I wouldn't normally review Vons, but this is a great market for the area and it's my parents' go-to. I was there three times in one day, for snacks, groceries, and pharmacy. This is a big market with lots of selection, clean and well organized. I'd like to specifically call out the pharmacy. I was picking up meds for my parents, and the people there recognized the name and asked how my parents were doing. I'm not used to this in San Diego, where no one knows your name, but it's nice to find the small town atmosphere even in a big market! read more

Kudos to Jesse and Chris in the Insta cart/Drive through service. My in laws live in El Centro and have been hit with this terrible flu. I'm 1000 miles away and wanted to help by sending them some food. Of course it's New Year's eve and day. Although they were out of a lot of things, we regrouped today and were able to get more items for my in-laws. We all stayed calm and were able to get a healthy food order out to them. All the people I talked to at the El Centro Von's were very friendly, patient, helpful and seemed to really care about getting my order to my sick relatives. I really appreciated everyone's help. A big shout-out to Mario in the bakery!!!! I was having a hard time finding Irish Soda Bread in El Centro. I had a St. Patty's party coming up and I wanted to bring this bread. After not finding any at Vons, I went to the bakery dept. to see if they had any in the back. They didn't, but I spoke with Mario, who offered to bake some for me. I was relieved and happy to be able to bring this annual bread to my friends. This was on Friday. He would have done it that afternoon, but I really didn't need the bread until Monday. I called Monday morning, hoping he hadn't forgotten. Yes! I had Irish Soda Bread waiting for me! Mario saved the day for me. And it was as fresh as if I made it myself. I try to be as nice as I can for reviews. I, honestly, want the businesses that I review to do good because I want to go there and be happy. But I've spoken to the managers over the past year and things aren't changing. The Best-Meat department has wonderful workers who know meat. The meat has been exceptional. 5 stars The good-Bakery is good. They have the meats that I get and cheeses. The olives and salads are usually good. They are always busy and there is a wait. The Horror-Is always out of bread, bagels, etc. I've spoke to every manager and they've talked to the people in bakery buy nothing seems to change. How is that possible? 3.5 stars overall It's been a year since we've moved to the area and started shopping at Vons. I, maybe, have adjusted and Von's has improved a bit making me happier and letting me raise my score a bit. I like Vons as a rule. It was the only grocery store close to where I lived in Long Beach, CA. so I got used to their products. The one in El Centro is the only major chain grocery that has any life so I go here the majority of the time. It is on Imperial near restaurants and banks so it is handy. The Really Good: The meat department is really good with workers that know meat. The meat is very good to excellent-we've had amazing steaks, ribs, pork and chicken from here. Great job to those who run and work in the meat department. The Improved: The bakery has improved! They are stocking the European Style French Baguette more often. It's something I always want when we shop. I still don't see the round Como Italian bread but I've talked to the workers about getting it in. I'm not sure why the change but it is good. Also, the check out seems better. I've had no problems since I wrote my first review. They are still short handed so I usually do my own bagging (which I prefer since I know where I want things to go). I am happy when a place improves because we all benefit. I hope Von's continues to improve in all departments and will review again, if it does. read more

Horrific customer service. I just came from Vons. I was at the deli cash register waiting to be served for several minutes. The female employee never looked up. Several minutes later a man walked up. The Vons employee immediately went from blind to 20/20 vision. She jumped up to help him. As she was serving the man, he evidently started feeling uncomfortable being on the receiving end of me (the woman he cut in front of) staring at him. He then said "I'm not in a hurry. I'll let her go first." The employee turned to me and said that she had to serve the man first and she would get to me later. Fortunately a male employee came out shortly afterwards and served me. Store manager - women make up half the population and I'm guessing we account for even more than half of your sales. If your employee treats all women the way she treated me, your store will go bankrupt soon. read more

I did a curbside pickup and when I got home several items were missing. I tried calling the store and no one ever answers so I just filed a claim to get a refund and they said it would be 24-48 hours and they never refunded it so I did the chat and now they say it will be 5-7 days. All I wanted was my items and now they have my items and my money. This was not the first time I had items missing but never reported but this time it was several items. I will not be shopping there anymore. read more

I have never heard of Vons until coming to El Centro. I love their flower selection. They have almost a whole section dedicated to flowers. The flowers I bought were very inexpensive. For the price I paid, I can buy them weekly. A tip for other men, women love it when you show them how much you appreciate them. Don't wait until it's too late. read more

Vons is doing a great job, even in these pandemic times. They seriously have check out separated 6 feet between people. For the most part, they are well stocked. Of course somethings are just not available right now (cleaning products, paper products, etc.) They are full stocked with deli products, fruits/veg, bakery, canned goods and frozen goods. They had some pretty decent sales going as well. This is by far the nicest grocery store in the Imperial Valley. read more

Sent $500 to my wife at Western Union in this store today. as I was being waited on another employee came up with a clipboard and I was asked to wait. They talked back and forth for about 5 min. in Spanish of course, as I waited. It seems customers time comes in second to employee time, So much for customer service. It was meh kind of experience. The outside looked dim and sad... the lighting needs a little help/revamping. My mom lives in Calexico, so whenever I go and visit her, I will drive her to VONS because she wants to check out the bakery, and we'll have girl time/talk on our way over there. But the last time we were there, there was no one to help us at the bakery. We wanted a birthday cake from the display and have someone write or put a little "Happy Birthday" sign on it. No one was there to help us. The people who worked there just walked by us pretending as if they didn't see us. So I walked myself over to the deli counter and asked for help, the lady there refused the help at first, but then she looked over and recognized my mom, and suddenly changed her mind and decided to help us. I've had better experiences at other VONS, but this one, in particular, I'm not a fan of. read more

3stars for the convenience of getting Srarbucks and groceries however u can't pay for any of ur groceries at the Starbucks or use ur Starbucks card at the Starbucks to get points. Otherwise it's a grocery store and I think the patrons are what make a place & alot of the ppl that come here seem a bit lost. This lady at the Starbucks this morning could not stop talking on the phone long enough to order then pick it up and take it away. There were 12 of us behind her as she took call after call. I've been watching extreme couponing and I came here to stack buy-one-get-one-frees on cat food. When I approached the register, I told the cashier that I had thirteen coupons and twenty six cat foods. At that point in time I had already calculated how much I was going to save on cat foods. The cashier then rang up all 26 cat-foods before double checking the store's coupon-stacking policy with the manager. The manager told her they only permit one coupon per purchase but that they would cut me a break and let me use up to three. I told the cashier that I only wanted to purchase six cat foods. So then she humiliated me by deducting the other twenty cat foods from my order one by one. By about the tenth individual cat food deduction, I looked at how many angry shoppers there were behind me in line. It was embarrassing as it made me feel like a coupon hoarding weirdo who has a basement full of 9,000 cat foods and 10,000 mustards. Plus I was only going to get 3 free cat foods and nobody was going to applause after I was done checking out. At that point I decided to just take my coupons and walk out of the store without buying anything, as I felt like the VONS coupon-stacking policy had just deflated my expectations and made an ass out of me in front of other members of my community. I took my business to Target Stores. They allowed me to stack all 13 coupons and get 13 free cat foods. Plus, the retail price of cat-foods was less at Target. Now I have 26 cat foods to put with the other 9,000 in my basement. In all seriousness, VONS is a colossal rip off and I never want to shop there again. read more

This Vons sucks in so many ways, the managers are lazy, there is never anyone working customer service and they won't cash out lottery tickets after a certain time, the produce is super overpriced, the labels are always wrong and the employees are hit or miss when it comes to customer service. The guy that is typically a stocker, Francisco, is consistently a D-bag, always rude, never helpful, and thinks he's pretty important. I have been helped by a few people there that are really nice, but it would be a much better store and I would shop there on a regular basis if they would weed out the disgruntled employees and lower their prices on produce. read more

Store getting worse every day. Is Thursday night, I am ready to pay for my groceries worth over $150.00 but there are only two cashiers and long lines. I had to bag my own groceries and while doing that I did not notice that they overcharged for a bag of shrimp that was "on special". Items are overpriced, specially the vegetables, salads are not fresh, could not find fresh spring mix or arugula. Lucky for me that Walmart has good salads that are fresh and less expensive. read more

This store is the best of quality in the valley. Prices are a little high compared to some grocery stores, but the food is fresh and will last. The employees are kind and helpful. Depends on when you shop, it may be very busy. Sunday evenings is when the produce is the lowest- because everyone has picked through it. This is my favorite grocery store in the valley. read more

Went grocery shopping on Sunday at this location I am a regular Vons customer back home so I'm used to excellent customer service during my grocery shopping :) i am in El Centro for work I would like to post my positive review and give props to the staff here @ this store 1st of all the bakery department looked like it was in an Olympic bake off competition with cakes lookin so tantalizing and so beautiful I wanted to snap photos just becus ! The employee that was there gave us a beautiful greet and smile so way to go bakery Dept !! The shelves were stocked and easy to find the items on my list with the exception of 1 item I went on a scavenger hunt on whew I got my excercise looking for that sneaky lil display but just as I was about to give up I approached a manager and he directed me right to the item that I missed about 4 times circling the isles like a shark in the Cali waters so with that being said I shopped my entire grocery list which is a plus u shoppers know what I'm talkin bout . The cashier who checked us out was also a manager and he was personable and made the end of my trip a super day I wish I got names of all the AWESOME employees to personally thank them but I did not upon leaving a young man also a cashier made sure I found what I was looking for before I left the store which shows they care about their shoppers this kind of customer service seems to be dwindling away these days so I appreciate all you who still show your customers know you care for their buissness it makes us feel human in this high tech world there were plenty shopping carts available which is nice to not have to go to the parking lot to find one or move it away from your car so it doesn't damage your ride also the deli offered mango habenero baked chicken that made my life easier of not having to cook ‍ and made my tastebuds sing Who would think a person gets so excited and had much to rave about over a grocery store huh?.... well I DO me me me . I am greatly disappointed with this store, their customer service, knowledge of products, and treatment of customers who use the WIC program is embarrassing and unacceptable. El Centro is a food desert. It is sad, especially since it is technically an agricultural community. Vons is the only store, with exception to Walmart, who offers a variety of "organic" foods. They also claim to accept WIC as well. I have witnessed and experienced a great lack of knowledge, tacked, and politeness from the cashiers almost every time I have shopped at Vons. If you are going to work in a grocery store, please know the names of the produce you carry and be able to problem solve how much said item is without having to call a manager for every other item. Also, if Vons is going to offer WIC,please educate your cashiers on the importance of WIC for nutrition of developing children and work with your employees to streamline checkout. On more than one occasion, I have seen and heard cashiers become frustrated and speak rudely to customers who know more about the WIC program than the Vons employee. Do not offer WIC if this is how your employees are going to treat mothers and fathers who are trying to feed their children despite their current income. read more

There is always only one or two checkers with 6-7 people at a time in each check-out lane and the store is very crowded after working hours. Not good at all! I'm giving it an extra star because of the items they carry. I usually find items here I can't find elsewhere. The produce guy is nice and helpful, but the staff seems a little ambivalent. Von's is bicycle friendly. U can bring your bike inside. Just be responsible with it and mature.

Very long lines and only 2 or 3 cashiers available and sometimes I even have to bag my groceries. All vegetables are extremely expensive and you are lucky if they don't charge you twice for an item. you have to check the receipts all the time. If I have to stand in line to pay for my food I would rather go to Cardenas or Food for less. at least you know what to expect and they are not that expensive. Cardenas has good vegetables and the best tortillas in the Valley. Costco has very good deals on vegetables and a lot more. read more
