Once everything is packed and ready to go, we stop by for breakfast before saying our goodbyes. This location is always packed, and the ladies who work here bust their behinds. Given the amount of traffic and the fact that they wash most of the dishes by hand, they do a great job. The service is great; they're quick on their feet, and it's always interesting to watch how people interact here. If you're not familiar with Waffle House, they sell waffles and other diner-type food. Is it healthy? Absolutely not, but eating here twice a year won't harm anyone. They have good eggs, sandwiches, waffles, hash browns (they are great; Scattered & Smothered, Covered & Chunked), and coffee. I'm really torn on this review because the service and food were excellent, but the corporate hidden fees are a total dealbreaker. First, the good: Our server, Mary, was absolutely fantastic. She was quick, incredibly helpful, and provided top-tier service. The food itself was great--we ordered the All Star Breakfast and the Cheesesteak & Egg Breakfast. Now, the bad: The fees are an absolute outrage. When I got the bill, I discovered I was tacked with a $2.93 "Service Charge" AND another $2.93 "TogoFee." Getting hit with nearly $6 in extra charges just to package up a takeout order is completely unreasonable. I couldn't decide what to eat so I got the two items I was looking at; a waffle and hash brown bowl. The food tasted exactly as I expected and came out fast. It's a quaint place that had a jukebox for guests to request songs. The staff had good customer service and our server Giglio was very friendly. Waffle House has become an iconic part of the landscape of the southeastern United States. These yellow neon lit buildings have fed countless road weary travelers, families with laughing children in tow, late night revelers and people from every walk of life. This particular location is right across the street from the bridge that will take you over to Navarre Beach. So it is very convenient for any tourists, plus it is on the main road so that would make it convenient for anyone. My go to choices are either the patty melt or one of their egg and meat breakfast options. But for me the big allure here has always been their hash browns. You can get the hash browns topped with a variety of toppings, you can't go wrong with chili and cheese, but really it is whatever talk to your heart. I guess you might find it odd that I have never had the waffles at a business where waffle is in their very name of the business but I am just not into the sweet type breakfasts. I think most people know what to expect when you go to Waffle House. A big 'ol huge portion, bottomless coffee and not paying a whole lot. Consistency is key here and they were spot on it it! We had a booth at the end, which was nice to keep us out of the hustle and bustle that was happening. As most know, the inside isn't all that huge, so it can be a bit loud, so we had a bit of an advantage with that. With three meals and coffee ordered, there wasn't enough room on the table for everything, which was hilarious! A plate for meat, a plate for your waffle and a plate for the rest of your meal! We combined our bacon and sausage to make some room. We didn't add any bells or whistles to our waffles, we just stuck with the traditional and it was exactly what we wanted. Gas t been to a Waffle House but had heard about them in the South( we are in NoCal). My wife and I had occasion to drive from Orlando to New Orleans and figured we'd give it a try. Basic comfort food on the menu. Simple organization inside and very friendly workers. I got a beef scramble over hash browns and my wife got scrambled eggs. All done well and tasty. There is an announced temporary 50c / egg surcharge which seems fair and I appreciate the clear disclosure. CROSS-CONTAMINATION The cook was apparently the manager. He didn't change his gloves between messing with the raw bacon, and then touching all handles, plates, food on plates, and so on. I addressed it with a request for him to change his gloves and he decided he needed to come argue with me that he's "been doing this for 20 years". If he's been doing this for twenty years, he should know better. The health department needs to shut this place down - or the owner should at least fire that guy. read more

There are those employees that do a good job and there are those employees that "make" a company. The gravy was soupy and my bacon and steak melt was burned to a crisp! I hate to give this place a 1 star review as 1st and 2nd shifts are wonderful, but the overnight crew is just garbage. Specifically the overnight grill op. This dude couldn't cook anything to save his life. I work in food service and would never serve a paying customer food that is burnt and covered in carbon from my flat top. Get this clown to learn how to cook and clean his equipment from time to time, or get him out of there and ill become a returning customer again. I highly recommend this place, it doesn't matter whether you go there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it's always a nice experience. The workers are usually very polite and the serving time is regularly short. You can also play music on the jukebox for a small price. The food was bad. Really, really bad. I felt so bad for the waitress and cooks because they seemed overwhelmed but they were not that busy. They were very disorganized and flustered.There was waffle batter everywhere and the mess was like my kids were in the kitchen cooking. Our waitress was sweet but I couldn't help but think of germs everywhere. Our table had stuck on food and we asked her to clean it and she wiped it with a dry napkin and my husband looked at her weird. The All Star special all the way Baby! Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day I can eat it anytime. The All Star has it all eggs hash browns (extra crispy with onions) bacon, a waffle (with chocolate chips) biscuit or Toast and coffee. They are everywhere and you can get the same service and food anywhere in the US. I've eaten at Waffle House in Huntsville Birmingham, Navarre Fla. and elsewhere.
