Stopped in here for lunch today. I'm the only one who knew where we were headed, I kept the…read moredestination a secret from the rest of the family. I don't know why, I'm just cool and mysterious like that. They didn't have the full lunch menu available today, they only had a lunch plate special. And damn what a plate it was. 2 pieces fried chicken, mashed potatoes, greens, and a biscuit. The fried chicken had a sauce over it that was very reminiscent of Uncle Lou's sweet spicy love sauce but with less of the heat. That's a good thing for our table because one of the kids is not a spicy fan. Think I'm gonna need a DNA test on that one because I don't know what's up with that. In addition to the lunch counter there is also a full butcher shop with many different cuts of pork and beef. Prices seemed pretty reasonable as well and although I didn't get anything from the butcher I'll bet it's a damn sight better than what you'll get at Kroger. Everyone we dealt with (okay there were only 2 people, the lady at the register and the guy cooking) was very friendly, checking in without a few times throughout the meal, asking if it's our first time (it was) and welcoming us. Insider it's a cute country store vibe with some various sun dried in addition to the meats and lunch counter like soap, honey, I think I saw bags of grits.....

Since I grew up a hop, skip, and jump away from Como, off of Highway 310 in Marshall County, I was eager to check out the farm store on one of my upcoming visits back home. I finally got to stop by this past weekend, and I ordered takeout for lunch on Sunday, which consisted of 4 smoked brisket sandwiches, 2 wedge salads, 2 orders of egg rolls, a basket of French fries, and 3 slices of chocolate pie. The customer service I received during my visit was superb, and I throughly enjoyed the butcher shop meets Hill Country cafe vibes in the dining area while I waited for my food to be prepared. Once I got back to my mom's house, I realized both salads came with bacon, which meant the pescatarian in our family couldn't eat her meal. Other than that small hiccup, everything else was phenomenal! My family raved about the smoke brisket sandwiches, and I really enjoyed the egg rolls, wedge salad, French fries, and slice of chocolate pie that I ate. Overall, a great experience, and I look forward to stopping by again in the future when I'm back home in North Mississippi.
