I've been here multiple times without an appointment and at most I've had to wait about 7 minutes, which for me isn't very long. The location is convenient, there is a parking lot so you don't have to worry about meters or street parking. She only charges $8 for the eyebrow wax so if you are looking for someone new to work on your brows she's definitely worth a try. read more

Went there expecting Karen and got the worst service ever. Very rude and the prices are overpriced for what they do. I usually don't review anything however the new owner was very rude and not accommodating at all. I had to correct her tone on how she spoke to me and threatened to go to business bureau. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone especially since Karen gone. Karen was the heart of Vy and for them to not show her loyal customers love its disappointing. It's hard finding a good nail shop however I will not spend my money on people that don't know the value of customer service. I've been coming to see Karen since I was in high school and I really only trust her to make my eyebrows look the best! She has also been doing my mani and pedi's for the longest time and she's such a nice lady! Very affordable!! I left with a mani pedi wax combo eyebrows and lip paid less than 40! The workers were very friendly and welcoming. I called to see if I could do a walk-in appt and I specifically requested for Michael in particular. I was told it was his day off and it was totally fine by me that he wasn't there. the woman on the phone insisted that she'd call him to come in at 2:30 to take 2 acrylic full set appointments(which I immediately said no because it's his day off?) but she said they'll see us at 2:30. So far, I was loving this new location a lot until it was time to pay for my set. Now usually nails with designs aren't cheap, I know that. I know quality work and what it goes for. But I found it quite embarrassing and rather greedy when the workers were negotiating whether to charge me (the actual set price) $55 or (the price another woman wanted to charge because they wanted to make more) $65. Now they asked me at the beginning of my appt if I was Vietnamese which I am not, but I understand it and what they were saying. So overall, the quality of the design and shape is a 5-star. i was driving down Hesperian today towards Target and saw Vy's Nails. I did a quick search on Yelp on my BlackBerry and decided to take a chance. Since I was just across the street, I was hoping to squeeze but the lady on the phone said 45mins so I gave them my name. I ended up just walking in and asked the girl if Karen had time to do an eyebrow wax. She came back after a few minutes and told me to wait. Sweet! Karen came out and took a girl in and told me I was next. Karen came for me and she is like a girl's best friend. I barely told her what I wanted but she said she looks at your face and your eyes and perfects the brow to YOUR face. She goes right to work and is quick as hell but knows EXACTLY what she's doing. She mentioned I have a lot of little stray hair (I grew out my brows only for a few days) but she got EVERYTHING off. She does the wax first and then she tugs a bit around your eye to get the most precise shape and trims down the hair if it's too long. I don't mind the roughness, in fact, I didn't feel she was too rough on my brows. By the way, I am from South San Francisco and my boyfriend lives in Oakland. Let's just say I tipped her a couple dollars more than what they charge for eyebrow wax. And I told her even if I don't have my boyfriend on this side of the bay (knock on wood), I would still come back to her. read more

They got crazy w me cause they didn't know how to do my nail design. It wasn't even that hard. I thought someone was going to finish the design, but instead they were just going to leave me unfinished and send me on my way. She then got mad that I said something. I told her forget it and paint the entire nail black since I can't get a simple black heart. Then I reminded her that I wanted gel and I couldn't have that either. So she puts regular top coat and leaves black nail polish all over my fingers and it was all bubbled. The sad part is that I am a loyal client and they now have lost my services and all the people I bring because I liked them so much. This is my go-to place for my waxing needs! When I first moved here, I tried types of salons that I found on Yelp, and Vy's Nails is the only place I liked and I've stuck with it ever since. Not only do they get the job done, they've been so nice to me service-wise. The first time I went in, I was greeted by a woman named Karen. She took me in the back and made friendly chit-chat. She's got a lot of spunk and she definitely made me laugh a lot. She was fast, got what I wanted, and I was in and out with a blink of an eye, which is precisely what I like. When it came time to pay, I didn't have cash so I gave her my card. You have to tell them the amount you want charged because they don't have a "Add tip" line on the receipt. When I realized I couldn't tip her, she said with a wink, "No problem, next time!" I came back a month or so later and got seen again by Karen. When I tried to give extra money on top of my original tip to compensate for before, she wouldn't even let me! She told me to keep it and that it's really no problem. I realized that the ladies here are really sweet and they don't want to take advantage of you. And with their prices, it's hard to beat a sweet deal and a good wax. read more

Pedicures are good here, and yes the waxing is GOOD....but like the other comment she is kind of rough. But she does a good job. It costs $17 for the spa pedicure and i think $18 for a full set. I have had my nails done at Vy's Nails quite a few times. Sometimes good experiences and other times not so much. The only reason I returned to Vy's Nails to get my nails done was because I decided to get my nails done on a Sunday and the nail salon I wanted to go to was closed. Anyways I went in for a fill with gel polish (which I must mention they are over priced). The man that did my nails was nice but nice don't cut it! He did a rush job and the finished product was not worth the 30 dollars I paid!!!!!!!! I don't know why I did but I tipped him 10 dollars so I walked out the door paying for 40 dollars total for nails that didn't look like they were worth more than 20 if that! Two days later, yes you heard me right 2 days later my GEL polish lost its shine it's suppose to maintain until my next trip to the nail salon. The polish started cracking and on the side of one of my thumb nails the polish completely fell off leaving a very unappealing nail. So I go back in to see the same man who did my nails and showed him my nails. I didn't even need to explain because my nails were pretty self explanatory! I told him the polish must have been old because no way my nails should be looking like this after just 2 days! He tried to say I was over using my hands . I asked him if he could change the polish and he said he would have to charge me 10 dollars and I'm thinking like I just tipped you 10 dollars really? He says he can fix it with the same color polish (for free) and proceeded to run more of the same color polish over the already unappealing color that was on my nails. And instead of being remorseful for the extremely hot wax and aggressive plucking, I was told it was my skin and not their instruments. I've been trying to look for a place that does eyebrow waxing closer to home since I moved & decided to check out Vy's Nails today. I called them in the morning to set up and appointment and it was quick & easy. Once I arrived, Karen greeted me and asked me if I was the appointment for eyebrows. She took me into the room where she does waxing, which isn't fancy or anything, but it's pretty much like any Asian-owned nail salon with waxing. She knew exactly what she was doing and was quick at it. I told her that I didn't want my brows too thin because some places make my brows so thin like nothing is there, but she made it super natural by cleaning it up, and re-shaping them. For $8, this place is way better than Benefit's Brow Bar because after waxing, she plucked every single hair left that's in the way & it didn't hurt at all. Today I came in at about 5:45 , the shop was empty and I asked for a regular Mani and pedi . The two ladies who completed my service were nice , sanitary, and did a good job . As I am letting my toes dry I decide I would like to get a design 2 for 5 . I proceeded and was told by who I believe is the manager / owner that 3 small flowers on my toe would be 5 each for a total of $10 and would not like good , it would look cluttered. I have had this design before so I knew it would look good . Her tone of voice was snappy. Next As I continue to let my nails and toes dry without getting the design it is now 6:35 and the manager ask me if she can help , meaning go in purse to get my card to pay because they are about to turn the machine off . Her tone is still snappy . I ended up paying and leaving , didn't finish drying . The service itself was very good but the hospitality is not . The manger/ owner is snappy .
