After a friend gave me some Rameys Tri tip, I came all the way from Yuma to buy it for myself. Customer service was awesome, the owner gave me the tips and tricks for cooking, grabbed some carne, some steaks, and a couple bottles of seasoning and had a hell of a weekend. Yes! The carne asada is the best. However, their corned beef is the absolute best I've ever had anywhere in the world. I was put off by the cost per pound but there was almost no waste. I have to say I have not been to this spot since I was a kid but recently some family stopped by there after a long drive home and surprised us with a TON of meat! My boyfriend and I love cooking so getting a variety of meats from the famous Ramey's was a treat. We enjoyed a big taco night with some family having the carne asada and pollo asada but the star of the show for me was the tri tip. After a long hot day in the sun we finally decided to grill up the tri tip and WOW everything about it was sooo good! Definitely one of my favorite family meals and I wish we had more leftover but it was too good to not keep eating. I usually never buy carne asada premarinated because it's so easy to do myself and I can control what goes into it. These guys have figured out the magic combination!! Wow!! I will buy it every time I'm close from now until I leave the area. Picked up some imperial wagyu NY strips (see pics) today that were unbelievable. Whenever I get assigned to the Imperial Valley, Ramey's is a MUST. We grill tons at the hotel and I always take extra home. The beef is perfectly marbled and from Brandt Farms which runs a pretty green farm. The beef melts in your mouth and has such....great.....flavor. The marinated chicken thighs are fabulous...but the thing that always has me coming back for more are their sausages. They are all pork sausages with natural casing...which gives that wonderful *Snap!* when you bite into them. They are huge and come 4 to a pack. Their potato & bacon ones taste like delicious breakfast. The Cajun Hot have reeeeally good heat. I also got beer brats made with shock top, and the southern spice ones that have a good bite as well. Hands down the best carne asada I've ever had! It's not your typical carne asada but delicious in every way possible. We've had it shipped to us many times. California shipping is much less expensive than our current home of Idaho but it's worth it! We're currently waiting for another order to be shipped to our family in California who will be driving it to us soon. You can order it in 20lb increments. But the Imperial Valley has always been about the best carne asada ever and heaven forbid if I ever went home to Orange County when I was stationed in El Centro without 10 pounds of carne from the Food Palace back in the day. Let's talk about the rib eye steaks now. I have never seen meat so red and fat so white. Turns out the meat is from the Brandt Farms, which raise their cattle on strictly grass. We drove from Borrego Springs to score some steaks and a brisket. I grilled the steaks over red oak to a medium rare and for a New Years Eve dinner, nobody was eating better. A very gracious staff, cut to order on the steaks. Not like your normal meat store or butcher shop. Just tell'em what you want and if you don't see it in the microscopic refrigerator section, ask'em.
