We stopped by this cool speakeasy bar that actually has an ice cream store that sells real ice cream. The website did not have reservation box to click on, so we went anyway. The waiting list was about 30 minutes, we hungout in the ice cream shop sampling the different flavors they had to offer. Once someone from the back called my name we followed him through the freezer door and entered the speakeasy bar. Cool looking bar with red lights. i live a few blocks from sweet action and will never turn down an ice cream run. the staff is truly the highlight. every time we come here we are met with the kindest energy on earth. they have interesting flavors. nothing bad. some of the flavors don't have enough toppings mixed in. i really really love the marshmallow cloud option. they put marshmallow fluff on top and then torch it so you have a crispy marshmallow layer on top of your ice cream. definitely get the cloud. not a ton of seating inside and a few tables outside. they do have a speakeasy inside which I've yet to checkout. the shop gets busy and depending on who is working, can get extremely backed up. be prepared to wait for a bit but it's worth it. i normally will opt for something sweet like butterscotch, butter pecan, any of the coffee flavors, milks & cookies, etc. i also really enjoy their sorbets! the mango and fruit punch half and half is excellent. definitely on the pricier side for ice cream. serving sizes are smaller and add up quick if you get any toppings. all in all, happy to have this in the neighborhood. will come back for cloud. read more

Loved this place! Came for the speakeasy in the back, but ended up being so intrigued by the flavors that on the way out, I grabbed a scoop. The girl working was so sweet, she let me sample the peppermint bark, and the butterscotch coffee, both of them were absolutely delicious, such intense flavor profiles with a crunchy element to really set it off. They were even able to split a single scoop into two flavors, at no extra cost, which was perfect for me to get both of these. The prices are normal, about seven dollars for the scoop. Loved this place, it's so unassuming. There are no tables to sit down, however so it's kind of a grab and go situation, or you could just walk through the freezer into the bar in the back haha. read more

Sweet action is always a good choice. The ice cream flavors online are generally always in stock in the store EXCEPT for the fudge options. The marshmallow fluff option is a topper that gets roasted onto your ice cream. The gooey texture on the bottom layer plus the semi-crunchy hardened top layer are hard to pass up, considering your ice cream doesn't get warm/melt. The shops ALWAYS clean, the music is low enough to not be a distraction, and the employees are nice. Service isn't very fast though, so don't come in a hurry. read more

While on vacation, if I want ice cream, then I want ice cream whenever I want it. I found Sweet Action, an ice cream shop a few blocks away from a restaurant that I ate at. While most, if not all, places ask for tips these days, this one doesn't, so keep that in mind before visiting. Upon walking inside, I immediately knew that I wanted an ice cream sundae, but also realized at the same time that they had a sign up that said that they were out of hot fudge. Despite this, they were happy enough to substitute it for chocolate sauce, which, according to one of the employees, had a similar taste to chocolate pudding. That was good enough for me, though. I ordered their brownie point sundae ($15 plus tax), which included chocolate ice cream, two brownies (one hot and one cold), chocolate sauce, and whipped cream on top. It was really good and I was able to finish the entire thing, but it was not really worth its' value, with it coming in a medium cup. I would come back again but choose something that matches its' value. There is no seating inside, but they have one picnic table that is accessible through a back door, if you're lucky enough to get it. Otherwise there's a bench on the sidewalk a few feet away. This is worth checking out if you live in the neighborhood or just visiting. Very good sundaes! read more

New to Denver it took me about 3 weeks before I gave it a shot and I am kicking myself for not doing so earlier. More oft than not they have unique flavors I indulge in almost every weekend. (Highly recommended for anyone who has munchies nearby). The staff is always really nice and polite. I have not tried the speakeasy, but may do so soon. Some of the top flavours I enjoyed was the Chai Ube, Apple Pie and Strawberry Cheesecake. The Menu does change so I recommend checking their website ahead of time. read more

As they are usually sweet coffee drinkers, the barista was very patient and helpful to us in making a drink selection. If you like a good cup of coffee for its flavor this place is great. (I'm a plain iced latte gal.) the cafe had sleek and clean vibe. Their pastries were beautifully made as well. I ordered their croissant with ham, cheese and green chili. The layers were perfectly buttery and flaky while the filling was savory and well-balanced. I am tempted to return based on their food selection alone. I also bought home some of their loose leaf tea for home. Their Morning Mist green tea (light and smoky), their Honey Orchid Oolong (light and toasty), and their Dehong Snow Phoenix (a mellow Silver Needle white tea). The consistency of the ice cream at Frozen Matter is no joke. It's very smooth and just feels like great caramel that melts on your tongue. But it doesn't melt into liquid water just because it's super hot out so you can still enjoy an ice cream without rushing to slurp it up. Cool place for ice cream. Frozen Matter has some crazy flavors. It has both ice cream and sorbet. Bad thing is that it's expensive. The ice cream though is high quality. Has a good amount of flavors. I came here with a friend. There was plenty of room for outdoor seating. It has so many good sounding flavors. There's always a few non dairy sorbets. It has some interesting ingredients. Sometimes these are not typically what you find in ice cream places and they can be unusual. I had the coconut lime sorbet, and my female friend had the cantaloupe cardamom sorbet. It's about $5 for a cup, which is kind of a lot for this. The sorbets has so much taste and they should be priced higher than typical ice cream though. It's high quality stuff compared to typical ice cream. This is still of course too expensive to get often. It should be checked out if you like odd flavored ice cream. Was in the are for an event and a few people I was with mentioned Frozen Matter as one of the best ice cream establishments for vegan/dairy free ice cream. Naturally, I had to check it out. A unique flavor that also had and unexpected chocolate shaving through. I tried some samples (Salted butterscotch and cardamom lemon bar were both good) but ultimately settled on strawberry chamomile and Whiskey brickle. As you can tell, they have some unusual flavors but none of them seemed gimmicky and I like all of them. I couldn't really taste the chamomile too much but it was a good creamy strawberry and the whiskey was certainly present but again, more muted than you might think. I might get the cardamom lemon bar next time I'm in for a zingier flavor. $6 in total for a single scoop with a split (extra charge) but they already include the tip, so it was $6 flat which I appreciate. read more
