To order a dozen doughnuts that the staff chooses still seems to take about 10 minutes. The service, while slow, is helpful and friendly in spite of the long lines. The maple bacon doughnut is by far my favorite, followed closely by the Portland Creme. The typical doughnuts are fantastic as well. Before I begin... Parking is tricky & it is cash only! The customer service is great.. Our cashier didn't mind answering questions I'm sure she'd heard many times before. It was our first time there so we didn't know exactly what was in each doughnut or what was in their voodoo dozen doughnut box (I forget the correct name but they are the ones pick which doughnuts go in it; they can put certain ones in & will let you request a couple. Buying doughnuts is a very direct process. However Voodoo has put quite a fun and artistic spin on things. I really enjoyed looking at all of the artwork in the establishment while I waited in there famous never-ending line. The food itself was great! If you go and wait in line for 45 min and then complain about it, well, that's probably your own fault. You're there at the same time everyone else wants donuts. Anyhow, my only real gripe with this establishment is that they are cash only. In the end this is probably a good thing, since I rarely have cash, making trips infrequent and thus keeping my cholesterol at a healthy level. Although it can get pricey rather quick, there are a number of options to keep it low. I just discovered the Wrappers Delight, a three donut set combo for $4.20. Also, if you happen to be awake in the wee hours of the morning (4am) they sell day olds in a bucket for $8. These donuts are perfectly fine by the way and there's about 30 included. Just don't buy the last one, you'll probably make some nurses pretty sad. Maple bacon bar is by far the best. Hands down. Anyone that says it's less than stellar either hates these flavors and/or has ridiculous standards that aren't ever met. read more

Some really unique donuts here. And when they say no parking, they mean only six or eight metered spots on the street, there is absolutely no parking lot what so ever. The workers behind the counter were extremely helpful in explaining all of the donuts in the beautiful display case. We picked up a dozen. Some were traditional donuts like glazed and butter milk and cake and others were the more unique type. All were good. The bubblegum doughnut actually came with A piece of bubble gum. My kids enjoyed the novelty of the store. All of the specialty donuts are extremely sweet. Our favorite was the peach and the banana fritters. We went in on a Saturday morning. We woke the kids up at seven and drove from Parker to Denver thinking there was going to be a line person at 8 AM when we arrived, there was not a soul in the place. The employee gave our order great attention and explained which were vegan and which were not, and he even explained the cooking process for each of the fritters. We learned so much! Yes. The doughnuts are diabetes in a box. Yes, they are overpirced, but they are delicious. This is a must stop for any of my friends who visit and they always enjoy it. A late night after going downtown and don't want taco bell? Go to Voodoo, but the line will be out the door. I've had some fun conversations with strangers after a girls night when we want some voodoo and some awkward weird conversations, but it's fun. What's NOT fun is the attitude some of the staff have. There are certain ones who are always kind and helpful, but 2 in particular who just look bored out of their wits and like you are bothering them. Last time I went at night the guy and girl in front of us were talking about how rude one girl is and when we got to the front they were called to her line and they let us go ahead. I've been dreaming of Voodoo Doughnuts ever since I saw it on the Travel Channel years ago. When planning my trip to Denver, a visit to Voodoo became a top priority. Voodoo exceeded my lofty expectations. Upon entering the bakery, the sweet smell of freshly-baked doughnuts transports you to a different world. This doughnut heaven offers a tremendous variety of styles and flavors, from yeast to cake, glazed to creme-filled, vegan to meat-topped. I am lactose intolerant, so what's good for a vegan is good for me. I went with the vegan variety of the classic voodoo doll, a yeast-based doughnut with chocolate icing that is filled with raspberry jelly and stabbed in its chest with a mini pretzel rod. It was incredible. It was soft, light, and doughy, and though it was fried, it wasn't greasy or oily whatsoever. Truly, the doughnut was exceptional in all aspects. I even stopped at Voodoo the following day while on my way out of town for another taste. Additionally, the staff at Voodoo was friendly and helpful. The staff member at the register took the time to answer any questions and helped customers make their doughnut decisions, which was no easy task because of the multitude of excellent choices. Even when the line was long, the staff never rushed or took her concentration off of the customer at hand, which was indicative of the entire atmosphere at Voodoo. I will definitely visit Voodoo again the next time I am in Denver. A few tips: If you're driving, park on the street. There is a parking lot right around the corner on Humboldt Street that is privately owned, and you'll likely run into trouble if you park there for even a minute. Bring cash or plan on using an ATM. I was so excited to find out that there is a Voodoo in Denver! I had thought that they had only one location, Portland, so I was super happy to see this place while driving by. I immediately told my husband and we made a plan to go the following Saturday morning! I'd heard that the line can be pretty crazy, but luckily we didn't have that issue. Even the parking wasn't that bad for us, but I can see how it could be a problem at maybe a different day or time. I had looked into it a bit online and knew ahead of time that they took cash only, so we were prepared in that way as well! Ready to go! We got in line and only had to wait for maybe 15 minutes. While we stood in line, we admired the inside view. Tons of punk combined with hot pink. It's super fun and just what you would expect Voodoo Doughnut to look like! I especially liked the rotating doughnut case and their big artistic doughnuts of the day (follow them on Instagram to see their fun creations!). Once we got to the front of the line and spoke to a team member, she was super helpful and patient with us. I had been looking at their menu online on my phone to get more details of their doughnuts, so I was mostly prepared but I did ask for her opinion on choosing a cake doughnut and she gave us info on some of her favorites and helped us choose! She accidentally touched one of them with her finger and said "oops!" and went to throw it away, but I told her "no, no it's okay." I didn't want to waste a doughnut!!
