The single-pane french doors and windows in our home had seen better days, plus the city was offering a small rebate for energy efficiency upgrades, so we decided to start looking for contractors to replace two windows and two french doors. Mike's bid was one of the most competitive, yet he sourced his windows from a company with a very strong warranty (that we will hopefully never need to utilize). More important than the bid, I liked the idea of supporting a small local business, and my impression was that Mike was an honest person who wasn't trying to rip his clients, or potential clients, off. In fact, when we spoke to him about replacing our French Doors, he explained why he thought sliders made more sense. When we told Mike we wanted windows with grids, he explained to us why he thought the grids would not look good, and he suggested we stick with something else that cost less. He could have easily gone along with installing French Doors, or windows with grids, which would have cost us more money. However, based on our discussions with him, my impression was that he'd rather have satisfied clients, rather than make a little bit more money. Mike also personally came to provide an estimate, and he and Gustavo came a second time to measure the windows and doors. On the day of the installation, a crew of 5 or 6 guys arrived on time, and they were able to remove and replace our doors and windows in less than five hours. With all that said, the entire process was not flawless. There were 2 or 3 occasions when I had to follow up with Mike regarding the estimate/invoice, and to discuss the project itself. Due to the rains and Santa Ana winds, he also had to delay the installation of our doors and windows, which was somewhat time-sensitive due to the nature of the city's rebate program. However, Mike always took responsibility for any roadbumps along the way. I value that sort of integrity. In summary, I am extremely fortunate to have found Mike of Moore Replacements. I recently moved into a 25-year-old home with really horrible quality windows that were falling apart. Not only were the frames destroyed, they allowed an insane amount of heat and noise to enter the home. Several could not close, and had grids that had disintegrated from UV rays. I had initially reached out to Mike to install a dog door within my sliding glass door. On arrival he told me my options and he also let me know that they do window installations too. He's one of the few people in this area who has a business willing to install custom dog doors in glass. I had multiple window installers decline to offer this service. His quote was extremely competitive and though many might be tempted to go to a big box store, there is something to be said about supporting a small local business that has been around for decades. He was patient with me while I asked hundreds of questions as windows are a massive investment. After HOA approval, his team were able to install windows within 2 days and the quality of the windows were exactly what I was looking for. One of the insulated gas glass panels in my sliding door had leaked out resulting in reddish fog like staining. Unfortunately, it was past warranty so I had to get a new one. Mike came in with the best price, got someone out to measure despite his being sick and got the order and install turned out around quickly. He and his team did great and careful work during the install. They were very protective and careful with the doors, cleaned the glass to a shine and vacuumed up any debris inside and outside the door. The digital invoice made the bill a snap to settle and the lifetime warranty gives me confidence in the product. I hope I don't have more window/glass trouble but if I do, I'll be calling Mike.
