Moved Again! So, happy we found them after going to the other location. There was a banner on the building with the new address. Not to far away in Heber, about 20 minutes from the prior place. The new building is nicer & very visible from the street. A new street sign has also gone up. This even has a restroom, which the other did not. We've sampled most all their carne asadas and pollo asadas, our favorite to take home is the angus cut with lemon & Kennedy seasoning. The angus cut is thinker and goes best with their pico salsa & freshly cooked flour tortillas. The flour tortillas are sold Raw for the best freshness.... cuts are quality and can be a little pricey when picking up Carne approximately $8.99 a pound. Always very fresh and friendly service from the staff!! In speaking with the cashier on our way out she said their is a location in Imperial Beach & then this original location. It's always a stop for us to get this outstanding Mexican meat every time we head back from San Diego to AZ. Don't worry if your traveling & don't have anything to store it in! They got styrofoam coolers and plenty of ice for cheap! Clean little store with much to offer it's locals and travelers alike! read more

Came down to el centro to visit my best friend and she took me here to get some carne asada . I bought some for myself and some more friends back home and they said it was the best ! We froze it and tried it later while camping and hands down delicious! They also have really good Michilada cups mmmm read more

I went there and spent 33 dollars on 2 and a half pounds . The meat looked great through the glass were it was kept. I got home and the butcher had given brown meat . Not as shown when picking your choice of meat in the window . SMH. Never again will I recommend that place or go there again. read more

"Best carne asada in Imperial Valley"? Everyone seems to say this (probably out of having read the sign out front or ads in the IV Press so many times that it's become embedded within their brains), but Kennedy's has never, ever proved this to me. The carne asada is average at best (semi-tender and lacking flavor, with a little too much fat). I remember they had a restaurant across the street that closed down within a year or two back around 2000 or 2001. The tacos made with the alleged Kennedy's "best carne asada in Imperial Valley" at this place were, again, a little less than average. Meh. How could a place claiming to have the best carne asada in Imperial Valley close up? The only carne asada that is worth cooking on your grill is from El Sol Meat Market. Ask for the "arrachera" carne para asar which is around $6/7 a pound or so. It may sound a little costly, but you will never want any other carne asada in the WORLD. El Sol's carne is one of very few things I miss about the Valley. Re: the market itself... it's your average "general" store but I suppose it does the job for the citizens of Heber (seeing as it is the only store in town). I have no reason to go out of my way to come here when I'm in the Valley, but have been here my fair share of times. read more

Well I agree with Jennifer C. but I also have to say that they do have some of the better meat in the Valley. Del Sol in Calexico has some pretty tastey meat. When I used to live in the Valley I was brainwashed to think that Kennedy's was the best meat and I always agreed to it. But now that I've ventured outside of the Valley I've found that carne asada from Kennedy's isn't what everybody in the Valley says it is. Don't get me wrong, like I said the meat is good. This place is definitely worth checking out and judging for yourself. I grew up in San Diego and have tried various meat markets and none compare to Kennedy's arrachera meat! I do go out of my way to buy meat here whenever I can despite the fact that I still live in San Diego. I do remember the restaurant that closed down, but I believe that had more to do with a poor choice of location (eight block town with no thoroughfare). Ok, I have to admit I haven't had real-live Kennedy's of Heber Carne Asada for a few years now, but if it is even 1/2 as good as what I grew up on it is worth the trip. My great-grandparents moved to the IV in the 1920's...my dad was born in Calexico and when I was growing up in SD in the 1970's, whenever any family member came anywhere near El Centro it was just a moral imperative that several dozen pounds of "Heber Carne Asada" would be purchased. Long before the 'carne asada burrito' hit SD taco shops, we were savoring Kennedy's Carne Asada. REAL carne asada is: a fairly tough cut of flank, sliced thin and marinated in a lime juice to tenderize it, and thrown on the grill with just enough fat on it to prevent more than outside charing (read: charcol grill, none of that Burger King propane stuff). Crispy/char outside, a thin layer of fat, then a 1/8" rare goodness in the middle makes the perfect carne asada, no matter what your local X-berto's taco chain says. read more
