We love Waffle House in general, but when you walk into one like this one, where the food is warm & tasty, but, the welcoming smiles are warmer and the service is on point, it reminds me of why we love going to Waffle House. Our server was so professional and attentive, from right when we walked into the door, to when we walked out. She really wowed us by taking care of every single thing from refills, to taking orders for sides we wanted to add and making sure we were well fed and had everything right on the order for a relaxed and satisfying dining experience. Waffle House is a true American dining experience and a great reminder of the Southern Hospitality. We love our breakfast and love Waffle House! Maybe it was a bad day? I love Waffle House but this one wasn't too good. Nothing was terrible but it wasn't too good. Wife wanted crispy bacon and it was a mix of "raw" and crispy. Some folk don't find the Waffle House all that good but I tell you to give it a try. The food is hot and hot coffee always good tasting and served , in fact the coffee is better here than some barista's. make. (Now that's a compliment of highest). You never know who you will meet in the restaurant! My friend from PA said she had the best burger ever there but I've always stuck to breakfast because when you want A hearty breakfast WAFFEL HOUSE name says it all!! We stopped here for breakfast on 4/19. Our server must have been brand new. She couldn't answer any questions and when we asked for the larger menu she gave us an inventory sheet. Always a good breakfast with excellent fast service. You will never have to wait for another cup of coffee because the servers are always checking on you. I always get the everyday breakfast; scrambled eggs, hash browns, toast and crispy bacon. The waffles are good too sweet and yummy! read more

We stopped by this famous restaurant (not a franchise, but privately owned, btw) on the way from NJ to Chattanooga, TN. That photo from Vance F. was exactly our view from where we were sitting...in the corner booth. We usually get stuck in corner areas because we have young kids...boys in particular...4 of them. So the whole "nobody puts baby in a corner" never applies to us. Anyway, she was the same waitress that worked there. And I will never forget the experience that we had there as a true testament to southern hospitality. A man sitting at the counter, in the same exact spot in that same aforementioned picture, ordered a bowl of grits. He complained that his portion was small. That same waitress says, "Calm down. Do you need a hug?" The man did a 180 and immediately his sour face turned into smiles and laughter. It totally threw him off and me too. That just doesn't ever happen in NJ. So that started us out with a comfortable, better mood. The mood got even better after we ordered and received our food in a timely manner. We ordered the waffles, of course, country ham, bacon, eggs and grits (can't go to the south without ordering grits!) We all pretty much shared everything. They gave sizable portions. The country ham slice still had the bone in and it was so tasty, not too salty, and perfectly cooked with the added bonus of some crunchiness in the outer parts of the ham. That was the best thing that we had because we don't usually have that in NJ. The waffles were good as expected. Everything else was as good as breakfast foods can get. Next time we drive to the south, we'll definitely make it a tradition to stop by Waffle House. Any one will do. Just as long as we can savor that country ham. That was hamtastic! read more

While generally a fan of Waffle House anyway, this one was likely the most friendly and welcoming of any of the many we have dined at. Morning breakfast shift and you could tell there was true teamwork and team spirit in action at this location. Our server was Jon. He was quick, polite, and eager to please. The order was on our table in a flash. Jon explained that he'd relocated to Dandridge from Illinois. We think Dandridge is lucky to have you and Illinois is the loser in that equation. Keep up the great work. Everyone has a bad day, apparently even Waffle House. The real measure is not whether a bad day occasionally comes to pass, but how the "team" handles it. On this particular bad day, the food didn't make the cut and the staff failed to handle it properly. We will not be returning. How can you "mess up" grits? Well, to start with you can serve them under-cooked. Being served under-cooked grits at a Waffle House is like being served a cup of melted ice cream at Baskin Robins. There's just no excuse. It can lead to such disappointment, it almost should be a capital crime. Many people, including me, don't go to Waffle Houses up and down the East Coast for their waffles (I don't particularly like waffles). We go there for the grits which have been, until now, predictably good. Okay, the grits were bad. What could make things worse? The failure of the "team" to express even the slightest understanding of the importance of doing grits right. This from a Waffle House? From a Waffle House in the South? Come on. I didn't expect these young people to fall over themselves to express personal grief over the abject failure, but the least they could do is say something to the effect that the Sun didn't rise that morning so they missed the boat and forgot to note the cooking time. Nope. Not even "Oh, my Gawd, Bless that short order cook's heart. He needs to go back to grit cook'n 101." Seriously guys. Mistakes happen. Most of us are not looking for anything other than acknowledgement and an apology for not getting it right. When customers leave wondering if the staff would prefer not even be POLITELY told about shortcomings, someone should get some retraining or a new job. Train the staff to express empathy. :-( read more

We evacuated here from Hurricane Irma and since this little diner had 5 star reviews on the food and outstanding customer service, we decided to give it a try. A five star Waffle House? You bet! Everything was perfectly cooked by Randy just as promised by our server Nikki. You never know what to expect at the Waffle House, but I am happy to report that on our visit everything was delicious and the service was top notch. When my husband ordered a steak Nikki asked "how'd you like that cooked?" My response was jokingly, "Waffle House steaks come well done". Nikki replied "with randy cooking it will be whatever temp you'd like it". She was correct! Randy can indeed cook a medium Waffle House steak. Thanks for an awesome meal and service. read more
