From…read morebeginning to end, our points of contact, Avi & Joseph have gone above and beyond for our project, walking us through the planning phases, permitting, design, construction and finishing work of the renovation. They were able to make a normally very stressful process almost stress-free, so much so that all I had to do was say "yes or no" when it came to key decisions. The Construction & More team took lead in the painful parts of dealing with permitting, PG&E, and subcontractors. They also got us in contact with their preferred vendors to help us with discounts on appliances, finishes and other materials we needed to purchase out of pocket. Overall, I found the Construction & More team extremely professional, transparent, organized, communicative and punctual when it came to the end-to-end process. They truly helped guide us through the process so we didn't have any surprises and helped us navigate any hiccups that came up. Normally, construction companies get a bad rap of being dishonest and trying to add in hidden fees and such, but Construction & More is a truly forthcoming and hardworking group of contractors who have your best interest at heart when it comes to your project no matter how big or small. For the process itself, we began with a consultation at our home to walk through the work we wanted the Construction & More team to do. For us, it was a full renovation which included removing a kitchen wall to create an open concept kitchen & living room, adding a mud room, expanding the master bedroom, moving the front and garage doors, as well as moving the ceilings to create a more open space. After the consultation was completed, we met with Avi & Joseph at their office to discuss an estimate and timeline for the work we needed done about (6-months time, pending no delays). Avi & Joseph respected our budget and were upfront and honest of how to stay within the budget and what were non-negotiables that we needed to get done. They really helped us understand what work was critical and what were nice to have to make our living space better. Once we agreed on the work, they promptly sent over a contract for signature, created a whatsapp group for real time communication, and next steps. Overall this initial process took about a week after negotiations and contract reviews. Once construction began, the team coordinated all the work. They made sure that all moving parts were well executed while setting a realistic timeline for the work to be done. All the subcontractors and tradesmen were effectively scheduled, where there wasn't a single day where there was no work being done. I felt that the team ensured that the construction was moving swiftly and the crew was respectful of our space. The crew made sure that our home was properly locked up and cleaned up after each day's work. Additionally, all the detailed finishing work was measured and completed with precision, where all the tiles placed were measured with a laser. As a bonus, the crew was also super respectful to our neighbors which is an extra plus! If you're considering a renovation of any size, but especially a full home renovation, I could not rave more about Construction & More. I have heard horror stories about the construction process, surprises that pop up in an old house (our house was built in the late 50's), and the REAL cost of the project. After meeting with four different contractors we decided on Cal Bay. Carlos came across as the most genuine and motivated to do good work. He also quoted us what I thought was a fair price. I can't say enough about Carlos and his crew. They were all very courteous and hard working. The project came out as we had hoped it would, probably even better. We did uncover some unforeseen items along the way that were additional charges, but Carlos was more than fair in his pricing. Also along the way, we added the dining room and all the doors in the house. Carlos was not annoyed with our adds and he did them at reasonable prices. With the little adds (additional outlets, ceiling fan install) I requested he never even added them to the price. Not every contractor would do that. What most people reading this want to know is, DOES CAL BAY DO GOOD WORK? WAS THE PROJECT ON TIME? WAS THE TOTAL COST REASONABLE? I have attached photos, so you can see the final product. My wife and are are very happy with the work and the Cal Bay crew's attention to our vision. The entire project took a little longer than we thought it would, but we did add quite a bit of work and with the unforeseen items, that were not small, it was pretty close to what should be expected. In fact, my wife said she really didn't feel it was as painfully long as some people had told us. Finally, the total cost was within our budget and what we expected to pay. To compare, I met with three other contractors and the final price for my whole project (Unforeseen changes and our add-ons included) was the same price I received from the highest quote for just the bathrooms and kitchen. My wife and I are really happy we chose Cal Bay and I plan on calling the crew back for our next project.

Well, I learned fast that with the bay area prices, regardless of how much we pay for our home, we were going to do some upgrades and boy was it overwhelming just to start looking for the right contractor. That is when we came across CalBay Remodeling. After a long search and being high ball on prices by other contractors, Carlos (Owner) came and gave me an estimate that I felt was the most fair that I have gotten until that point. We knew that based on the inspection report, our bathroom needed to be gutted down and be reinforce with new wood beam as there was major water damage. Based on the quote, he also gave us a time period and gave us a great list of retailers and products that will make my wife's and I bathroom vision come to life. Now, in no shape or form are my wife and I designers, but we had a vision and we feel that Carlos and his team exceeded our expectation by far. I might even do a small part time side job as a designer...LOL..(No, I'm not). I haven't even started to rave about Carlos and his crew. What else is there to say except that they are exceptional and very professional, not to mention masters in their craft. They were always very punctual, and I felt that they took care of my home as if it was theirs. They went above and beyond to protect my newly refinished hardwood floor ( my mistake for doing that job first before the bathroom). All of their staff was friendly and very respectful to my family and I. Even though there was some major demo that got done, every time I came home, they did an amazing job maintaining my house and their work area spotless until they came back the next day. Carlos and his team will always consult with me if anything unexpected happened and will never do anything without my approval. To me, the big thing that really made me appreciate them the most is when my 50 year plumbing got backed up, and instead of them suggesting calling for a plumber who could have easily charged me 500$ plus, Carlos and his crew managed to help me and made sure they stayed until the issue was resolved. Water from my back unit started to flow to the other bathroom and Carlos was able to delegate each worker a job and I had people cleaning water on my other bathroom, another crew member going down the crawl space to see the pipes and take live video and Carlos and other members making sure our newly remodeled bathroom did not get wet. It was really an amazing sight to see as in that moment I knew that he really does this job because he cares about his work and puts his customer first. Towards the end of the bathroom job, I started to paint the inside of my house and without any hesitation, Carlos and his crew offered to help prime, retouch and brought out their paint guns and rollers and went above and beyond and gave me a professional painting job that I was not expecting. My family and I could not be happier with CalBay Remodeling and I will definitely be in touch with them on my next home project as I feel that we found the right team to take care of our home needs.

Really pleased with how everything turned out! From the start, Zion's quote was more detailed than other contractors we talked to, which gave us a lot of confidence that they truly understood the work involved. The team also worked really well alongside our other third-party contractors and designer, making the whole process feel coordinated and smooth. One thing we really appreciated was how they handled changes along the way. When our requirements shifted, they adapted easily and offered great feedback on ways to simplify our design to save time and money. The team showed up on time each morning, cleaned up before leaving every day, and were always respectful and courteous. They made a point to ask questions and check in to make sure everything was being done to our satisfaction. Their attention to detail showed in the finishing touches, and whenever something wasn't quite right, they were more than willing to fix it. The project finished on schedule and mostly on budget. Overall the experience was very good; Elijah and Bryan were super friendly and responsive. Eli was very patient and accommodating as we discussed several different potential change orders, from new windows to painting, to other misc. things that popped up. Bryan Luna was especially a pleasure to work with. His attention to detail and proactivity to solve any little thing I mentioned was definitely the highlight of working with Prime. Their contracted electrician, Hector, was great as well. I also think they did a great job building out a cabinet to fit our freezer next to the matching fridge. Their master carpenter managed to salvage our existing wood to make it match perfectly. Definitely better than what I'd expect from even a carpentry specialty contractor. I will mention that it wasn't without some snags. Prime deals in volume so they're very busy. I think because I had delays in sourcing a freezer I ended up not getting a dedicated project manager for some time. We had timeline issues made worse with holidays. This caused cascading delays which inevitably pushed back my move in date a few weeks. When I finally did get a new project manager, they ghosted me (later on I found out they had a family emergency). Eli had to step in again to help. Another thing is that their pricing is quite opaque. The estimate will break down prices by milestones, but they repeated told me that it's not a valuation of the milestone itself. This made it nigh impossible to understand if I wanted to contract out specific pieces of the project (e.g. flooring). Design was OK. I felt that the designer was very busy. Sometimes very responsive (5min replies), sometimes not responsive at all (no reply). I wish I had a better, more thorough back-and-forth session about the intricacies of the design. But we made do. Ultimately, the designer made a render and helped point us to some vendors, but from there we had to make our own selection alone (cabinets, handles, pendant lights, faucets, etc.). I did appreciate her presence when we picked out countertops, though. All in all, I think this was a 4.5 star job, but I'm rounding to 5 because of Eli and Bryan :)

We hired Prime Design for a home remodel project, but unfortunately the experience has been very…read moredisappointing. There have been multiple unresolved issues with the quality of work and follow-through. One example is an LED light that continues to flicker. It has been more than six months, with many calls and text messages, but the issue still has not been fixed. Another example is damage to our garage cabinet, where a hole was created during the work. We are still waiting for this to be repaired as well. Overall, the lack of timely resolution and poor communication after the project has been extremely frustrating.

As busy professionals with young children, we are extremely pleased we chose Elya as the project manager. Their exceptional management ensured everything was well-planned, organized, and communicated regularly. The pace of the actual construction was notably faster than we had estimated. We were initially expecting the project to take around six months, but it was completed in just four months--a remarkable achievement in timeline management. This was very critical factor for us right from the begining. The quality of the work and the process itself were both excellent. We continued to live in the house during the renovation, and Elya's team maintained continuous checkpoints at various stages, meaning there were absolutely no major surprises. Any minor issues that arose were addressed immediately. Furthermore, the work site was consistently kept safe and isolated, which was a primary concern for us having two younger children. Many of the contractors we met with did great work, are knowledgeable, but we selected Golden View because we felt Hugo and his team were the best fit for us. They matched us with the same excitement for the potential of modernizing our kitchen to our needs and we felt they paid the most attention to genuinely honor our wish to increase storage in the kitchen and make it efficient for entertaining. We stressed that the kitchen had to be functional more than beautiful, and they managed to provide us both. Their designer worked so hard to provide us with functional and beautiful designs. We were overwhelmed by the many directions the kitchen design could go and Assel, their designer, presented us detailed options to go through. Their team was also so neat and clean as they worked on the renovation. They kept areas taped up to keep debris from getting into the rest of the house since we were still living in the house while they remodeled the kitchen. We also appreciated the ease of communicating with them at any time. Hugo and his assistant Andrew, both would respond to us. Andrew came out to really take great notes and videos about anything we noticed for touch ups, and it was really well outlined with punchlists to clear the final touch ups. This was a good experience as we heard many of our friends complain about their contractors being hard to find when it came to the final touch up work at the end of a big renovation. This was our first experience remodeling our condo. Our project manager was Nir. I am pleased with the materials used. They are pretty and luxurious! The bathrooms feel so fresh and modern. I get many compliments from friends and neighbors. I love the style. I think the remodel will add value to this home when we decide to sell it. I appreciated Nir's flexible schedule, his capacity to problem-solve and his rolodex for suppliers. The contracted workers and team members were also friendly and conveniently met me physically wherever I wanted for shopping, payments or meetings. We are still trying to resolve a dispute with the HOA and FVR is still by my side helping me.
