Had a need for food and saw this on the side of the road. We made our order through DoorDash wanting to keep rolling but we ended up eating it in the parking lot. Customer service is kind. They don't speak much English. The inside looked clean and accommodating. I ordered the pork carnitas with chile verde and the pork was tender and flavorful. The spice was enough for me but may be a lot for others. Great meal. The chicken and beef nachos were a lot of food. Downside is the chips weren't that good and the chips and salsa on the side I couldn't even get through as they were old and stale tasting. read more

We pulled up and at first weren't expecting much as it was attached to a gas station. However, it was amazing! Everyone was happy with their food. My mum sad this was the best ACP (Pollo Loco, as they call it) she has ever had. The service was amazing. The waiters were super friendly and willing to joke with us. My husband and I were driving by the interstate and this restaurant is conveniently located next to a quick stop/gas station. We are traveling with a service dog but wasn't sure if they allow service pets. Outdoor patio has no lighting and the gate to exit is locked with a lock. We ordered our food to go and was ready within 15-20 mins. Salad was terrible, I ordered a quesadilla fajita and had almost to no chicken. My husband a T-Bone steak and was cooked all the way when we requested medium. The steak was small and thin. The portion of the meals were small. The customer service was okay. Now called PANCHOS & AMIGOS. The only take-out in my 71 years I actually THREW IN THE GARBAGE!! If I had ordered a sit down meal I would have walked out without paying! Horrible, horrible food. So BLAND--absolutely NO seasoning. After callling ahead 5 times (unanswered) I took a chance and drove there and after waiting 40 minutes for a cashier to take my order (only 2 tables sitting), I asked the cashier to tell the cook to season my meal. Nope, not a chance. While waiting, I talked to the manager about my concerns on a previous visit. He didn't even look at me and didn't say a word. How rude! He couldn't care less. They have a huge menu with lunch and dinner specials. My favorite is Pollo Sante Fe (grilled chicken, peppers, onions and mushrooms smothered in cheese with side of rice and beans, warm tortillas plus a delicious bag of fresh tortilla chips with salsa. 2nd favorite is Pollo California which is similar but no cheese and has more veggies but no matter what you order it's all good.  Customer service is great and our order is always correct. We're on a road trip to the east coast to visit our soldier. While driving, we decided to stay over at Dandridge, TN and have a look around. Of course, we checked Yelp reviews and decided to give Toro a try. The staff was friendly and the menu had lots of options. It looked like genuine Mexican food restaurant to me (Having grown up in Southern California I should have an idea of what to expect). The food was great! Large portions, lots of meat, beans and rice and salad. The salsa was tasty but a little thin IMHO, other than that I was pleasantly surprised. The Chicken was perfectly cooked and tender. I was worried because this place is on a main strip, which usually means a pile of gimmicky crap. Plus we are from TX! It was pretty darn good. Enjoyed my enchilada trio, even though they got my order wrong. I liked that I could choose three different flavors. There were chips and salsa already at the table when we sat. This USED to be a great Mexican restaurant, pre 2022. Lately their male server Leonardo has gotten a real snotty attitude as if your business means nothing to him. Spends most of his time sitting, talking to cronies and then claims he is too busy to help you when asked. The salsa has been watered down, chips are stale and the food overcooked to the point of being burned. It didn't used to be this way, but now they are changing ownership to Pancho Amigos. Too bad, the good food they used to serve will me missed. Perhaps a new establishment will open up locally. read more

My wife and I were staying in Dandridge while checking out the Smoky Mountain area. Our first night there we went to Toro and it was so much fun. The food and margaritas were both amazing and our server was very warm and friendly. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we came back a couple of days later and the second experience was just as good as the first! This time I got a Dos Equis Dark on tap and I swear it was the best Dos Equis I have ever had. I don't know if it was really the beer or just the great atmosphere and service but it tasted so fresh and flavorful. Highly recommended if you are looking for an awesome place to get some delicious food and drinks while being helped by a chill and fun staff. read more

Surprise! Wasn't quite expecting the meal that we got. It's really good Mexican food. The salsa was just average but we had Chicken Fajita Nachos and Burrito California and both were very good. Their cheese dip has an extra something that I couldn't place but gives it a chili look and flavor. For the south, they have really good Mexican food. Definitely recommend the Jalisco Fajita. And if you want a good drink, try Horchata, sometimes they don't have any though, which is disappointing. read more

We stopped here on the way to Delaware and it was pretty good. If I could, I would give it 3 1/2 stars. I mean the girl waiting on us could've been more enthusiastic. But other than that the food was pretty good. Rice was kind of dry though. And they could at least fill up all the hot sauce bottles. Toro was great! The main parking lot is around back so don't be alarmed if it looks like there aren't a lot of cars there. It was packed when we went. Our waitress let us know that it would take a little longer to get our food which was nice since we were on a six hour trip. The food was perfect! I can't speak as a regular, but as someone passing through, this place was a gold mine amongst fast food junk. My server was friendly and chatty, salsa was great (a little watery, but still good), and my fajitas were seasoned well, good cuts of meat, and cooked to perfection. This is not the place it once was. My guess is that it has switched ownership. Even post covid, the place was hopping at lunch time. The owner was coming around, all smiles, checking on everyone. It is now like a ghost town with no familiar faces. The server was friendly and efficient. The food went from being pretty darn good to not even holding a candle to taco bell. The nachos were microwaved, not baked, with no much more than a tablespoon of shredded cheese on them. We asked for cheese dipping sauce, without complaining about the bare nachos. We were charged for it. We asked for sauces that was missing from enchiladas, again, without complaining. We were charged for it. It is really sad to see such a cool place change in such a way. This wasn't a bad day. This is an entirely new restaurant. The local folks must have already realized this because they've lost their steady lunch crowd. read more

In a world of Mexican restaurants that open cans for everything, Toro gave me HOMEMADE corn tortillas, HOMEMADE pick de gallo, HOMEMADE fried rice, HOMEMADE refried beans and HOMEMADE salsa. Plus, the mixture of steak and chorizo in my tacos was made of thick, fresh meat. The rice is loose, falls off the fork, and has the glistening orange oily glow that a properly made Mexican rice should have. If you like authentic, homemade-from-scratch Mexican cuisine, I recommend this restaurant highly. read more

Decided to try some Mexican food. So this place has good reviews, and we'd give it a try. First off, its attached to A gas station, normally that concerns me, but considering the reviews we thought will go in. Should have stuck to my intial gut feeling. Server was nice but somewhat distracted by on of the cooks (flert), she was friendly but not real familiar with the menu. Took awhile to get our drinks, but she was fairly quick. Food came out quickly, hot and looking ok. Now to let you know, where I'm from there are a lot of quality Mexican restaurant's so I might be spoiled. Neither my wife or I particularly cared for our food. It was good, but nothing special. Perhaps in this area of Tennessee, it might be above average. Its also important to add that my stomach was upset shortly after eating, it could be coincidental, just wanted to communicate this information. Wouldn't let me give less than 1 star. Lousy service. My wife and I ordered our meals, asked to substitute the rice and beans for grilled vegetables. "No problem", until the meal arrived. My wife's had the grilled vegetables. Mine didn't. Was told the cook said it didn't come with what I wanted. So, I was brought a plate with entree only. Then I was told "this isn't white pine El Toro". Guess that means I can only get what I order there. Will not be back to this one. I have never had issues at their other locations. read more
