Vista Nail Spa just had their grand re-opening last weekend. What better way to pamper myself the week of my birthday than a gel manicure and NEW head spa treatment popping up all over social media? Local business owner Carol is so friendly and creative. I brought in a photo of teal/sea foam green nails with silver glitter accents and she elevated the look with trendy chrome powder and wispy designs. Total mermaid vibes! She said many customers come in asking her to create any designs she wants for them and choose color(s). She also created a candy chrome look for my friend with various pinks, purple, and blue. New chrome layer is so popular nowadays. I got the full regal treatment with the new Head Spa treatment complete with shoulder & arm massage. 45 minutes of relaxing bliss while my scalp and tresses were washed and detoxified with fragrant green tea shampoo/conditioner, plus eucalyptus for a satisfyingly clean tingle. It includes a light face wash with collagen mask after. Unfortunately, I was allergic to the collagen (very sensitive skin), but Carol removed it right away and made sure to give my face an additional gentle wash to get rid of the mask residue. The shoulder and arm massage was very relaxing and I could feel myself unwind with just a few thoughts wandering in my mind here and there. My hair was blow dried with a Dyson Airwrap Styler to finish the treatment as I sipped on some soothing peach flavored Phuc Long tea. Make an appointment today for the spa treatment of your choice. I got the Poly Gel Manicure and brought a picture in for inspiration. The manicure turned out really well with a lot of bright summer colors! These nails are probably my favorite design that I've ever had. I believe the owner Vista (the guy) was the one who did my nails. He was very nice and very precise in the way he did my nails. I've been going here sometimes for years, especially during spring/summer. It's not the best place or the best vibe but they usually do a pretty good job, and it's close to my home. I called this morning and scheduled an appointment for a pedicure for 5 pm. I was on time, they were running late which was no big deal at first. Finally after about 15-20 minutes they brought me to a chair and ran the water for a foot soak, but then left me there to just keep soaking, no one came to do my feet. A woman walked in and they took her immediately, and started on both her feet and hands with two different nail techs while my feet were still just sitting in water getting pruney. I had been trying to be patient and understanding that sometimes schedules get messed up, but that was my limit. I took my feed out of the water and plopped them on the plastic edge and then the woman I had requested do my pedi, who was doing the pedi of the woman who had just come in, told the woman who was starting to do the nails of that woman to do me first. Ridiculous. I shouldn't have to slap my wet feet down on the basin to be helped after they start helping someone else (again, with TWO people) and just left me sitting there indefinitely getting pruney feet and being ignored. Maybe that woman is a regular and she was obviously having multiple services done, which is more money for them, but it was disrespectful and unprofessional. I won't be back. read more

I've been going to vista nails for years because I like when carol does my nails but it's gotten to the point where she is very money hungry , the products are very watered down. There's probably one person in there that does feet good and on top of that there's no pricing board inside of the shop ,so she really could charge what she wants and you have to pay it . Also I feel like she charges her yt clients less and the blks more and it could be the exact same service just regular paint, but we got two different prices. I'm so disappointed because I've spent a lot of money with her and never complaint even when I know I was getting overcharged . I made an appointment for a foot spa treatment with pedicure. The pedicurist stopped my treatment after a 20 minute basic pedicure. When I asked about the rest of my appointment, the pedicurist and manager started to yell at each other about the mistake. During the pedicure, she stabbed me with an instrument and I bled. She serviced two of us at one time and shared the instruments. Many years ago I frequented this spa and caught athletes foot. Perhaps I didn't get it there, but it was suspicious. That same month, three of our neighbors developed foot staph infections and it was traced to this foot spa. For this reason I stayed away for years. In honor of my birthday, I decided to start treating myself to regularly scheduled pedicures. Since it was many years since I had been to Vista, I was sure it was going to offer a better experience today. Boy am I disappointed! read more

I came here while my dog was getting groomed nearby - which was convenient. I got what I would consider a down and dirty gel manicure. Cuticle clean up was ok, some polish was left on skin, hand massage was minimal. Very little lotion was applied so I left with super dry hands. But the polish has lasted over two weeks, and would have lasted at least three if I didn't have it changed out. I usually go to this other place in Oakland for the last 15 years, because they are so consistently good. However this time, there was so much traffic I decided to stop in San Leandro, and trusted this 4 1/2 star review. (I came here for a regular mani pedi) I am so sorry I did, it was the worst mani pedi I've had in years. The polish job was terrible...she even left a couple spots of polish on my skin. The massage -- non existent, it was literally maybe one minute max for each limb. And almost zero work on the the bottom of my feet...I even asked her (twice!) to work on the side big toe calluses that I get every time, she gave it a few swipes and that was it...I had to file them even more after she was done...they offered a special "additional treatment" to get them next time...The other place I go to gets them all just fine with a regular pedi. I won't be going here again...it seems like people like this place for acrylics but I wouldn't recommend it for regular mani pedi. I was so impressed with the new updates Carol has made to the shop! Each pedicure chair and nail table has a plexiglass stand (kinda like how you see at the grocery stores) to prevent the spread of germs. If you ever struggle going to a nail salon where communication is an issue than look no further! Julie is your girl! She is awesome! So creative and meticulous with her work! I got a pink and white overlay and she kept my natural nail! No fake tips for me! The salon is relatively small so I think an appointment would be crucial. I'm very pleased with finding Vista Salon, and Carol. When I first went I felt very welcome(still do), it was very clean, didn't smell like strong chemicals. She only takes appointments, so quiet & relaxing. Also, Carol has a great sense of humor She is very open to ideas I show her, and many times adds a little something fun. My fills last a few weeks. Now that we're in quarantine, I appreciate her even more. I've had nails for so many, many years, she also gave me a wonderful pedicure. I have ingrown, and they felt so much better. Eyelashes by Carol: 2 days before I left for a vacation to Mexico, I had Carol put on lashes. (She called them 'individual' but In fact, they were "clump" lashes). She was in a hurry and did them quickly. On one eyelid, they were higher than the other, and she even did a double row in one area. When I left, my eyes were still burning from the glue. The burning got worse by the day - my eyelids were red, swollen, itchy and tender - had to ice them frequently. By the 3rd day, eyes were not only swollen but black and blue. It was humiliating. On day 4, I spent an evening in my hotel room gently rubbing vaseline on the upper lash lines into the big clumps of glue to soften and remove the lashes - that did little good. (Eye makeup remover made them burn worse). I finally had to violently yank them off (removing my own lashes too) one clump at a time which was even more painful. I spent several more days with eyelids that were swollen, cracked, scaly and itchy and bruised. It ruined my entire vacation. I am convinced that she uses low-quality, cheap glue and is poorly skilled in "technique." I considered legal action for damages. Never again. read more
