Visited 7/14/2023 The Original Town Pump House. 200 w. Main St. Westmorland Ca 92281 Friday Nights Dinner in Westmorland Ca. My first time here. Loretta had been here a number of years ago and said she enjoyed the place back in the day. Those who travel to Brawley now and then May remember it seeing that it's the only steak house or upscale Restaurant ? for some distance. Well I had to try this old legend standby that had been on my bucket list for years. First it's been upgraded inside with a large seating area. Much larger than it looks from the outside. Nice Decor and clean. The staff was very friendly from Management to Servers to the Busers. They were very pleasant. Now for the food. Sadly it was somewhat under my expectations. It's Reputation wasn't apparently still A+ The dishes we ordered were far overpriced for the Quality We Received. Loretta Ordered The Regular Cut Prime Rib medium rare. It was cooked to a perfect temperature and not bad seasoning but a bit Tough for an $37.00 piece of Beef. I should have known better but I ordered The Seafood Platter. Shrimp, Scallop's and Catfish. $41.00 Far overpriced for frozen breaded seafood. It was well overcooked and flavorless. 2 Stars. I will say the baked potatoes were perfect. The highlight of dinner was The Friday Clam Chowder. Very good and chalked full of tender Clams and Vegetables. Thick and Creamy. Well now I know. Gotta go with 2 1/2 Stars for the Quality and Overpriced Menu. Sorry I won't be returning.

New to the area, we stopped in. The prices are pretty high. Food is good. Service was not.

Food was great and the service was excellent. Great local steak house. The calamari appetizer was well prepared.

Everything was tasty but I would make a few recommendations:…read more One is change the fake butter flavored spread or whatever it is that is used on the texas toast/sandwich bread - it cheapens the quality of your "homemade" food. Second, check the salad mix for rusty/brown/wilted bits - it totally killed the excitement I had to find your ranch dressing is yummy (i.e. not that cheap weird tangy crap many restaurants use) and my salad had ham bits but then it had like a 1/3 bad lettuce that I had to remove. Lasty, even though it's the end of the day and I know you are tired - front of the house customer service is equally as important to me as the quality of the food. It's imperative to be pleasant always and not make the customer feel like they are putting you out or burdening you - smile more at the very least - make me feel welcomed and want to back. Okay, sorry... one more - no one wants tomato slices as their only side veggie option - they were mealy, went straight in the trash, and that's just wasteful for your pocket and mine. There is no shortage of mixed veggies (frozen or canned) and I would be more than satisfied to have that as an option with real butter applied. That's just MHO - maybe the town likes tom slices and I'm way off... idk - I just didn't get it and I'm not a fan of that veggie option. Now the goods - prime rib was very flavorful (not quite med-rare as requested but the flavor made up for it), fish n chicken tenders was a good portion (though I don't think I was supposed to get 2 fish/2 chicken filets - it was still yummy along with the tarter sauce, and the salad with ham bits made me very happy... plus the ranch was quality (tasted like the good Ole hidden valley ranch dip packet w/sour cream which far exceeds that other bottled junk including the bottled version of its own, lol). Ambiance was fine for a diner but could benefit from a sprucing up to more match the feel of the outside of the building. A spring cleaning and a fresh slap of white paint to pick everything up inside. I like the little "gift shop" in the middle giving more privacy between tables. Overall, Steaks n Cakes is a much appreciated option in Blythe where a lot of quality dining options are lacking. Thanks y'all!

The atmosphere is absolutely perfect small town diner, clean, and everyone is friendly. Plus it has…read morethe town paper. The breakfast eggs, hash browns, and sausage patties hit the spot. Kids loved the burger. This is a small town diner... for what it is... real food... it's great. Everything is the home made version of a meal... which if you love real food... you will appreciate.
