The butcher/meat department is the place to buy affordable steaks, chicken or whatever you need. This store has things stocked that you won't find in big city grocery stores. Things like cracklins, chitterlings, tripe, real lard, fatback, etc. Things that aren't for everybody, true, but this is the only store in Oxford that has them. The deli is famous for its plate lunches with its homemade rolls and cornbread. Spaghetti, pork chops, green beans, even breakfast biscuits with ham or bacon. Great stuff! Local people have used the bakery for years for special ordered Birthday Cakes with special themes available like TMNT, Spiderman, Hello Kitty....you get the idea. If you'll watch the circulars, you'll find that even with the silly 10% add on, they consistently beat Kroger and often times even Wally World in prices. In all fairness the 10% markup is supposedly 10 % above cost, and that 10% is all they are making. She assured me that she had all three orders. However, when I got home, I realized one of my granddaughters' meals was missing. To make matters worse, I had specifically asked for my receipt, but it was never placed in the bag. I immediately called the restaurant to explain what had happened. I then asked to speak with the manager, hoping the situation could be resolved. Instead, I was simply told that he was sorry, but he couldn't remake or correct my order. Mistakes can happen, and I understand that. What disappointed me most was how the situation was handled. As a paying customer, I expected the restaurant to take responsibility for the mistake and make it right. Instead, I was left without the meal I paid for and without a satisfactory resolution. I hope management will improve communication, ensure orders are checked before customers leave, and provide better customer service when issues arise. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant.
