The seats were soaked in God-knows…read morewhat, the screens were covered in mess, there was popcorn everywhere, the projector was projecting wrong, there were balloons randomly in the theatre blocking the top corner of the screen. Their response was at least honest; "Unfortunately, due to the clientele in Romford it is difficult for us to maintain a consistently high quality" - and I believe them. The Vue in Romford is decent as Multiplexes go; but the problem comes when you find lots of kids who'd rather text each other across the room and make random turrets type noises than watch a movie. We used to avoid this by going to screenings at 11pm. But we found that although the kids were gone, their mess wasn't. I complained a much of times and to be fair to them, I got a few free tickets-- but it got to the point where I'd rather pay to go somewhere else and not have to sit on someones unwanted popcorn. Cinematically; the films are presented well; good sound and good size screens; but often you'll find coke splashed on screens or my biggest problem; holes in the screen (meaning shiny bright sparkling areas). A cinema that tries to be good but doesn't quite pull it off. Go elsewhere.

In the main lobby, you have a Ben & Jerry's stand from where you can get some yummy ice cream, next to the stand they have a selection of pick and mix. The lobby looks nice, but is always pretty busy during the evenings so I suggest getting there early. As Paul mentioned there is a lack of food, but to be honest there aren't many cinemas that do a huge range. As this is near a shopping complex there are a few places you can go to eat. I am a huge popcorn fan, and Vue does do tasty popcorn. The screens are good and the seats are comfortable, this Vue is great to watch any film =)

I really like Showcase cinema in Newham. When I was a student at UEL I would pop over after class…read moreand watch a movie. The entry was reasonable for London at around £5.75 (before 4pm) and the auditoriums are large with great screens and sound. It is important to me that the popcorn, nachos and hot dogs are good quality. Showcase didn't let me down and the food was good. With small inner city cinemas popping up everywhere around London, it is great that large atmospheric theatres like Showcase in Newham are still going strong.

Good collection of shows, decent seats, good sound system, clean environment. But when we talk about perks such as food, it receives a thumbs down. As reviewed before by other yelpers, food really doesnt look appealing. If you dont look forward for food while watching a movie, just go ahead, you wont be disappointed.

I mean, I kind of want some place that was built in 1920s and still has popcorn stains from war-time. But it's a bit unfair of me to judge every modern cinema based on that. Take for example, the Cineworld in Ilford. Each room is clean, the screens are clear and the prints tend to be very good. It's a good, solid cinema experience.. so why should I be negative?. This particular Cineworld is probably the best cinema to go to if you're Asian or interested in Bollywood movies; as they often have more films from the East than Hollywood. In fact; the place is really buzzing when a new Bollywood film is released; they bring out the whole community!. If you're more interested in British and American films like myself; then chances are you're only really going to get to see the biggest blockbuster releases; i.e. a new Johnny Depp film or Pirates Of The Carribean 9. But I'm not complaining - it serves its purpose, and is a fine if slightly soulless place to catch a movie. Kudos to Cineworld as a company though; for their Cineworld Unlimited passes; where you pay £11-16 a month for unlimited movies. A great deal.

After barking tickets at my partner he handed them to her. The assistant checked them and barked again "family". She then handed the tickets back to him and turned and walked away. The attitude of this member of staff has made an impact on my willingness to return again

Purely as a cinema this isn't bad at all. It's not usually busy and I've never had to queue for…read morelong. It's a very pleasant cinema to go to - modern and comfortable and I've never had any problems with the quality of the screenings or the other customers who have been there. It's a big, friendly, well decorated cinema with plenty of screens and plenty of choice. It may seem harsh to judge a cinema on it's location, but this would get a much higher rating if it wasn't in Dagenham. Let me start by saying if you want to go to this cinema you should go by car. It's very accessible and has a very big car park. I, unfortunately, made the mistake of going by tube, and when me and my friend got back to the station we encountered a group of guys who were extremely drunk and has obviously been fighting. One was covered in blood and one of the others had a broken bottle in his hand. We tried to turn away but before could we were mugged as one of the group held a broken bottle to our heads. Now again, it may seem harsh to judge the cinema based on an unfortunate incident unconnected with the cinema in any way. As I said the actual cinema itself is excellent. But I have to judge this on the whole experience - if travelling by tube I'd would never go here again and I certainly wouldn't take children. By car however, well worth a visit.
