After taking my 11 month-old daughter to gymnastics class, both of us were starving.
She is still learning to walk, so I do most of the footwork.
After debating on whether we should do sushi or sandwiches, I remembered this place from some months back.
The place looks terrible, but I had been pleasantly surprised the last time and was expecting an equally delicious outcome this time.
After taking my daughter out of her carseat and carrying her and a bunch of her stuff in my arms, I was greeted with a warm welcome.
Oh wait, no I wasn't, that was the two women who pulled up at the same time as me and walked in 15 seconds faster than me because they didn't have to unbuckle a child.
"I like your car!" the waitress said as she let them in from the cold.
The door was closed for me and no such greeting was offered; I guess she doesn't fancy Saturns.
I waited up front not too long before being seated, I was offered a high chair by a man whom I presumed was the manager.
Another girl brought the high chair and said, "She'll be right with you."
"She" didn't come for several minutes, and I noticed "She" was glancing at us, but continued checking on other people.
I wonder if "She" liked my rainboots.
I actually considered getting up and leaving, but I knew my daughter was especially hungry.
"She" finally made a brief appearance for our drink order.
By the time she returned, we had decided on the Hot Turkey Open-faced Sandwich. What really sold me on that, was the fact that it came with veggies, mashed potatoes, and your choice of fries, salad, or soup.
It says on the menu under the bold SANDWICHES:
all sandwiches are served with your choice of fries, salad, or soup.
After hearing they had minestrone soup, I was sold.
Upon completion of my order, "She" mumbled at the end, "And a soup," as she wrote and walked away.
I was glad to see she was writing everything down.
Then I thought, " 'She' better have not said 'add a soup,' it comes with my meal."
The soup came out warm, and tasted as if it were days old.
As that neared a dismal end, the sandwich arrived.
I have never been served disgust on a plate prior.
The mashed potatoes, were completely bland and the turkey was overly salty.
At least I had veggies.
The veggies HAD TO HAVE been prepared by Chef Mike a.k.a. The Microwave because some of them were warmed while others were STILL COLD!
I can't believe such an atrocious meal costs $10.95!!!
If I go to a restaurant, I expect quality food prepared THAT DAY and especially for $10.95.
I've had better meals at Denny's for a fraction of that cost.
And now for my favorite part, the check:
"She" charged me an additional $4.95 for the small cup of soup.
Are you kidding me?!?!
I even grabbed another menu and double-checked if I read correctly, which I knew I did.
I even looked to see if it was stated ANYWHERE that soup was not offered with my sandwich, no such exclusion was noted.
I waited for "She" to come back so "She" could fix the bill, but "She" didn't come.
I went to the cashier and told the girl up there I was charged incorrectly and showed her the menu.
She looked and said, "Yeah, that one doesn't come with a soup, there's an asterisk."
I looked again, "Where?" I questioned, "I don't see one anywhere and 'She' never said it was additional."
She looked and then looked confused and said, "Yeah, I'm not going to be able to take that off."
I merely said, "I'm not paying for the soup."
She took the check and walked to the back.
I thought she was going to grab "The Manager," but instead "She" found time to argue with me.
"She" started going on about how "She" asked me if I wanted to "Add-on" the soup and I said yes.
I said no such thing.
I flat out said, "I'm not paying for the soup."
"You have to, you ate it."
"I ate it because it was part of my disgusting meal, I'm not paying additional for that."
Then "She" started in with "She's" a manager and "She's" worked there for 11 years.
I had a few choice responses that I immediately thought, but held my tongue.
"She" came off as if she tried to be intimidating and even said, "Don't yell," when I clearly never yelled.
And believe me, "She" would have known I was yelling if I actually yelled.
I merely spoke very sternly again, "I'm.Not.Paying.For.The.Soup."
"She" caved and only charged me for the nastiest microwaved meal that ever existed.
I decided to pay with cash so "She" wouldn't touch my debit card.
I should have complained about the entire meal, but I was trying to be easygoing.
Don't eat disgusting food. Don't put up with horrible service. DON'T EAT HERE!!! read more
