The only reason I shop at Vons is because it's much closer than Stater Bros. Besides having higher prices than any other grocery store near me, Vons is consistently out of advertised items, even on the first day of a sale. The meat counter is not staffed by the most knowledgeable employees and it's a toss up about the produce department, sometimes great, sometimes not. Almost every time I shop there, there's a pricing error on my receipt. Plus, many of the employees just don't seem happy to be working there. The best things about Vons is the bakery department and they have a really good selection of cheeses and deli items. read more

I have never been so offended as I was at the de Palma store at Corona this morning. A black employee insulted me in such a way that I have never been insulted before. She works in customer service and as of today, I will no longer be a customer of Vons. She treated me like I was a child when I ask for help with the product on the scanner. She already has an attitude when she came over to the self checkout register. I don't know what her problem is, but she felt like she was entitled to speak down to me and insult me the way she did take note people. read more

I am giving the store an overall 4/5 stars The store overall is a good grocery store, the people who work here have been kind and helpful. The store is kept clean. I like that this Vons has a decent amount of healthier brand options throughout the store. We love their meat market and we keep our eyes out for their meat sales and stock our freezer up when something's on sale. What I don't like about the store is that I've found out-of-date food items on the shelves a few times. Also, what I don't like about coming here is that you can get the weirdo people here from outside the nicer area that the store is in either from 15fwy out of town travelers or the not so nice areas down the road. If you come in the mornings on the weekdays, you see more normal people which makes shopping more comfortable for moms with kids. Their Store Pickup option from the Vons app is awesome! Convenient and Solid Grocery Store - But Meat & Sushi Need Work (4 stars) Vons at Sycamore Creek is my go-to spot because it's close to home and usually comes in clutch. I'd give it five stars if it weren't for the weak meat selection and inconsistent sushi. Let's start with the good: * The produce section is excellent--always fresh and well-stocked. * The deli has some great options, especially the rotisserie chicken. * The staff is friendly and checkout is usually fast. * There's both an inside and outside Starbucks, which is a nice bonus. * They also tend to have decent flowers if you're grabbing something last-minute. Now the not-so-great: * The sushi is hit or miss. I went on a day when the sushi chef wasn't there and the pre-made stuff looked tired and unappealing. * The meat section really needs attention. There's rarely a good selection of cuts. No marinated tri-tip, no short ribs, and no pre-made burgers that would be great for weekend barbecues--which are pretty common in this outdoor-friendly neighborhood. This store has the unenviable portion of being near two 55+ communities. What does that mean? Older folks tend to be critical more than most folks. I'm in that category, and cannot be happier with this store. Great feeling inside. Relaxing music, Starbucks in here, but my main focus of this review is the bakery. We ordered some sandwiches for our party. Rosa in the bakery took the order by phone. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and nailed the order to perfection! I would absolutely recommend this option for parties. The price was much more reasonable as opposed to the sandwich mega chains, and our guests were very complimentary of the food. I've lived in Horsethief for 4 years, and I am in this store at least twice a week. So everyone in the store knows me or sees me regularly. I stopped in on a Saturday and spent 90$ on groceries, including Chicken. I noticed when I got home, I was charged twice, 2 different prices for chicken.... I only bought one thing of chicken, so how I was charged twice, I have no idea... I went in the store a few days later and talked to someone behind the service counter, and I felt like I was bugging her as I showed her the receipt, She was pretty much walking away before I can even explain, but once I did she said "sorry, nothing I can do"! I don't care about the $18.00. But she was straight up mean, and basically treated me like shit. Everyone else in the store is supper friendly, so it's chill, I'll keep shopping there. I bought three $50 Macy gift cards from the gift card display in the store. Even though they were activated at the cashier checkout, when I decided to use them a few weeks later, they had been used and there was no money left on them. The store manager stated to me that their policy is that all gift card sales are final and they could not help me or refund my money. Macy's was not helpful either and I finally got them to open an investigation for fraud. Von's was not helpful at all. I would recommend not buying gift cards at that store. read more

My husband purchased three $50 Macys Gift Cards at Vons on De Palma road for my birthday. When I tried to use the gift cards at Macys I was told that they had already been used. We went to Vons to tell them they sold us fraudulent gift cards. The customer service rep said it was our problem. There is nothing they can do about it. There is a younger female assistant manager named Liz whom is completely out of control and made it uncomfortable to shop there. Good selection and mostly well stocked at the Sycamore Creek location -- some items are pushed to the very far back on the top shelf though. Those can be difficult for me to get given my mediocre vertical and time does not always permit me to get help. Pricing is good, only a little marked up for the convenience of being hyper local to me in Sycamore, I think it's fair and worth it. All staff has been very friendly every time I've visited, though I mostly keep to myself unless I need help reaching something. I just shopped for the last time at this store. The lack of service is astounding. I went to check out this morning and no check out lanes were open and not a single clerk was in sight. Finally a clerk appeared and I I asked if they were going to open a check out lanes. She said yes, in a minute as she began a conversation with some type of technician. After that she disappeared. We have been shopping here since we moved to the area three years ago. We really liked the cleanliness of the store and the friendly personnel but something changed as the store has gone down hill. Unfortunately, out of stock and nearly expired goods are becoming more the norm. Today I purchased some pork ribs and when I opened the package a horrendous spoiled odor emerged. I drove back to the store to return them and let them know they need to check the other packages. I was met with no apologies and no acknowledgement that a follow-up would occur. Vons has an amazing deal right now with Ben & Jerry's ice cream they're literally $2.43 apiece with just for you app. My wife was so tickled last night at such a great price. I came back today and they rang up at six bucks apiece so I went to the customer service counter and the guy explained to me that that's a one time deal for the whole week, but Michale was an awesome dude and gave it to me at the discount price. I don't get how there is such a huge divide with different types of workers here. The manager here seems nice, the cashiers are all nice but the people in the deli are terrible. They are slow and don't pay attention. Asking questions of floor workers gets not much more than a noncommittal grunt. And there is one guy who is always outside complaining about work. Today that guy decided to up his laziness into rudeness with his attitude and commentary. Got food poisoning from the deli Tuesday afternoon from chicken tenders. Confident that was the source since I didn't have any other food that day and the symptoms were actually that if food poisoning. still dealing with the repercussions of that on day 3. This is our normal grocery store since we live so close and over the last couple months we have been driving to stater brothers since the shelves are empty of many things that we like and now this... Ever since I moved off the 15 instead of the 5, I've been looking for somewhere cheap to buy gas when visiting the lady friend. Luckily, they have gas buddy which helps locate if you can plan but when you screw up and don't have more than 10 miles left, you gotta make due with what's available. Von's gas saved my butt and hey apparently are really cheap too. If you have a Von's card, you get the standard 3% back, more of you shop there frequently. This specific Von's gas is great because they have their prices visible from the freeway, unfortunately though, you can't see them until it's too late. The worst part about this Von's is the access to the gas. Every time I go, I have to loop around and go in awkwardly when I just ant to drive straight p, but I can't. Why? Because I'll get boxed in like the idiot that did that two days ago.... My suggestion to the Von's, swap the directions. Overall a decent gas station close to the freeway that's cheaper an my local Costco. I will definitely be frequenting this place when I come to la TL:DR, cheap gas near the freeway with awkward access. Get a Von's card too, read more

I can not even give this horrible location a 1 star but I have to I order to post my review. Every time I shop here the employees are RUDE. I'm feed up with this location to the point that I am going to file a complaint with their District Manager. How is it that this store chargers the prices they charge and have the audacity to treat the people the way they do. If they didn't have shoppers they wouldn't have a job. I went in there today and the old man that was working at register 5 didn't even give me eye contact not one time. I had to say hello to him first. He didn't ask if I had a VONS card number. He did not tell me my total. I had to look at his monitor to see my total for myself. Which took me a few seconds to figure out because I wasn't sure if he needed to push a button for my total to decrease. After I waited I realized he couldn't care less to tell me my total so I swiped my card. After that, my receipt printed. He was SOOOOOOOO busy looking straight ahead. I had to ask for my own receipt. Like really ?? I mine as well scanned my own products. I'm starting to believe that whoever is running this location clearly doesn't gives a care how his location is ran. This has not been the first time I have experienced a rude cashier at this location. Like come on. I shop at other grocery locations and I don't have a bad experience. Walmart employees are friendly, Albertsons, even Stater bros. And Trader Joe's gives excellent service. I think management need to start to mimic these other locations or reach out to see what they are doing and copy their best practices. It shouldn't be that hard to to slide some food across a scanner and push a couple buttons with a damn smile. But Register 5 old guy was sure happy smiley with the older white lady that Checked out right before me. I guess you have to be light skinned to be treated with excellent service at this location.
