the alleyway between two other buildings. If you're not looking for it you might miss it... We had a traditional burger and a chicken sandwich. Of the two, the chicken was better. But overall I think it's fair to say that neither of these would be on our go-to list for either chicken or burgers. But opinions vary. Check them out and maybe yours will. read more

Food came out cold. French dip was disgusting. It tastes like boiled beef. It also came out cold. The au jus was obviously from a powder, which they didn't even add enough of. It tastes like warm water. Service also sucks. Waited an hour for cold food to finally appear. read more

Great spot in Oxford. It's outdoor seating on a busy street so a little loud at times. Just be aware they add gratuity to your bill, regardless of party size and they do not tell you that when they present the bill. read more

We went for their first dinner service last night and it was fantastic! The service and wine list were great. They recommended sharing apps and entrees because the portions are large (hello 20 oz ribeye!) and all the food was amazing. Every bite of the red snapper was perfect! I've been so excited to try this place because I heard so much about it. I'm honestly not sure what the hype is other than the service. Our server was an extremely nice, attentive and professional waiter. All of the staff was friendly as we passed through to our table. The food wasn't bad, but definitely didn't live up to the hype or the cost. There was nothing special or memorable about the for with the exception of cost. The menu is extremely limited. For those with food restrictions or mental hang ups on ingredients, I give props to the waiter approaching our table and asking about special diet restrictions or needs immediately. It wasn't something I needed, but for those out there with allergies or for those dissecting gluten and such, I can see how extremely grateful others would be about the waiter being mindful of this. The ambiance ... from the outside to inside, it feels like they bought an old gas station and flipped it into a restaurant. There's nothing wrong with the effort put into it as far as decorating it. The inside table area is very crowded. They definitely couldn't fit another table in the space! Comfort was definitely not the objective when designing the area. Max tables=max money I'm assuming. The patio area is designed with nice patio tables, adorable fans for each table to help battle the heat and possibly the exhaust from it being placed right next to an extremely busy road. They did the best they could for what looks like a renovated gas station. It was an experience. I have no desire to ever return, but at least my curiosity has been answered. Make sure you arrive right when they open to get a table due to the high demand. Everything we ordered was amazing and the service was exceptional. Best fries in Oxford! Our only request is that they would be open for breakfast! read more

A bad day. My Wife and I went here for my birthday lunch today after watching a local food reviewer praise the burgers. We were seated immediately in a very cold restaurant which isn't that big a deal just painting a picture. We were seated and saw a chicken sandwich brought out to a nearby table which looked nice so we decided to get a burger and a chicken sandwich to share and try the menu. The chicken sandwich was noticeably fishy tasting but I had my Wife try it before I said anything to see if it was just me. She just said "Gross, why does it taste like fish."... My fries were stone cold. She said the burger was fine but saltier than mermaid nipples. It was hardly the amazing burger joint as promised but a place high in style and quirky decor and less on flavor and execution. The waitress and manager were great. The business charges you 20% to sit in the restaurant . This isn't a gratuity but a service fee. So even though my food was comped and uneaten after a modest $10 tip, I had a bill of $32.33 for one hamburger and a side. The food looked great but it was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in Oxford, MS. In 30+ years outside of the great service. Do better. P.s. Manager later informed me the fishy taste was fish sauce they add for Umami... Daddy No.. This pungent ingredient was also not listed on the menu when ordering the sandwich. read more

I was not impressed by the food. There is a very limited menu with mediocre options. It's a brunch place but only has canned cold brew with half and half. No other milk options. The food is overpriced and also has a mandatory 20% service charge on every single order. The food was fine and the service was good but overall it was not worth it for me especially if you have to wait for a seat. read more

We were lucky enough to be at Good day Cafe for opening night bf the word gets out and we can't get reservations. The dinner menu is small but packs a punch of flavor! My husband and I each ordered a different entree so we could share both. I would eat both entrees again the roasted chicken and the snapper. Honestly both entree were some of the best we have had in Oxford!! We would love for Good Day Cafe to be open more nights of the week. They just may need a bigger space once the word gets out. Clearly overrated... The best thing this restaurant has going for it is the hype. It's a very limited menu and really nothing special. The food is overpriced and there's not much ambience. The owner of the restaurant has several other restaurants in the square area and I think because he was either James Beard winner or a finalist people expect more... Showed up before the listed closing time and were turned away with no explanation other than 'we have seated our last table'. ? don't need any more business. Definitely lacking Southern hospitality. Excellent burger, rice bowl, salad, and sandwiches. Recently had the fish sandwich- highly recommended. The service was friendly and efficient. Others have commented on the prices, which is isn't unfair but they are not excessive and it's clear that the cafe prides itself on elevating the food with interesting flavors and consistent execution. I'm a breakfast guy, and the bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich was one of the best I've ever had.

We live in the neighborhood and are so glad to have them here. Once they get the patio completed it will be a huge hit! Congratulations.

Cool location/atmosphere. Food was disappointing for what you're paying. Chicken sandwich was big to the point that it continued to fall apart. Chicken itself was very dry and stringy with a strange aftertaste. Menu says that sandwiches come with a choice of side but the only choice is plain chips from a bag. Up charge for any other choice (including a different flavor of bagged chips). 20% tip is also included in the bill for every order that is dine-in regardless of party size. Just something not right about paying $18 for a meal where your side is a bag of chips. read more
