Came to Malone's for Lexington Restaurant Week. The salmon was great as always and the wild rice was a great addition! Very flavorful and paired well with the salmon. Sadly, though the new cookie dessert is just pitiful. Thin, crispy, and rock hard cookies with a dollop of whipped cream. The ice cream didn't even come with it, I had to ask for it. My friends and I were so disappointed as the waiter told us that this sad cookie dessert is the new birthday dessert for the restaurant. Major downgrade from the old dessert! But other than the cookies, our meal was great and service was excellent as always! read more

Astonished that because of a freeway sign food advertisement for Malones that we had the best breakfast/ brunch of the year. Nice high rated restaurant with great food. Our waitress Tori came to our table 8 times inspecting without encroaching or bugging us and wish all waitstaff elsewhere could see how simple it is to give the best service! But the food as well was superb! Thanks to the posting on this freeway sign in Lexington we found this hidden gem! I included the dinner menu which changes but those wanting to see it too. My husband and I visited yesterday. Reservations at 5 for 2 people. We arrived somewhat early via Uber. The hostess said quietly about booths may not be available yet as staff were in a meeting or something like that. She said it very softly and no smile on her face. We were fine with a table. Server was excellent. He was very friendly and made recommendations. We got a martini and neat bourbon to start. They were good. The crudo for an appetizer was delicious! We also got a Lexingtonian and a Caesar salad. Both good but slightly overdressed in my opinion. We got the twin filet for dinner (Oscar style) with Brussels sprouts. Cooked perfectly very yummy. Fantastic service from Davin. Second time had him as our server and he makes for an extremely pleasant meal out. Had multiples of the fresh bread per usual and I ordered the Mediterranean dips appetizer (happy hour special) and for entree their New York strip with shrimp chimichurri that comes with Lexingtonian salad and classic side. The dips were decent but didn't love how they fried and seasoned the pita bread. Next time if I order it I'll ask if can get plain pita because the seasoning was overpowering and I order those dips as a healthy option which is countered by frying the bread (ended up just using the bread for the table which worked well). The Lexingtonian salad was perfect for me with it being extra ranchy and lots of bacon and my steak was cooked perfectly but was super salty and the skin of my potato was covered in salt. I'll need to remember to ask for no salt next time but wish they'd just leave salt off everytime. Got the cookie and ice cream for dessert and when you get that bite in the middle with the super warm cookie and ice cream it is something you'll keep thinking about after. Overall, a great meal despite the excess salt because the service was impeccable and the value for everything you get is incredible. read more

I have ate at Malone's several times but this was my first time trying the brunch menu, and it did not disappoint my favorite was the quiche because the cheese sauce on top with all the bacon tasted delicious. The potato's were surprisingly good as well, as I thought they looked a little dry, but the taste was so good. First time trying Malone's new weekend brunch! They had a limited menu but something for everyone. The lemon ricotta pancakes were exceptional. They had the perfect amount of fluff and the lemon taste wasn't overbearing. We ordered the breakfast burrito but got it "naked" aka without the tortilla and it was so delicious. My only gripe would be that the avocado toast wasn't toasted. It was just on a soft piece of bread which was disappointing. I opted to get the eggs scrambled instead of sunny side up as the menu states and I'm glad I did because with the bread being untoasted it couldn't support the weight of the avocado or eggs enough to hold it with my hands. This location is THEEE top tier steakhouse in Kentucky! Signatures of Chefs, Singers, Football Players, and so on, that have visited the restaurant and signed their name on a memorabilia , that hangs along the restaurant walls. I visited in a group of 3 to discuss feedback from a camp that had been completed, during the week. Even though it was storming and raining Clydesdale horses, we managed to make it safe. Top tier customer service! From the waiter's mannerisms, his knowledge of bourbon, the smile on his face of enjoying "the pleasure to assist you with anything you need tonight ". Amazing etiquette young Man!! I'll figure out his name. He needs a raise and I made sure to tip him accordingly. Food was exceptional! From the apps of Parm crusted fried asparagus, THAT CRAB RANGOON ROLL (bussinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn), the filets, salmon picatta, THAT BREAD & CHIVE BUTTER, and anything that says "garlic, lemon, Parm". Had a friend in town from out of state. We stopped in here for dinner last night. Sat at the bar in Harry's. My buddy couldn't believe how busy the restaurant was on a Monday night. The service, the atmosphere, the whiskey (of course!) and the food. I personally had filet mignon and can definitively say it was the best I've ever had! Arrived around 7:30pm on a Thursday. It was busy. There were not many tables open, however, we found a table big enough to seat six of us but just needed to be cleaned. Asked for the table to be cleaned out and it was done. We sat, ordered drinks including beers, unsweet tea and water for each of us. The server was very nice and kind, drinks were brought out in about five to ten minutes. Then we placed our main dish orders along with some appetizers. Most of us ordered steaks with rare, medium-rare and medium cooked. However, one steak that was supposed to be rare looked more like medium or even medium-well done. Regardless, the steaks were really good and even the menu says 10oz, it looked like it could be 16oz. Also, steaks came with one side - corn, mashed potatoe, asparagus, broccoli, fries or mc and cheese. One of the sides was brought out wrong when we ordered broccoli, the server brought out corn. I had Grilled Salom Piccata. It was amazing! Huge juicy salmon fillet on top of linguini, the portion was too much to finish in one seating and I normally don't leave the dish unfinished but I could not get linguini cleaned off of the plate. When we ordered an additional beer, again, we got the wrong beer. It's pretty expensive restaurant/bar looking at the menu and orders seem to be not placed correctly. Steaks not being cooked as we asked and wrong sides/beer being brought out. However, the server was very nice, just few mistakes we just had to address. Overall, good dinner experience and the place got really slow after 8pm/8:30pm -ish. read more

Let me start by saying I love Malones. I have frequented each location for many, many years and it is always the go-to spot for my husband and me to have a great dinner for special occasions. Sneaking away for lunch is a rarity as we have three kids and work, but today we made plans to go to the Palomar location. I had high hopes for the lunch. However, as soon as we arrive, we are seated next to a very busy, very chatty table. Literally right next to them in the front dining area where there are at least four open tables at this point. I should have said something to the person who seated us, but I had not realized exactly how hard it was going to be for my husband and I to talk or just enjoy a nice quiet lunch until after she had walked away. Our server came over and I asked her if we could move to a different table, as there were several open at that point. She said that shouldn't be a problem and went to ask the person who I assume was the manager on duty. (I did not get names.) I happened to look up as she is seemingly asking the manager (she had blonde hair and seemed to be 50ish?) and I see the her make a face as if she is annoyed that we would even ask and shrug her shoulders. Seeing that our server was in an awkward position and not wanting to cause issues, I told her just to forget about it. We'd make where we were work. We were at a two person table, and I thought that with the lunch crowd coming in, the tables in our area might fill quickly. However, about an hour into the lunch, those tables were still open. The longer those tables sat open the more frustrated I became. We could have easily been moved to one of those tables and I am not sure why the manager reacted the way that she did. All I wanted was a nice quiet lunch with my husband before school ended for the year and our schedules become hectic. The reaction of the manager was really, really disappointing. I come to Malones for ambiance, for a great meal and to be treated well. As far as today, the only person we received that from was our amazing server. I guess if Malones is going to be on the menu for us it will either be the Hamburg or Tates Creek locations. read more

Decided to go for the Aqua Sushi since they don't typically cook steak correctly here. It's all basically various riffs of a california roll. They're ok. Not worth the higher price point. It's hard to beat Malone's when it comes to steak and seafood. We went recently for a late Valentine's Day lunch; we had a gift card, so we spent more than we usually would. Our drinks took a while to come out even though the restaurant wasn't too busy, but our server was very attentive and the rest of our meal was served promptly. As for the food itself, it was delicious as usual. We both had the Lexingtonian salad, which is basically a BLT in salad form. The dressing is SO good - I would buy it in a bottle if they sold it. I had the steak and lobster and my husband had steak and shrimp. I had plenty of food leftover for the next day - just be careful reheating so you don't overcook the steak! read more

We went to Malones after a day at Keeneland - we were a half hour early but they got us in no problem despite being pretty busy on a Saturday night. Ordered drinks right away, had 2 great waiters. Ordered the beef carpaccio and the shrimp cocktail, both good but the shrimp cocktail got rave reviews esp cause of the fresh horseradish. Salad followed immediately (like 2 minutes) and then our entrees (sirloin, filet, Manhattan NY strip, kale salad with salmon and pork chops) were out less than 10 minutes later. They had asked us around timing and we specified we did not want all the food at once but that's what we ended up with - entrees getting cold while trying to finish apps, salad barely touched - and 400 unmanageable plates on the table. Don't get me wrong, the food was great, the general service also great as far as attentiveness and getting us in early, but felt super rushed for a nice dinner. Steaks all cooked right, my potato croquettes were amazing, Mac and cheese delish - would go back hoping timing was a kitchen issue. TL, DR - Food was great across the board, servers attentive, food came out rapid pace to the point it was overwhelming, definitely would go back regardless cause it was so good. read more

We had 530 pm reservations and got there right on time. For a new years it was already busy and we only had to wait about ten minutes. Server was Tyler and he did an excellent job all evening. It was so busy but never felt rushed . We had appetizers, their delicious salad, a great dinner and no room for dessert but it all sounded wonderful. Malones is a staple in Lexington. The service is quick and friendly, the food is good, and prices are pretty reasonable. I love that they have a blend of foods, typical steakhouse fare but also sushi and burgers, so you can find something for everyone - or if you are like me you can get a little if everything.
