Their response was at least honest; "Unfortunately, due to the clientele in Romford it is difficult for us to maintain a consistently high quality" - and I believe them. The Vue in Romford is decent as Multiplexes go; but the problem comes when you find lots of kids who'd rather text each other across the room and make random turrets type noises than watch a movie. We used to avoid this by going to screenings at 11pm. But we found that although the kids were gone, their mess wasn't. I complained a much of times and to be fair to them, I got a few free tickets-- but it got to the point where I'd rather pay to go somewhere else and not have to sit on someones unwanted popcorn. Cinematically; the films are presented well; good sound and good size screens; but often you'll find coke splashed on screens or my biggest problem; holes in the screen (meaning shiny bright sparkling areas). A cinema that tries to be good but doesn't quite pull it off. Go elsewhere.

The lobby looks nice, but is always pretty busy during the evenings so I suggest getting there early. As Paul mentioned there is a lack of food, but to be honest there aren't many cinemas that do a huge range. As this is near a shopping complex there are a few places you can go to eat. I am a huge popcorn fan, and Vue does do tasty popcorn. The screens are good and the seats are comfortable, this Vue is great to watch any film =)

It is worth the extra cost.

I am only giving this 4 Stars as I think that there always seem to not be enough staff serving the customers and the queues always seem long unless you have pre-booked online and you can retrieve your tickets from a terminal on the wall with your credit card.

Even though it's next to a leisure/sports centre it's not very well served by public transport (there's only 1 bus) so unless you drive it's difficult to just pop by after work, but they do have plenty of parking space if you do drive. It's a big enough multiplex from the odeon chain so you get a good selection of 2D & 3D movies. As with most other cinemas... avoid the snack/sweets/popcorn.

My only real trouble with the actual staff is how they seem to let kids of any age slip into films of any certificate. Normally if you go see an '18' you know you're going to be safe from the annoying children who should be doing their homework. But not at Bexleyheath; they seem to have no restrictions, age-wise. If this is your only choice, then why not, seeing a film is better than seeing nothing. But if you have any other choices I would suggest you explore those first. A cinema with potential that unfortunately doesn't pull through.

The entry was reasonable for London at around £5.75 (before 4pm) and the auditoriums are large with great screens and sound. It is important to me that the popcorn, nachos and hot dogs are good quality. Showcase didn't let me down and the food was good. With small inner city cinemas popping up everywhere around London, it is great that large atmospheric theatres like Showcase in Newham are still going strong.
