Don't place orders for pickup at this location. Every time I place an online order items appear to be in stock. But every time items are out of stock and they don't inform you until you're notified that the order is ready for pickup. Check the notification carefully. They always substitute more expensive replacement items, and especially substitute items that aren't on sale for the sale items I ordered. I recently placed an order for about $95 but with the more expensive and not on sale items they substituted, the price increased to $127, plus the substituted fewer items since the sale items included things like buy one get one free, etc. Hopefully there won't be an issue with them charging me even though I cancelled the order. Customer service girl wearing pink today was beyond rude and curt to me when I asked for help with balloons and flowers. I wanted to buy a custom bouquet and the girl at customer service told me it was closed with an attitude. She is very uncourteous and not friendly. I didn't do anything to deserve that treatment. I will go back to talk to a manager. I told the cashier but he didn't do anything about it. I have been shopping at this Vons since the 80s. And I even worked here. I can't believe how customers are being treated. It's really despicable. The sign at the flower kiosk said go to customer service for help. And she said she would call someone. No one ever came. We appreciate the layout of this Vons, it's huge but everything is easy to find. The prepared food section is great and theres a Panda Express and Starbucks inside, as well as a dry cleaners (to the left of the entrance, before the restrooms). Had a really nasty experience here 2 days ago; this woman was screaming in my mother's face in the lot over a parking disagreement (never was that serious, but she would not leave us be). When we got inside the woman was still following us to curse and try to fight, literally taking off her mask to get in my mom's face and try to punch her. Things only got worse when the very short Latina staff member posted at self checkout (manager?) started reprimanding me and my mom. She was so certain the situation was our fault and tried to convince security we started a fight, but didn't do anything at all to stop the woman attacking us. This staff woman even made a stupidly snide comment about how my card 'declined' for the purchase I was trying to make, when really I was just too flustered by the situation and her attitude to do the transaction correctly. This Pavilions is located in the same plaza as Tuesday Morning, Yamaha, Burlington Coat Factory & Starbucks. There is plenty of parking, but I can see how sometimes the lot can get busy (since parking is shared with all of these other businesses). In general, this location is nice and clean and has a similar layout to all the other Pavilions that I have been to. Employees here are pretty friendly, never had a bad encounter with an employee and don't expect to. What makes this particular location a bit more unique than other Pavilions that I have been to is that there is a Panda Express in here, a Starbucks (even though there is also a Starbucks store in the plaza as well) and a Jamba Juice. Overall, this is a nice store to shop at (even though sometimes they have higher prices than Von's, even though they are from the same Safeway company) and in a good location with other businesses in the plaza to grab a bite to eat or shop for other non food items. Plenty of parking (generally...) and clean store (very important, especially if I am going to be buying my weekly groceries needed to prepare meals for my family). read more

One of my favorite markets to stop by for fruits, drinks, frozen foods, ice cream, chips, snacks and just about ANYTHING! There are a variety of selections you can choose from and everything seems to be fully stocked. The parking lot is pretty big and parking is not hard to find at all. The inside of the store is always super chilly regardless of how hot or cold it is outside. So, remember to bring a jacket inside to stay warm! :) Service is pretty friendly at the cashiers (most of the time) and around the various counters throughout the store. I love how the store is so spacious to walk through. I felt discrimination at this store today. I usually buy my groceries here, but the cashier today,lane 3 named James, made me feel like I didnt understand english. He repeated instructions to me and talked down on me like I was stupid as he was scanning my groceries. He kept telling me how I should place my items on the conveyor a certain way and kept talking to and looking at the security guard as if I was doing something wrong waiting for them to finish scanning. This review is for the fruit department. I bought hand cut fruit here and the fruits were not properly cut. For example, the pineapples were very big and they seem to be rushed. The deli or fruit dept lady was rushing and did not care about cutting the fruits well. Some pieces of the pineapple and cantaloupe were huge and could be cut into 4 pieces. But they just left it into 1 big piece! Hard to bite. They need to fix those fruit bowls! Also wanna leave a review for the deli lady who is Black and around her mid 30s. I don't shop here often. Kaiser took away the Silver Sneakers free membership to LA Fitness. I did the self checkout. I do that at Ralphs, all the time. I got stuck. I asked for help from an employee standing there talking to customers. He didn't walk the 8 ft it would have taken him to help me, so he just pointed to my machine. That didn't help. He came over, and had to push some buttons. Then, I was stuck again. This time he was angry and impatient. He still had to push some buttons. Mind you, his only job was to help customers with self checkout. He was so rude, mumbling and talking down to me. I was so mad. I hate to see businesses waste money - hiring people like him. As I walked out, I said, "Be a man. Show some manners." He mumbled, "Be a man, learn the self checkout". I would have said that at age 27. No one would listen. At age 77, having a degree in Business (Marketing), a career in sales, some people really should listen. I didn't tell him all that. He would have gotten mad. It wasn't that he was Mexican. I have worked with, and spoken Spanish to, co-workers and employees since 1973. Mexicans are so friendly. I could go on and on about them, and how "we" can learn from them. BUT, there are always exceptions, maybe those born into arrogance. The store manager should keep a closer watch on some of the employees. He should ask himself how it is that Trader Joe's employees are so personable and friendly. I don't know the answer to that. For the most part, my shopping experience at this store has been alright. However, I am just completely shocked by the attitude on full display by the woman at the deli counter. I'm thinking maybe she was covering for someone or was past the end of her shift, but regardless, it was really uncalled for. I was at the store on 9/30/22 and witnessed a cashier, Joseph, who was so patient with a female customer. The lady in front of me was giving the specific instructions to Joseph as how she wanted the items to be bagged. She must have at least 8 bags and during the process she would change her mind and asked Joseph to adjust some of the items. The cashier was so patient through out the process. Then come to the time for her to pay. It took a while to her to find the purse, and she kept asking for the amount to be paid. During the process, there was another customer stopped by to say hello to Joseph. The lady complained to Joseph that they disrupted her concentration to get the right amount to pay. Joseph patiently told her again few times of the amount. Finally the entire process is completed. Then Joseph apologized to me for waiting in line patiently. But I told him that I was so impressed with his patient dealing with the customer. He is maybe in his mid-twenties and very polite. The rapid decline of this store is sad and troubling. Pavilions used to be the cream of the crop grocery store in the area with short lines and excellent service. The produce is terrible now but they charge whole food prices. If you want to charge whole food prices you better have the quality to show it. Today at self checkout I grabbed my bag to leave. The short Hispanic cashier working self checkout said: "Hey! Shopping cart." First of all if you work any kind of customer service job and think you can hey a customer, you need to be trained. I asked where to put it and he signaled to push it outside. I jokingly said: are you going to pay me a salary? He responded: "You brought it in." Wow. Just wow. I like coming here for their wide variety of food and sometimes they have really good deals. I would always choose Vons over Ralph's when given the option. Just recently I've noticed their customer service is pretty bad. I got scolded by their bagger/cart collector for taking the shopping cart with the little kid car attached to it outside the store. I told him I was planning to return the cart back into the store. He just ignored me. There were no sign saying I can't take it outside the store. The cashier who scanned all my food watched me push it outside and didn't say anything to me. Did he expect me to carry my 11 month old in one arm and hold all my groceries in the other hand? Today was something special. We encountered four staffs. One of the four actually said hello with a big smile. The lady at the fried chicken area was putting a new batch of chicken in boxes. My husband and I stood there waited for her to acknowledge us. She looked at us and just kept working on her chickens. We waited and waited until she was done. At least she said have a good day when she was done with us. Then there was a guy with a giant floor sweeper charging down the aisles without saying a word like we were in his way. This has happened during other visits. They say nothing and just charge down the aisle. My son had to warn me one time. They are that silent! Now it's time to check out. The lines were long and slow. Each person had a cart full of food. We decided to use self check out. We scanned all of our stuff but the machine wanted someone to check the last item we scanned. So the giant light is blinking help me! Help me! The lady watching over the self checkout area is just staring off into space. I know she can see the light blinking we're only one machine away from her. My husband is done bagging our stuff. She's still staring off into space in OUR direction with a blinking light. Review for the deli... first of all, my family loves the chicken from vons. We probably get it two to three times a month when I'm struggling with time. This time I was not just struggling against time, I was also needing to feed 15 hungry teenage boys for a last minute team dinner. Tried calling Ralph's and when I couldn't get them to answer I drove out to Ralph's, because it is literally on the way. Nope, won't sell me 40 pieces of chicken (5 mixed fried packs) because they need 24 hr notice. So now I'm panicking jump in my car to drive across town to VONS. Trying to be proactive I call while on the way. A nice man answers and I ask if I can order 40 pieces of chicken, he says we only sell in 50-75 or 100 pieces. I ask if I can get 60 pieces for this afternoon. He said, "we have a policy of 24 hrs for that large of an order, but I really want to help you. Can you do half fried half baked?" The customer service here is either non-existent or it comes complete with a terrible attitude. I tried to go and pick up some sweet treats from their bakery and I was not only disgusted but I was really disappointed. I tried to talk to someone in the bakery about ordering a cake but they weren't all that helpful. They kept going on and on about how I need to get there earlier to talk to their bakers and how I'd need to talk to their decorators to try and describe what it is that I'd want on my desired cake. It was so difficult for me to communicate to the bakery staff that I'd like to leave my info, contact info, etc and ask that someone call me back. She kept on going around and around in circles telling me that she basically couldn't help me. I took a look at the cupcakes that were in the case, ready for pick up. One of the things that I first noticed was that lots of the bakery items were "out of code", meaning that they were expired in their sell by date. As it is, the cupcakes are usually made several days before you get to them. So, they'd been sitting for a week or longer. EWWWWWW! That's another reason that I didn't want to buy the already made cupcakes. I wanted to place a new order. I tried to pick up a slice of cake, one that we were considering getting for my lil one's bday party. We brought it home and minutes after we tried it. It was disgusting. Someone in the bakery had told us that the outside was butter cream. It definitely was NOT. It wasn't buttercream at all. It was strictly icing and it was nothing but gross. Not even my lil one wanted more than the initial lick that she took of it. The icing was absolutely disgusting. I felt like I was going to go into a diabetic coma immediately. I ended up taking the cakes back, the slice and the cupcakes that I'd purchased. it was all terrible. I was expecting so much more and so much more quality. They have removed the self checkout, which really annoys me when I come here during my lunch break to buy 2 items and they only have 2 registers opened with long ass lines or people with a cart load of items. Listening to the news, many chains are removing them because customers wanted an actual person. I get it, if you want a person, then they can use the cashier line. But why take away the self serve lanes for people that don't need the assistance? Their express line doesn't help because it's always busy at lunch. This review is for the Bakery. In store cake ordering was easy and inexpensive. I even called to make a couple of changes the next morning and that was easy as well. The cake was ready as promised however I just did not like the writing on the cake at all. There was no one to speak to in the Bakery Dept because I came a little late to pick up the cake. Everyone had gone home already and I needed the cake by the next morning so I had no choice to take it as is. The writing did not look pretty and neat. It looked like my 8 year old tested her cursive on the cake. I was really worried about how the writing would turn out when I placed the order with this Vons because I just ordered a cake the prior week from a different Vons and the writing was so pretty so I had the same expectation but I was definitely let down. It was to my surprise that the Pavilions has been changed to VONS. Yeah, sure, same company, same umbrella corporation but it's a different store. You may beg to differ just because the layout is so similar. Doesn't mean the aisles are the same or departments are in the same places. Where I found the Asian section was way in the back left corner of the store. Still a meat counter and a bakery with Panda Express inside with a deli for customers to walk up. Carts are brand new and better handling almost like a new car with new tires for the corners. New coat of paint, new sign and even new uniforms for the employees. I just wanna take home all the plants, lol! This review is for the floral department, the Tazo Tea selections and Gerber Baby Foods selections. Tazo Teas: They have a better and wider Tazo tea selection, especially, finding my two new loves: Chocolate Chai and Vanilla Caramel Chai teas. Great for a pick me up drink, post massage drink or especially, for the ladies when you're cramping - lol, sorry, but it really does soothe the cramps. I also love their other teas, but these two new ones are yummy treats without all the packed on calories, lol!!! Gerber Baby Foods: I grew up eating Gerber, and so it's a trusted baby food I get. They have a wider array of Gerber Baby Food selections here than Ralphs, which is perfect for feeding your babies or anyone having to eat a soft diet post surgery (like my Mom). My mom loves the Protein (Chicken, Beef, Turkey) with Veggies and Rice, Chicken Noodles, or the Applesauce ones. I like the Lil Entrees Graduates meal - they make for a decent break time food when you're not super hungry or working thru a project. You wouldn't think that a large chain grocery store would carry read-to-eat food that's worthy of Yelping. I stopped by Pavilions the other day and discovered otherwise. The Orzo Layered Salad is amazing! It's very satisfying at the price of $2.99. It has multiple layers of spinach, olives, sun dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, pine nuts, and crumbled feta cheese. The blend of these fresh ingredients are tantalizing to the senses. The balsamic vinaigrette dressing is in a separate package so you're in control of how much dressing there is. Do not let the small packaging mislead you. I poured it out into a small bowl and realized that there was a lot more than I had thought. The Orzo Layered Salad is at the deli section. Its broccoli crunch salad, also at the deli section, is also worth trying. This Pavilions occupies massive real estate with everything you expect in a grocery store and more. It also houses a Panda Express, Jamba Juice, Wells Fargo and Starbucks with plenty of seating area by Panda Express and Starbucks. The aisles are spacious so you don't have that "maximizing square footage" feeling. It also has Coinstar and a DVD kiosk. The Panda Express at this location commands a line, which I thought was odd since this is in Arcadia- a city renowned for plethora of Chinese restaurants. read more

Awful experience at this location. Two Hispanic gentlemen camping off to the side of the store. Throwing a beer bottle at a nearby parking spot and then going to the liquor section inside the store. They make no purchase. How do I know this? Because they're following me intermittently from aisle to aisle without any provocation. If I were a woman, I would be concerned for safety. I keep hoping it's going to get better (since I live so close), but instead it gets worse. And yes, the lines are long and the staff isn't the friendliest, but the worst part is all the expired food they have on their shelves. If you plan on shopping there, please double check the expiration dates! In the last 6 months, I've had to tell them about their expired macaroni salad 3 times! Sometimes, the mac salad they were selling was over a month old. This is true with all their food - yogurt, milk, bread, etc. And I just bought a loaf of bread with a tag saying it expires on May 24, and it's covered with mold! What is it with pharmacists? When I used to go to Walgreens on corner of Colorado and Sierra Madre in Pasadena, the pharmacist was always very unenergetic and unenthusiastic. The pharmacist I encountered here yesterday just seemed tired, unfriendly and didn't want to be there. I've had problems with this pharmacy and have lodged complaints on their website (but never heard back from even corporate). But, this is the most convenient location for me so I deal with it. I had a huge problem with them asking for my name and birthdate from the back counter. How is that discreet and "for your privacy"? So yesterday while I was picking up my prescription I asked the pharmacist if there was a lower-priced med option. He said "it depends on your insurance." A little confused by what he meant, he proceeded to "explain" to me: "if your insurance covered everything you would pay nothing/$0. But looks like your insurance covered a percentage of it."
