Sunny Design and construction did a fantastic job on our kitchen and living room remodel. From start to finish, the communication with owner Jose was excellent, the quality of all the workers, including subcontractors, was high, and everything was done on time. All workers were very polite and respectful, which we really appreciated since we were living in the house during construction. The process started with the bid, which was done quickly and clearly. Of the four bids we received, Sunny was competitive with others. However, we liked the professionalism and approachability of Jose right off the bat. Through the design process , we were updated regularly on options, and never felt pressured to select specific products. The suppliers recommended were excellent. Demo and construction was quick and very tidy. We lived in our house during construction, and both Sunny and their subcontractors made sure to keep things clean around their work areas. All workers and subs were always on time and showed up when they said they would. There were never long periods where no work was being done, as is often the experience with other contractors. Small things would come up during construction, and questions were asked, but they were transparent about options on how to deal with them, and we quickly moved through them. Often the construction team would be waiting on us to make decisions, instead of the typical reverse! They were again very prompt and communicative with construction. The quality of work was great too, as we would often look at the work during the process. Our kitchen and dining room are beautiful and we are thankful the process was so smooth with Jose and his team at Sunny! read more

I had an interior home renovation project and i got referred by my designer Shweta Chhajed to Jose and his team. Jose was very communicative in showing and explaining his current and completed projects. We(designer and me ) visited multiple projects Jose and team had done. My impression of the work turned out to be good, i was also taking estimates from others . Jose seemed to be on the higher side of my expectation but his time lines were good around 6 weeks to complete. The project needed to move 2 walls then full kitchen demo and rebuilding all of the kitchen with re-done electrical, cabinet install with counter top, plumbing, 2 rooms needed closet expansion , fire place removal in living room , re-flooring the whole home including stairs, re-painting the whole home . Jose had many people working on almost a daily basis and the skill these guys poses for the job is very good. However i would say these guys can get very good results working with a designer who has more idea of the final outlook, their work without the designer can seem not very detailed oriented. I would highly recommend them to work more with designers to make their work shine . Learning from a designer and listening to them can take them way ahead, taking feedback from a designer and re-doing things can seem a lot but it would take them to be great professionals brining out their best work. Some of the materials the designer and me and ordered ahead of time , like the kitchen cabinets , the flooring. During renovations we had to move out to an air bnb and got stuck in moving when last minute the mover bailed out, Jose and team saved the day and i am really thankful for the quick help. In the whole renovation there was a lot of back and forth which is typical of projects but i would say Jose was clear in defining the scope of, efforts and almost everything was in writing. The part i was not very happy about is higher change order costs than i expected, we went some back and forth on those things. This led to overall cost bump for me which seemed higher than expected costs for me. Time and execution wise there was a minor hiccup for about 5 days in total but apart from that these guys worked on time. There were some material delays which i am not counting at all on the delayed timeline the project got completed (8-9 weeks). Jose and team still have some electrical work to be done but it's more pending on my carpenter to complete it, then the electrical work for LED's can be completed, Jose is very understanding of this current limitation and will schedule the electrician to work after a month or so on this. Overall i would say these guys have very good skills, clear communication, take very good care and permissions when kids and family is around, they are accommodating . I would recommend them to add more flexibility and learn from a designer to make their work stand out and shine. read more

Sunny Construction, led by Jose Medina, delivered a professional and reliable experience from start to finish. Their crew stayed on schedule and maintained clear communication, which made the process easy to trust as a homeowner. The quality of their work stood out across multiple projects, including interior painting, window and sliding door replacement, and the addition of recessed LED lighting. They take pride in what they do and stand behind their work, offering follow-up support when needed, which we really appreciated. Overall, we were very happy with the results. The only issue we encountered was with the initial interior painting quote--we had assumed baseboards were included, but that required a separate estimate. However, they worked with us and offered a very fair price to make this change. Thank you! read more

Absolutely Outstanding Experience! We hired Sunny Design to renovate a property that needed a complete overhaul -- and when I say complete, I mean taking the house down to the studs. From the very beginning, Jose was communicative, professional, and transparent throughout the entire 3-month process. He and his team handled everything with precision -- framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, flooring, and all the finishing touches. Every step was done in a timely and organized manner. The end result? A home that looked brand new -- modern, clean, and move-in ready. We were absolutely blown away by the transformation. Thanks to the quality of the work and the attention to detail, we were able to sell the house in just 24 hours after listing. Jose truly exceeded our expectations, and I wouldn't hesitate to work with him again. If you're looking for someone reliable, talented, and easy to communicate with, Jose is your guy! read more

These guys are the best. As a realtor, I need someone who I can trust to work quickly and professionally; and to deliver quality work. Jose and team rise to the occasion every time. We hired Sunny Design & Construction to renovate two of our bathrooms and we're incredibly happy with the results. Jose and his team did an amazing job on all aspects of the renovation, with the tiling, flooring, plumbing, electrical, paint, and glasswork all done to perfection. The team was a pleasure to work with, considerate of our time and schedule, with an amazing attention to detail. Jose checks in often with updates and is easy to get in touch with. The team as a whole is on top of issues as they arise and they worked with us to find the best solutions to fulfill our vision; throughout the renovation process, I never felt any pressure or stress when hiccups arose. The team was also great at giving advice on parts of the renovation that I was out of my depth on, walking me through different possibilities to see what I liked the most. For instance, the arch over the bathtub was something that I really wanted to include, but I had no idea how the curved trim would work. Jose's team was able to figure that out and acquire the materials to execute that vision. Overall, the renovation process was easy thanks to Jose's team and the end result was even more impressive than I envisioned. read more

Our experience with Jose and his team at Sunny Design & Construction has been amazing. Always communicative and eager to please, Jose made sure all our needs and wants were taken care of. With all the work involved in planning, budgeting, and designing our new home, I don't think we could've pulled off the remodel without Jose's help. He took care of everything you could expect from a GC; scheduling, gathering estimates, payments, recalls, and quality control with prompt communication every step of the way. If you are looking to do a remodel but starting feels daunting, I highly recommend contacting Sunny Design & Construction for an estimate. Jose and his entire team were a pleasure to work with during our recent project of remodeling two bathrooms in our home at the same time. We've completed many remodels over the years and can't say enough about his professionalism, and the personal attention he and his crew gave to us and our project while they worked on numerous other jobs during the same period. I am happy to recommend Sunny Design and Construction. Jose is a reliable point person. I always knew who was coming and when. If I had questions or needed suggestions, he listened patiently and replied promptly. Every member of his team was skilled, courteous, and helpful. The quotes were accurate, and I only paid more when I added to the scope of the job. The cabinets I ordered were backordered, so the new completion date drifted toward Thanksgiving. Jose made sure my house was ready for the holiday. We have another construction project coming up, and we will definitely be using Sunny Design and Construction. read more

Jose is awesome to work with - a thoughtful, flexible, and just all around easy-to-work with genuine person. Out of eight contractors I interviewed, he was - by far - the most thorough with his initial cost estimate. Some people will give you an estimate that looks detailed but is largely just a copy-paste generic breakdown of what general tasks usually consist of. Jose will get really specific to your home. He can do that because he puts in the work necessary to survey the existing construction and ask questions and follow-up questions - something surprisingly few contractors will do. You may not appreciate his thoroughness until you have experienced other projects where "surprises" that shouldn't have been surprises come along. It matters. Please - if you are in the market, do yourself a big favor and make sure to talk with him. read more

Local Realtor & repeat client here. Been working with Jose for a few years now. He is my go-to & first choice contractor for nearly everything, big or small! I've used Sunny Design Construction for several projects & even had them take care of a few family members. Let me just say... I've seen lots of mediocre, rushed, & lazy work out there. I am very picky with quality & can honorably say Sunny Design Construction exceeds expectations every single job. The entire team is super friendly & respectful. From carefully covering floors to prevent scratches or stains to sweeping up all their construction debris, they thoughtfully leave everything the way they found it. Additionally, Jose pays very close attention to detail & thinks of/notices things I would've never personally thought of. He is not pushy with his services or pricing & always makes sure the client is comfortable. If you're having trouble choosing a contractor, look no further! Sunny Design Construction is truly your one-stop shop & a crew you can trust. read more

Jose Medina with Sunny Design and Construction went above and beyond our expectations. We had an urgent request for a 1 day job and reached out to several contractors but he was the only one that responded quickly. Words can't describe what a wonderful experience my fiancé and I had dealing with Jose and his crew. We called Jose on a Saturday and explained to him we needed a bathroom remodeled fairly quickly. He came out a few days later and provided an estimate which covered everything from electrical to the plumbing. Once we approved the estimate his crew came and started the process. All of his sub contractors are fantastic and were very careful not to damage any of the walls in the house during the demo process. There were a few setbacks which had nothing to do with Sunny Design but Jose kept on top of everything with that. We also had Sunny Design paint the entire interior of our home as well. It's hard to find a good trustworthy contractor these days and we are glad we found Jose. They did a fantastic job with that as well. I will post photos of their work as soon as the retrofit window is installed. read more

10 out of 10, would absolutely recommend working with Jose. He was professional, accurate in his estimates, accountable to his work, and above all, easy to get along with. He was very transparent, thorough, and communicative every step of the way. Our remodel included several jobs that called for a wide variety of skills. We were delighted with the work Jose's team did and got to know many of the specialists he works with personally - just like him, all were incredible. Everyone hesitates or gets a little nervous working with a general contractor. You hear the nightmare stories or end up with subpar work.
