After having a terrible Brazilian wax experience at a different salon, I was pretty confident I would never try waxing again. I found myself taking a trip to the beach, and not wanting to have to shave every day. I did some research, saw all the positive reviews for Trudy's Wax Bar, and decided I would give waxing another try. Let me tell y'all, I'm so glad I did! The salon itself was very clean and had a relaxing atmosphere. Trudy was so friendly and knowledgeable. She also doesn't try to sell you a bunch of random products that you don't need!!! I was able to book an appointment through the online portal that day. Walking in, they had upbeat music and friendly employees. I witnessed a client come in who claimed her appointment had been moved, although they had no record of the rescheduled appointment. They were able to accommodate her with someone who had finished her appointment early, and the ladies maintained their professional manner even when the client was rude. My appointment started 10 minutes late, but my wax expert, Joslyn, did not cut my time short, and she spent my allotted time working to shape my brows. She also kept up a nice conversation during the wax which served as a distraction! She tweezed them and cut them as needed as well. My brows came out very nice, well shaped, just as I was hoping. I was given a little brow care package when I finished with some lotions and washes. My skin took a little longer to get rid of the red from the wax, but it was never irritated or broken. I also was pleasantly surprised to find out that my first brow wax was free! I had missed that on the website. The ladies did not push a subscription package on me, which I appreciated. About 30 minutes later, I was told to go sit in the pedicure chair, so I assumed I would be helped shortly. Instead, I sat there for an entire hour with no water in the bowl and no one starting my service. I also asked for an eyebrow wax, which was never done during that entire time. Throughout the hour I was sitting there, employees repeatedly looked at me and walked past without communicating any updates or acknowledging how long I had been waiting. At one point, one of my friends laughed and an employee told her to be quiet because "people come here to relax." I found that extremely rude and unprofessional, especially considering we were paying customers who had already been sitting around waiting far longer than we were originally told. I was finally helped around 5:50 PM, only 10 minutes before they close at 6:00 PM. Even after my pedicure was finally started, the service was extremely disorganized. One employee started my pedicure and then stopped in the middle of my service to go help another customer. A completely different employee came over and continued my pedicure, then he stopped as well, and the original employee eventually came back just to paint my toes. I was essentially passed back and forth between employees after already waiting over an hour to even be serviced. I understand that businesses get busy, especially on weekends, but I arrived an hour and 35 minutes before closing, which is a completely reasonable amount of time to come in for a service. If they did not have enough time or staff to accommodate me, I would have much rather been told that when I arrived instead of being quoted 45 minutes, left sitting in a pedicure chair for an additional hour, and then passed between employees once my service finally began. Overall, the lack of communication, extremely long wait, disorganized service, and the way we were treated made this experience very disappointing and unacceptable. If you cannot properly accommodate a customer before closing, be upfront about it instead of having them wait around for nearly an hour and a half and then rushing and switching employees throughout their service.
