Vortex Doors was wonderful! We have had our gym front doors broken for some time, and we were desperate to get it finally fixed. DJ and Kevin arrived on time and were super friendly, upfront, and honest about everything. Since it was during business hours they would often have to stop to let our members in and out. They were respectful to our gym members and kept the noise down. After talking to them for some time, I asked if they could also check our back door (which wasn't in the original call). They agreed without any hesitation, checked it, and reported it fine. Overall DJ and Kevin were in and out within 2 hours. They both had smiles on their faces the whole time and were simply wonderful to work with. We even discussed fitness and diets. If we need anyone else to fix our doors, not only will I call Vortex... but I am absolutely REQUESTING DJ and Kevin! Thank you so much! read more

Extremely disappointed with Vortex Doors. The initial installation was highly unprofessional, leaving us with a scratched door frame and multiple alignment gaps. While they eventually resolved some of the physical defects, the company promised to provide an additional remote control to make up for the remaining issues and the hassle. It has now been 6 months. I have made numerous phone calls and attempts to connect with them to get the remote. Vortex Doors is completely ignoring us. Once they have your money, their customer service disappears. To Management, I just wanted to send this because it has really been a long road working with your company. I started the process of getting my door fixed on June 24, 2024. It has taken until August 26, 2024 to finish fixing the door. You have been out to my facility 4 times: Tuesday, June 25: 1st time, your employee got "sick" on the job, so you came back the following day. Wednesday, June 26: 2nd time you replaced the spring but it was still too hard to lift the door, so you ordered another spring. Tuesday, July 30:3rd time you replaced the spring but it was still too hard to lift the door, so you ordered another spring. Tuesday, August 26: 4th time you fixed the door but left a cable hanging and exposed when the garage is lowered (Please see picture attached). I have been very patient and pleasant to your staff through this process, but at what point does quality service go out the window? Since this is a gym, I have had to adjust my other trainers schedules and cancel classes on each of these days to work around your staff, losing me money on 4+ occasions now. I sent this email and Ashley said that she would let management know. No one respond. They gaslighted me and nobody reached out to me. I had to get another company come and fix their issue. Had an issue with our front doors not closing properly so we gave Vortex a call. Dispatch team had a tech out within the hour to troubleshoot our door. Kevin looked at the door for a minute and already knew what the issue was. He gave us a few options and was very thorough and knowledgeable with our door system. As a Superintendent for a commercial builder in Southern California area. I come in contact with many of the trades frequently, and can quickly size up a contractor by their work routine, and their communication skills. One of the subcontractors messed up the front door frame while maneuvering a man-lift through the opened door. Jake from Vortex accessed the physical damage, and noticed the door was losing hydraulic fluid that was coating top of door, and added a beefier opener with a door stop. I got a phone call from Steve Wickens, asking if he could stop by my office and talk about my experience; the next day he was sitting in front of me, asking how to make it right. We talked it over and in the end, Steve made it right. I'm sure there was no profit left in the job for them, and considering I only have a small building with one door, I'm not likely to need them again anytime soon. Steve's only possible motivation was personal and professional integrity; traits that are pretty rare these days. This company rips you off! Their policy of non-disclosure of costs upfront before doing anything is offensive. Sending a different tech out than was scheduled (I specifically asked for the same tech that worked on the locks) to check up on work they did not more than a month ago should be done at no charge, and the tech himself said there would be no charge and about a week later I got a bill for $177. Their scheduling system is sloppy at best (and it's funny how Nicole, the rudest receptionist I ever encountered, insisted that their scheduling system was fine).This place needs to be put out of business. Sorry Vortex OC. This is for RIVERSIDE but they don't have a Yelp page I wonder why? Probably because these guys OVERCHARGE even when you obtain a quote, and they don't disclose how they're going to bill. Sit back and enjoy this craziness, while wondering how the heck they even stay in business. (Answer to that is: because people who need door repairs are too busy with their own businesses to read Yelp - but we totally should.) So, our warehouse gate was sticking. Wasn't broken, but it was hard to open. Just needed a bit of oiling, no big deal, ya? I figured we could break some OSHA laws and lift the lightest guy we have up on the forklift, but a thought is as far as that was going to go. So I called the guys who put the sticker for "door service" next to our doors before we rented this warehouse. It was Vortex in Riverside (and while it's not OC directly, Vortex is a large company and all locations have the same billing practices, so this review isn't all THAT misplaced. I asked what is their hourly rate for a service guy to oil-up our warehouse. gate. Was told the rate, which seemed high at first but after calling another place, I no longer though so. (I should have known better, right? Don't judge me.) I schedule the appointment. They don't-show on the first day ("oops, sorry"). They show up first thing the next morning. Ok, I'm not super happy but they doors aren't broken so it's fine. The guy does his work. Works slow as heck, but whatever - figured that's why the rate was so good. He's out within 56 minutes, including the time it took him to write up what is the work that he did. I want to write him a check and ask how much it is. He says they'll bill me - sweet. I sign the paper, he goes out, makes a few phone calls, leaves. A few days later, an invoice arrives. O. M. G. Not only did they overcharge me on the quoted hourly rate (which they eventually dropped down, after multiple phone calls and emails), but they did NOT tell me up front they would charge us FROM THE MINUTE the service person leaves THEIR warehouse, while they sit in the traffic, while the person does the slow work, while he sits in our driveway on the phone, until that person returns back to THEIR office. I wish I was kidding. I didn't care they sat in our driveway because I had no idea they'd be charging me for his phone call times!! Nor would I be booking them if I knew they'll be charging me to sit in totally-expected traffic. It's the cost of them doing their business - well, it would be, if they did FAIR business. Oh oh... AND... they bill in 15 minute increments ROUNDING UP. So their driver SUPPOSEDLY got back 4 minutes after the hour, and yup, I paid until 10:15 return time. Why? "Because it's easier on the accounting." There ya have it folks, because it's easier to do math. (No, I didn't ask what school they went to, if any.) So I get off the phone, have our admin pull some videos, send the videos to Vortex, with the time stamps, figuring they'll get to their senses when they see how slow their guy was and what he was doing in the driveway. But if they did that, I wouldn't be writing a review with 1 star, would I? I got a $69 discount, which is ALMOST 10%. Wow, thanks a lot, scammers. I escalated up the chain; that got me.. nowhere. This brown stuff rolls down from the top of Vortex, apparently. They even threatened to send the remaining balance due to a collector! Why? Because I didn't get a written quote from them, which they would guarantee. They didn't say that a written quote is required when they quoted me by phone (and just having the person's name didn't matter). I guess I should have known "a Vortex quote" is just a fake number, but "a Vortex quote on a paper" is a real one. Come on guys. BOTTON LINE: Vortex overcharges on quoted hourly rate unless you obtain a written quote. They bill you for the time their service worker is out of their office, not for the time they're at your location doing work. Their billing team threatens collections if you don't pay up. Huge shout out to Kevin and Jake!! My salon was broken into last night and unfortunately the doors were damaged in the process. Jake and Kevin were sent out and they were amazing! You could tell they knew what they were doing. After doing a quick quote and showing us what needed to be done they got to it and within a couple hours our doors lock better than they did before and updated all the push/pull stickers as well. After they were done they showed us what was done and what we lacked before the break in that they fixed as well. We were left with 2 keys and very clean glass haha. summer was the representative that was able to get us to higher priority and had them out within an hour of us calling!!!! Great customer service. Vortex has always treated us great. Called vortex for a front door issue, Mark came out and got doors adjusted for temporary, he recommended for a new smaller threahold. Kevin came back out and install the new threshold in a professional way. He also wipe down the doors and got the door looking new again. I highly recommend using vortex. read more

Do not use this company. Service man quoted 75.00 which is a high but fair price to put 2 screws in a door. However i was invoiced the next day for 207.00. When i called for explanation, instead of working with me on honoring the price they instead are only interested in going after their employee. Scumbags. read more

I don't know why there are all these negative reviews. My companies very old roll up shutter door into our warehouse blew the tension spring & we had to get it replaced, Vortex have serviced the door for years but it just got old & it was about time for a new one. The person I talked to at the office was great, he sent me a bid, told me it would take a couple of weeks to get the new door made & explained everything clearly. They managed to get the door made early (it took about 3-4 days) & called me to let me know it could be installed earlier than expected. The installers Anthony & Bob, turned up right on time & did a great job, they were very professional & courteous. Did the job in less time than they estimated & demonstrated the door worked to my satisfaction. Excellent experience all round & we are definitely going to keep using Vortex. I am in San Diego area. I manage a busy non-profit business. The Vortex technicians and their work was great. HOWEVER, the company policies for charging and nondisclosure of their charges is deplorable. #1 Be careful -- if you do not ask for a free estimate they will send out a tech and a truck and you could end up with a minimum first trip charge of $118 plus minimum labor of $59. They did not mention this charge to me up front. Due to my displeasure with this practice, they were willing to cut this fee in half. #2 They ended up adding another service trip charge of $118 into their estimate of labor charges. This does not seem ethical. They should fully disclose this as a separate item. #3 They may be good but they are too expensive. I will call someone else next time. At least I learned a few new questions to grill a company about when we need a service like this again. read more

Ok so this is a long story but the basic info is, they lie about their service, are unprofessional, overcharge, and refuse to stand by their work!!!! They drastically overcharge and they don't honor their own warranty. I run a service in an older building and the door frame is not straight. They measured it and told me I don't need to adjust the frame. The door showed up much later than expected and to my surprise didn't fit. They then remeasured it, blamed the shift in the building!?, and came by much later than quoted with a new door that didn't fit either, off on the measurements again. Then I got an hour of whining about they would have to eat the cost on the incorrectly measured first door, and the labor that day. They eventually hand cut the door to fit instead of adjusting the top frame they cut it. Leaving a large gap at the top!! I was told I would have a 5 year warranty so when I called the first time the lock broke they informed me that the warranty was only if I paid for yearly maintenance. Of course I argued this point, and they admitted the door was cut incorrectly and that they should have adjusted the frame before the install. I tried to get that in writing to no avail, figures. Then I called today, to pay to have the door adjusted as it is not functioning properly and was told that they refused to even work on the door. So 20+ hours on measuring, install, errors, and over 2K for a single door they won't even work on it later??? This company scams their clients lulls them into trusting them and then sticks you with bills over what was quoted with sub par work. Then when they mess up won't even come back out to repair their sub par door, by blaming the building. read more

We should have read the reviews here before calling Vortex. Thankfully they blew it before we could agree to anything. We had our initial appointment (sometime before 2pm)... We got a call 10 mins after 2pm to let us know they weren't going to make it. They said they would make it up to us and show up based on our schedule the next morning at 8:45am. At 9am, no one was there so we called in. The gal who answered said the 'other' gal we spoke to was on the phone and that she'd call me back right after she was free, BUT she did say that we were scheduled first for the morning, but they wouldn't have promised to be there at 8:45am. Well, about 40 mins. later, no return phone call... we called in again and they said there was an emergency that took our "scheduled" technician away, but we were next. We kindly told them to cancel the appointment since this was the second no show... It was met with attitude. We explained that we could understand two no shows, but not the lack of courtesy to call to let us know. That was two days of taking time off of work. Very unfortunate experience. read more

The rep came out the next day and emailed me a quote for the work which I accepted and called to set an appointment for the repair. The technician Jack, was on site on time. Consumer beware! Vortex will rip you off! This Company is incompetent in every way. The invoice that I received they added labor hours. They made up services that I did not receive. When I refused to pay their ridiculous bill they sent it to a collection agency. I told their management that I had their installer and what he actually did in-service on my security cameras and could prove that their invoice was completely wrong. Then they sent me a new invoice that I agreed to pay. about a month later received phone calls from the collection agency saying that I never paid them. They forgot that they had cashed my check and never contacted their collection agency to take me off the list. This experience was completely frustrating their installers can't even measure a piece of glass correctly their front end phone receptionist is rude and their management is completely ignorant.
