If you are from the south you know what you're getting at Waffle House, it's an entire experience. It's cheap tasty food available at any time. If you go at the right time there may be a fight in the parking lot. If there is a tornado warning you can probably still get a waffle but if they're closed due to weather then seek shelter. The food is nostalgic and delicious, ready fast, and it's filling. I had to make a quick visit to my home state of Kentucky and my trip is not complete without a visit to Waffle House. What more can I say. The waffles are 10/10, the hash browns are drenched in butter before frying before topping with cheese and onions, the toast and eggs are Waffle House will never let you down. Service is fast, I don't expect it to be friendly but southern hospitality is always on display, the ambiance is part of what makes it great. I don't expect fancy chairs, lighting, or Pinterest aesthetic, it's sticky booths, a visible Waffle House cook working hard before your eyes, a jukebox, and some drunk people a few booths away. Scattered hash browns, extra crispy + a pecan waffle has been my reliable, delectable and rib sticking go to for over 30 years. When I rolled into Lexington post midnight after a long day of travel, I knew that only WaHo would be open to quell my dinner craving. The food here is affordable, made to order and consistentl in taste and quality. Always fun to hear tunes on the juke box while you eat, and i appreciated the holiday decor. Menu is not as extensive as it used to be but the classics are still there. The pecan waffle is light, thin and studded with a generous portion of crunchy nuts which perfectly complement the sweet maple syrup. We don't have this diner chain treasure on the West Coast so I make sure to get my fix anytime I come down South. read more

Being from Northern California I've never tried a Waffle House before and was oddly excited to try it. I ended up here twice and both times were really good, better than most commercial diners and really really affordable. First visit my Server was Katie, got a bacon egg and cheese sandwich hash browns and a Diet Coke it was really busy and I still got my food in less then 10 minutes. The egg was still runny and it was a great sandwich. On my second visit i got a sausage hash brown bowl and it too was great, this place blew me away, just because the food was so good and affordable the Service was friendly and efficient. Waffle House is not my first choice. But my weekend in Lexington was not about me, it was about my Dad and he wanted to eat here. Plus it was right across the street from our hotel and it was the only place open after we got back from the Wildcats game. Once we walked in we were told we just missed the rush. Most booths had dirty dishes as they had not had a chance to clean up yet. We set at the counter instead. The waitress took a break so the cook waited on us. He was very friendly and talked to us for a few minutes. I ordered a cheeseburger with a side of hash browns and my dad got a breakfast bowl. I was pleasantly surprised as my cheeseburger was tasty and served with lettuce, tomato and onion. And the hash browns were delicious, nice and crispy. My Dad enjoyed his meal too. Open 24 hours with amazing hash browns? Yes, please!! After two busy days of a drive from Chicago in our RV (with an overnight stop in Indiana), and a blown out tire (plus all the fun with that), we dropped a good friend off at the Blue Grass Airport early yesterday morning and immediately searched for a place to eat. A sign for Waffle House grabbed our attention. Waffle House sure isn't the healthiest or fanciest place to eat, but it's pretty cheap and open early enough in the morning. Since they don't have them up near Chicago, we were eager to get there and chow down on some greasy goodness. Waffle House didn't disappoint. Quick and good (but so unhealthy) food with friendly smiles. This location seems kind of new, so it was clean and bright, not run-down like some other locations I've visited in the south. The food was cheap-ish and the coffee was just OK. I didn't have big expectations anyway... just a hungry stomach and a need for caffeine! My brain awoke and my stomach filled up. I understand having bad days at work but it is not acceptable to take it out on your customers. If you want your customers to do something a certain way, maybe make sure your restaurant is organized and your staff is actually paying attention. Ah, Waffle House. The last refuge of the late nighters, partiers, and somewhat shady characters. We were in town for a comedy show and ended up going out for some beers with some friends we made. Unfortunately, we didn't order much in the way of food and found the kitchen closed before leaving. Enter Waffle House! We were staying in a hotel nearby so when we parked, a little despairingly having found no nearby food joints open, we were ecstatic to see Waffle House just across the parking lot! After a few drinks and being tired, it actually sounded better than anything else I could have picked! So we walked over and grabbed a spot at the counter. Sixteen bucks later, we were satisfied with waffles and bacon! I got my waffle with pecans and peanut butter chips. After I added syrup, I think that may have been one of the most perfect waffles I've ever had! These aren't Belgian waffles with big grids for holding syrup; they are the flatter kind made from those old-school waffle makers we all grew up with. The staff was friendly and our order came out quick. I'll keep this place in mind next time I'm in town. (Likely, as Lexington is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to visit!) read more

Here early on Saturday morning for a big breakfast. I ordered the two eggs with hash browns biscuit added side of gravy for a buck and a double the potatoes for 50 cents. The food came out fast and hot cooked to order served on a real plate. This huge farmhand sized breakfast was just under $ 8 including coffee. Sometimes I drop in for a burger in the evening which is also very good. Waffle House is a good stop when traveling in the south. read more

Walked in and almost all of the tables had chains in front of them so you can't sit at but one or two booths. There was nobody in sight and the only table open was dirty. It was only about 10:30 and this location is open 24/7. We sat down at the only open table even though it was dirty because we didn't know what to do. The server came over and wiped down our table which we thought was fine, we just didn't know what to do other than sit down. She also didn't say a word to us until she took our order. The food was delicious but the customer service was terrible. The workers also talked about how they were going to lock the door and won't serve anyone for the next 20 minutes if they did come in, even though there was only us (4 people) and another couple eating in. Waitress was very friendly. However the guy on shift today cooking had no gloves on and was cracking raw eggs which you could watch drip off his hands. He then would proceed to touch other food and plates that we're getting ready be sent out to customers. Never washed his hands. Major cross contamination going on. It is getting SO frustrating, constantly receiving sub par food and service during this pandemic.... while ALL the restaurants EXPECT huge tips and sympathy for the inadequate quality. I mustered up the strength to try a T-Bone steak from here, LOL. It was OK, at best, very thin and most of it quite tough, BUT what could I expect from Waffle House? That said, I called prior for the price, then showed up and ordered. I was told I could replace the salad with cheese grits (she NEVER mentioned there would be an "UP-charge.") I was quoted a price of $12. When food was ready, she said the total was ~15.00. I said, "HOW is that? You said it was $12." She said, "Well, PLUS tax and all that." I said, "WHAT is "all that? Tax is 72 cents so it should be $12.72 Total." She said, "Well I charged you for the cheese in the grits and the carry-out fee." I said, "Shouldn't you have told me of these charges when I ordered and asked IF I agreed to pat them?". She had no answer and I ALMOST just walked out and left the food without paying, BECAUSE of this shyster way of UP-charging. I normally tip 30% and would have given her $5, BUT because of this lack of revealing these charges up front and ADDING $2 to the bill without even disclosing and/or asking if I accepted, I gave her nothing. I really wish I would have rejected the charges/order and left the food without paying. The grits were watery as hell, the hash browns were WAY under cooked and cold in the middle and the steak was below average, at best. I am just tired of SUB-PAR service and the expectation of tips for "to-go orders" from these restaurants. This was Beaumont Center location. read more

Here you will have some standard breakfast foods such as has browns, eggs, bacon, sausage, and you guessed it, waffles. For those of you who have been to a Waffle House, what sets this one apart is the cleanliness of the store, the speed and efficiency of them getting your meal to you, the consistency of a good product and most of all the friendly staff. Pros: Staff is GREAT, atmosphere is fun because you get to watch the food being made up close and hear the ladies call out the orders. Food - good 'ol American breakfast. Nothing healthy about it! I love the cheese and eggs (they mix it in a cast iron skillet which gives the cheese a chance to melt into the creamiest texture), second favorite is the Texas bacon cheesesteak melt, super fatty but sooooooo good. I mean you aren't coming here to feel good about your waistline. You're coming here to eat naughty deliciously fatty food. Hash browns are the bomb, crispy on top (they even made it into a heart shape for me once!). My hubby likes the BLT as well, they don't skimp on the bacon which is nice. Cons: Um.....it's not good for you? Oh and the coffee kind of sucks but I generally get hot tea anyways. Scientific Conclusion: We come here every other Sunday, it's a tradition. So Great Staff + Yummy Greasy Food = Amazing and you should eat here. read more

Picture this it's Christmas Eve you make a reservation at an Asian restaurant to tis the season. You show up it's packed your table isn't ready. You sit down 30 minutes after your reservation and the waiter tells you after you've ordered your food is going to take over an hour. Your family is panicking your going to be late to church so you leave without even getting your food. You go to church praise Jesus while STARVING. It's now 10pm on Christmas Eve, and nothing is open but trusty Waffle House. We show up, get excellent service and exquisite food. 10/10 would recommend if your ever in this situation. read more

This is by far the worst Waffle House in the city . Nothing against older folks in the work place but this Waffle House might not have an employee under 50 ... this creates a multitude of problems from slow service to long waits for a table to incorrect orders etc... I went here on a Sunday way after church had let out and had to wait over 15 minutes before someone talked to me at the bar ... then after my order was finally taken (from a lady that had been sitting right next to me the entire fifteen minutes I was in the restaurant counting her tips) it took another 20 mins to revive my food , bacon was burnt because the fifty some odd year old man that made it had twenty orders up in front of him and could in no way keep up . If your familiar with how this place works they jus yell out the order old school diner style and expect this old timer to remember what exactly that order was ... pretty shameful for a place like this to leave all of these older people to work with no POS no ticket system no way of giving the customer a good shot at getting why they ordered correctly ... I mean my waitress bless her heart made my Waffle for me bc no else did and she messed up the way I ordered it but I didn't complain bc it wasn't her fault she was jus tryn be helpful... but all in all I'd steer clear of this place and shoot on up the street to a local breakfast spot read more

This review is about 2 years past due ~ sorry for the delay. We were in Lexington for a couple of days for our brother's marriage. We're originally from California. We were up late, and hungry. We yelped it, and went to waffle house. We had a bit larger party, and the table settings were for 4 people at the most. We were about to walk out when this kind lady rearranged tables for us, and served us the best breakfast EVER!!! She introduced us to "Southern Hospitality" and let me tell you guys, we were IMPRESSED with her hospitality. She made our visit very enjoyable, and even after 2 years, I still remember her. Sorry I forgot her name, but I did take her pic that I never deleted from my phone :-) So yeah, regards to her! Love the old school style cafe and Fresh, tasty food!

This location is nice, clean, bright and friendly. Unlike some other chain restaurants, the friendliness at this Waffle House location never feels 'forced'. They aim for a fun atmosphere, and succeed. I've been twice in the past few months, and both times the servers did a stellar job of refilling my coffee cup (three times!), so you'll be in the right place if a continual supply of coffee is important to you! The food was good - standard Waffle House fare. Both times I ordered a hot chocolate for my young son and I requested it to be not too hot for him and they did a good job fulfilling that request (in my experience, not all cafes or restaurants will actually remember to do that if asked). There were obviously some 'regulars' there both times I was there (customers the staff knew and greeted by name when they came in), which I also thought was a good sign - that some customers liked it enough to be regulars, and that the staff knew who they were. The other thing I like is its easy-to-get-to standalone location set back from the road: it's not crammed right in next to other stores or next to a busy highway, unlike many other Waffle Houses. You can get in and out easily, despite being right near New Circle off Harrodsburg Road, and there is plenty of parking. read more

Well let's see, where to start, the staff acts like they are at home not in a business. Boyfriends are apparently welcome to come to work with you, run in and out and get food from other places and eat in the restaurant while talking about things I was hoping they weren't actually talking about in ear shot of my kids. Secondly booths are phone charging stations for the ever slacking staff. One end of the counter is for purses and jackets and crap they bring to work with them. Not for customers to sit at. How silly?? Then the servers may or may not remember to get your refills and things you ask for in between talking on the phone, because remember their phones are charging. Then tables aren't wiped down even though there is only one or 2 tables. I kept jumping from being started by the screaming across the restaurant and cackling. The reason I gave 3 stars is because the food was good. The cook was great. Then he left. For all I know he was sleeping in a car outside by the way this place is ran. Will we go back? Nope probably not even though we live nearby. It's just gone down and down further. And if I wanted to get up and get my own things I'd just stay home. read more
