We had just arrived in a late flight and were super hungry. We ended up seeing this place across from our hotel. It was busy and had to wait for a table. It was first come first serve. It was a little disorganized since you had to claim your own table as soon as you saw someone leave. The food is priced appropriately. I had the typical breakfast of two eggs, bacon, hash brown and a waffle. Everything was good. They work hard in the kitchen. You can see the staff working non stop. Waffle House was recommended by the locals if we wanted to go to a 24/7 diner. A lot of restaurants in SC closes super early, especially in the winter. The bf and I ordered the hash browns, waffles, sausages, and cheese burger. The cheeseburger was so good! Simple, tasty, and refreshing! The waffles surprisingly was A-OK. Not very crispy or fluffy. Just more on the soggy side. The hash browns were crunchy and crispy! Definitely recommend! Service was friendly, but super slow. They took a while to make our waffles. Overall, we will be back for some late night munchies! AS ALWAYS, NOM FOR LIFE! read more

This was the nicest Waffle House we have ever been to . The bathrooms where spotless and the employees were so nice and were having such a good time laughing and singing . The food was the best I've had and I always order the same thing no matter what Waffle House I go to . Something about this place just didn't remind you of a typical Waffle House . Love love love Waffle House...just wish there were some of the up north. This chain hands down has the best tasting waffles out of anyone. A full breakfast (waffle, bacon, eggs, toast, grits and a drink) will run you about $10. It's affordable, fast, and very good. The locations are small but there's barely ever a long wait to be seated. If by one definitely check them out for breakfast. You won't regret it. read more

Extremely unorganized when you get there. when i was finally helped, the server was nice, she seemed pretty overwhelmed but was still friendly. Took my food to go because they were extremely crowded and there was no crowd control considering Covid. My food was cold, had to warm my food up when i got back to my hotel, which was only 6 minutes away. The food didn't taste bad, but i wouldn't eat there again. read more

It's Waffle House so it's just what it is. This one is a touch small but stays heavy traffic. Keeping up with cleaning seems to be a challenge but they try. Service is a touch below the beachfront and CF locations - probably attributable to the people volume. It gets LOUD in here! 90+db constant. If you've never been - it's a cross between a truck stop and a greasy diner. Have some hash browns or grits. Maybe a waffle. Two people can eat here under $10 and leave very filled for about $15-18 You'll leave happy if you don't arrive expecting fine dining. read more

This was my worst experience ever. Walked in, was not greeted nor seated. After figuring out you had to seat yourself, my partner and I sat at the bar area. Even right in front of their faces we were ignored for 20 minutes before we left. The servers and manager were assisting the people behind us as they walked in. One of the servers was playing on her phone ignoring customers. Def do not recommend! read more

We don't have Waffles Houses up north but I sure wish we did. The food is awesome and it's open late. The staff is what you'd expect from a diner at 3 in the morning but there's almost a charm to the cooks and servers screaming at each other. Manager was asleep in a booth next to us and the employees were banging on the register to get it to open. I don't really go for the service so it was great, would highly recommend. read more

As a 24\-year special education teacher and the sister of a brother with cerebral palsy, this experience was especially painful and disturbing to me\. We have eaten there many times, but after what happened today, we will not be returning\. I overheard a grown man and two grown women laughing about the "short bus" and making fun of children with disabilities, including children who wear helmets and hit their heads\. At one point, the child with them, who appeared to be around 10 years old, fell onto the floor and pretended to have a seizure while the adults were laughing\. What made this especially disturbing was that a young adult with cerebral palsy was sitting with his family approximately 10 feet away\. He was in a wheelchair, and his family was helping feed him\. I initially asked to move tables because I didn't want to listen to it anymore\. While we were moving, I asked our waitress if the man making the comments worked there\. She told me he was the owner\. He was wearing the restaurant shirt and was on duty\. I decided to tell him how I felt\. After we moved, he came over again, apologized, and said he has a "big mouth" and needs to watch what he says in public\. He then offered to pay for our lunch\. I declined\. I wanted to pay for our own meal\. I wasn't looking for a free meal--I wanted him to understand why his behavior was unacceptable\. Our waitress was very nice, and this is not about her\. I am sharing this because I believe people deserve to know what I personally witnessed when deciding where they spend their money\. An apology is appreciated, but disability should never be something adults teach children to laugh at\. So even though Stephanie told him to go ahead and give them their free dessert, he chose to offer the ten percent off locals discount. That was barely half of the price of the "free "dessert. In addition to that, we are already locals. So there should have been a 10% discount on the entire price AND a free dessert. We ordered coffee, an omelet, and a scrambled egg sandwich. One of the things that attracted us was the restaurant's claim of being a scratch kitchen that uses premium ingredients. Unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to those expectations. The coffee was disappointing--watery and weak. We were told they grind their own dark roast beans, which led me to expect an excellent cup of coffee. However, if too little coffee is used when brewing the pot, even great beans produce weak coffee. That was definitely the case here. At $4.00 per cup, I expect a quality cup of coffee, and this one simply wasn't worth the price or frankly, any price. The omelet was ordered with bacon and caramelized onions. We specifically asked our server to make sure the onions were well caramelized, but they were not. Even more noticeable was the amount of bacon. It completely overwhelmed the dish--it felt more like bacon with a little egg than an omelet. Finally, the scrambled eggs on the sandwich weren't really scrambled at all. They were cooked as one solid sheet, more like a thin omelet. For a restaurant that specializes in breakfast, brunch, and lunch, consistently preparing eggs should be one of its strengths. I truly hope whoever oversees the kitchen takes these comments in the constructive spirit they're intended. The restaurant has a great concept and quality ingredients, but paying closer attention to execution and consistency would make a significant difference. I'd be happy to give Famous Toastery another try if these issues are addressed.
