We stopped at a hotel in Dandrige during the snowstorm and was within walking distance of the shoney's restaurant. We went in and not very busy but just a few people showed up for work. The lady who waited on us was the only person waiting tables. She treated us like we were her only customers. I have never had this good of service at any restaurant even high end restaurants. She was amazing, these people get out in this terrible weather and still have a great attitude and do amazing work. The food was hot and very good. Oh man, was this disgusting. When you see baked spaghetti on the menu of a restaurant like Shoney's. I expected Ragu over spaghetti. What I did not expect was chefboyardee over spaghetti topped with fake mozzarella cheese. Fake? How is it fake? We didn't expect much from a breakfast buffet on the highway, but this Shoney's exceeded all expectations. The scrambled eggs were good and fresh. The seasoned rice was a nice touch. Nothing was soggy or full of condensation from the hearing trays. The biscuits were nice and fresh, probably the best fast food/ restaurant biscuits Ive ever had. Gave two stars because the staff was friendly and there were no issues with service. Also, the salad bar was okay. The food from the rest of the food bar though was not good. I ended up pretty much just eating salad. The soups were empty. Nothing was labeled. I tried almost everything, and it just wasn't good quality. It was my first time visiting, but will probably be my last. However, I do want to be upfront that I didn't say anything because when it's the quality of the product and not the employees or the building little can be done. We stopped here while passing through and tried the food buffet. I was very surprised at the huge selection and how well prepared everything was that I tried. Had the catfish breaded in cornmeal flash fried to perfection, cod in a beer type batter, kale, green beans, Cole slaw, and salad from the salad bar section. Everything was so fresh and delicious - up to par with a nice, pricy, dinner restaurant. My husband had fried chicken breast which was cooked to perfection, nice crust and tender, juicy meat along with mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, salad, cornbread and much more that I can't think of. He loved everything he tried. Our waitress was so friendly and kept our table cleared of used dishes almost immediately. This is the best Shoney's we've ever visited. Actually it's better than many finer restaurants much to our surprise. We'll definitely make this our stop next time we're traveling though! read more

The only complaint is that they did have gloves to wear for everyone but some people didn't wear them or wear there mask at the bar. I think it should have been enforced. Thanksgiving meal was decent. As soon as we stepped from our table for desert, the our table was cleared. When we got back they apologized, which was fine. Then we asked for our bill again, and the older gentleman that cleaned our table got the original bill from the trash and gave it to us, I could tell it was from the trash because it had mysterious liquids all over it. Literally so nasty. Never coming back and I'm telling my friends not to either unless they want stuff from the trash. read more

I'm not one to stop by a Shoney's since many of the various chains have been very disappointing. My brother who lives close in the area said this one was ok and it was some distance for us as we were traveling to somewhere else. We came at a pretty busy time about midday on a Sunday. The waitress repeatedly forgot things but she was very polite and it was easy to see past the initial mishaps. Food was better than other locations hands down. Nothing exceptional but it was acceptable. I got burger, fries and a milkshake. Milkshake was best part of experience. read more

I live in Jefferson City, and my daughter and I frequent this Shoney's at least once a week. Tonight we went and there were 2 travel buses in the parking lot. We were seated immediately but sat for almost 5 minutes waiting on a server. The Assistant Manager, Becki, saw us and since she recognized us as regulars, came over to take care of us. She apologized for the wait, explained that with a party of 100 it was a little crazy, and then took our order. She kept our table and made sure we got our food promptly and our drinks never ran out. Becki realized that while they want to serve everyone promptly and efficiently, taking care of your local, regular customers should definitely be a priority as they are the ones who keep your business open. When I walked in I saw the cook surveying the buffet and I knew we really had come to the right place. Everything was just right including the fried chicken. The cabbage soup is perfect. Only thing we liked was a full salad bar in these days of Covid. Had to wear gloves. Only had spinach and iceberg lettuce but lots of items. Spinach dip tasted like canned soup and cheese. Internet said full bar even showed pictures of a real bar. No such thing here. Service was good. read more

However, since the recent remodel they have changed their menus and the salad bar and desert bar is no longer included and they wouldn't even charge to add it on, and they charged 3 dollars extra to add chicken to my spaghetti when it use to be a menu item. It wasn't even worth it the chicken was dry, it the tea tasted as though they haven't cleaned their tea urns as recently as they should. Me and my family went to eat on Sunday, and we always eat here on Sundays. The food was and always is wonderful, but the reason I'm giving two stars is because our waitress, Christine, came and took our drink orders, brought the drinks and the ticket, and after that she was no longer our waitress. She went to every other table except ours at least 12 times while sitting there, but just ignored us. After a few plates being piled up another waitress came and took them. It has been several years since my wife and I ate at a Shoney's. We stopped for dinner at the Dandridge, TN location. We were not impressed. Both of us had the buffet. My first pass, I had salad. That was OK. Next I had bland mashed potatoes with tasteless gravy and chicken. The chicken was nothing to write home about. Next I had paste macaroni and cheese. It was almost like Kraft Mac and Cheese. The would have been better with deep fried fish. The fish was greasy almost seemed like the oil was not up to the proper temperature. For dessert, I decided to have "fresh fruit.". The cantaloupe was over ripe and had no taste, the kool-whip with fruit was too warm to eat. The tastiest items I had was the water with lemon and jello. At one time Shoney's was a favorite. It is no longer in the top 25. read more

0/10 would not recommend stopping by this place after 4 p.m! from first hand experience i know how awful the night shift servers are, and there's no way on earth i would support them or this company. the food is way over priced for how mediocre it is, and as a former employee i can promise you all the night shift servers are extremely lazy and do not clean the place as they should. that being said, it's pretty safe to come here between 6 am and 3 pm. overall, store 21 should be shut down. maybe open a cracker barrel instead? :) read more
