My experience at this nail shop has consistently been disappointing. From the moment I walked in, I was not greeted, which made the atmosphere feel unwelcoming. I have visited this shop multiple times, and each visit seems to come with new problems--from long wait times (despite having an appointment) inconsistent quality of work, to nail designs not being done as requested. Despite my attempts to continue visiting because the shop is close to campus and convenient, I have often left unsatisfied and frustrated. The staff's attention to detail and customer service seem inconsistent, and I sometimes feel like customers are treated differently depending on the person. Today, an older man painted my toes today. I understand that there is a language barrier but his overall body language long with his colleges were not welcoming at all. Let me tell yall something about this place. Its located on campus, I've been going there for years, I don't get my nails done often but when I do I go there because they have some very talented individuals. Emphasis on some. They have a really big staff to accommodate for the high density of traffic that comes. But God forbid you get someone who isn't as skilled as the others. Forget about making an appointment. I'm convinced that appointments are really just for them to see how many people are coming. This does not guarantee you get served at the appointment time you made. I've made an appointment and still had to wait for an hour. Why? Because they are popular, but they take everyone who walks in, and doesn't inform them of a wait. Someone who just walked in could get serviced before you, with your appointment time. It's because they are disorganized. Theres one guy there who looks like he's in charge of "scheduling" and answering the phones, AND doing nails. He's gotten up around 6 times before while doing my nails to help someone else. All of that multitasking ruined the experience for me who was constantly waiting around. If you get one of the talented individuals, you'll be fine. But if you don't, expect poor quality work. I'm talking acrylic nails falling off within the first week, and uncured gel polish. They rush because they want all the clients for the day, and their money. Good luck looking for their pricing list and so called policies. They don't even tell you how much your service will be until your checking out, and you see upcharges for pretty much everything, some incorrect. Even the most basic , short and simple full set will upcharge you an extra $10 for "shape" and "length"... Why is this not included in the full set charge of $50? Then an extra $25 for gel, and don't even think about chrome. That little powder will cost you an extra $25. You get there and end up leaving paying close to $100 on just your nails. I got up charged $5 for straight square length when its supposed to just be for coffin, almond, and stiletto. I recently went there to get a full set with design, and a pedicure with gel polish. My nails looked great (done by one of the talented individuals). My toes on the other hand... I got home and saw my gel polish had been ruined. Ladies if you know what gel is, you know that once that gel is cured, it's not moving. Meaning he didn't fully cure my toes. I had to get my friend to redo my toes in the middle of the night. Why? Because I scheduled this appointment according to my work schedule and when I needed to leave for vacation. There was no time to come back and redo the service I paid a total of $140 plus tip. I reached out to them on Instagram requesting that I be refunded for the gel services. They said per their policy (where even is that?) they don't do refunds. Then they said they could give me 15% off my next service or a $15 credit... next service? Credit? I'm not coming back... I'm done going over there waiting hours, and getting hit or miss nails. Also come back? I got these done to go out of the country, I don't have time to come back. They refused to give me money back, my only option is to be serviced by them again. They're not touching my nails again. I literally don't plan on returning because this the last straw for me. Nails these days are too expensive to be messing up, and interfering with people's time. read more

I was hesitant trying out a new nail salon when I came down to Baton Rouge from New Jersey. Once my dad mentioned my nails looked ratchet, I knew I needed to get a fill. I asked my sorority sisters for recommendations and the overwhelming majority said V's. I had trouble making an appointment so I swung by the salon. The waiting area was filled and part of me didn't want to spend my afternoon waiting, but I am glad I did. The staff managed to only have me waiting for around 20 minutes before I was taken back. I'm very pleased with this visit! I went with a friend and we were seated immediately as we scheduled an appointment for right when it opened. I got a pedicure with gel nails and it felt amazing. He made sure to get all of the dead skin off the bottom of my feet and massaged my legs so well! Now, I went in there with low expectations when it came to my dip nails. I wanted a watermelon design for the summer, but I knew it would've been hard. The nail tech was so patient and did phenomenally. My nails look great and almost exactly like the picture I showed her. The only negative thing I would say about my visit was how expensive my dip nails were. I know it was a design so I was expecting more than normal, but $90? I never write bad reviews unless they're necessary. This is necessary. I took my boyfriends sister to get our nails done together, and noticed her nail tech(Matthew) making conversation, carefully e-filing around her cuticles after applying dip, bare minimum things you would expect for a $50 service with no cuticle care or prep. Her nails look great, and he was very thorough and sweet. Me, not so much. I showed an image of the shape and length I needed, stressing that i work in dentistry and do not want my nails to poke through gloves or risk being unsanitary. I attached the photo vs what I got. I was cut with the e-file, as well as burned while 'HA' (per my receipt,) was blending my nail tips to my natural nails. I've nannied for a Daily Mail's Best winner who owns a nail salon for 8 years, I've picked up on what's normal as well as some of their language. I was burned and cut because the drill RPM was too high, creating too much friction/heat. He also complained in a language I happen to know about having to sit for so long to do my nails and attend to the simple requests I made (trimming down the tips.) when my appointment took just shy of an hour. My nails aren't the shape or length I needed and vary from round to pointed, and some vary in length. My nail tips were fitted too small, showing some of my real nail and feeling tight to the point of needing to soak them off. The surface is completely flat, meaning there's no apex (structure) and are more prone to breaking. Lastly, roaches were crawling on the wall and polish bottles. The drill bit with hot pink dip residue from my nails wasn't cleaned before being placed in it's storing container so I doubt that polish bottles-which roaches have crawled over-weren't cleaned either. This is a health risk and a poorly done service, especially for the price point. I paid because someone spent an hour at their job providing a service, but now I'm $50 poorer and had to soak off the nails I just paid for. I really wanted to enjoy it here, I've heard nothing but great things. read more

I have been going to this salon for five years and was very happy with their work until today. The owner was not present, and whoever was running the shop was not paying attention. When I checked in, the manager told me to go sit wherever in the pedicure station and someone would be with me. Thirty minutes later, no one has come to greet me let alone even run water for the foot bowl. In the meantime, I saw several other people walk in for manicures and they were waited on immediately. V's doesn't take appointments, so I don't think that was the reason someone was attended to me before me. Then a new woman sat down in the pedicure station and someone begain working on her fingernails immediately, ignoring me. I got up and alerted the manager, who gave me a lame excuse about not having enough acrylic technicians available. I was not there for acryclis! Also, one front facing employee seemed to be there just to drink water, walk around, and play on his phone while picking up the occasional piece of trash or moving carts. I don't know if this employee had a manicurist's license or not, but he could have at least greeted me, gotten me a beverage, and began putting warm water in my footbowl. I've been to this establishment when the owner was present, and if they were busy, he would do manicures and pedicures himself. I left without getting a pedicure since I had a hair appointment across town later that day. I had left plenty of time in my schedule to get a pedicure, if only someone would have seen to me within the first fifteen minutes of my arrival. Update 6/22: The owner contacted me about all of these concerns and stated how the technician was in violation of their COVID policies and health practices and refunded me. Understandably, payment and service practices have evolved during this unforeseen time and there was a lag in updating the customers and all employees on these issues. In addition, the owner was able to find the chrome polish they had that they chose not to use due to longevity issues. Hopefully all technicians are now updated on the standard of care now. I appreciated the owner reaching out as he did, but it felt excessive with the phone calls, text messages, and emails sent to me using the personal contact information listed on the COVID personal services form required before entering the salon. Original: This was a frustrating experience. I came, just wanting to browse the color selection to see if they had any chrome options. They said for me to come in and look only to be told that they had it but it wore off easily so they didn't use it. That felt like such a flimsy lie to me but now that I was inside the business, especially after loss of business during pandemic lockdown, I felt forced to stay and get something. I asked if I should show them my student ID for the 10% student discount and they said they weren't doing it right now due to COVID. I understand that but as a new client and reading the discount advertised on the storefront, that already made me a little frustrated as they had signs taped up on the window and paperwork on the outside table about new COVID protocols but nothing about price transparency. A service list was also not posted anywhere inside or in any visible brochures. I ended up just deciding to get gel polish without a manicure and the technician used a beat up very well used disposable nail file that looked disgusting and unsanitary. There was also nail dust visibly coating the tools and you could feel it when resting your wrist on top of the UV nail lamp. They were pretty good about checking my temperature and asking walk in clients to go back and grab a mask from their car to wear while inside but the cleaning practices did not seem to be great. When finished with a decent gel manicure but not what I came in for to look at to begin with, I tried to check out and had my credit card in my hand. That was when they said their credit card machine didn't work but that they had an ATM in the back. AFTER EVERYTHING they tell me and I didn't have cash on me at all nor did I want to be forced to pay foreign ATM transaction fees and cash withdraw fees on my credit card. I asked them if since their credit card reader wasn't working if I could pay with my debit card instead. They said oh it sometimes works sometimes doesn't but when I tried inserting my card in the touchscreen tablet checkout, there was no problem at all. The gel polish only being $25 without tip was not the worst around here but in my opinion a little steep without a manicure but the complete lack of honesty and transparency on nail product offerings, pricing and discounts, and finally payment felt very very unprofessional and made me leave not wanting to return. Compared to Lavish on Perkins, this was not at all worth it as the professionalism and just respect in customers, especially those trying to venture out during these scary times, was not worth considering a repeat visit. I guess the morons that run yelp's algorithm don't get the concept of "Loyal Repeat Customer" and the reason I am a loyal repeat customer is the high quality and very reasonable prices here. The owner (Ben) has been doing my nails since 2011. I used to come from Illinois to get my nails done here because I WOULD NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE. I have since moved here to Baton Rouge and Ben does a spectacular job on my nails. He works fast, clean and precise and the price is 40% less than I paid in Chicago. Now that it's the next day, my toes and one of my fingernails are raw from the rough filing and drilling. My nails came out really nice. I just tried to this nail salon yesterday and everything was good regarding the hand nails. However, on my toes I purchased a pedicure with the same color on my toes. Which should be simple right? Okay the whole time this man was digging so far deep into my skin with this small tweezer on every single toe. And it was hurting me. He just kept doing it and I knew I was going to pay for it so now I may as well just sit down and watch the show. I knew right away that one of my toes would land up with an infection.
