Be careful when you come here. The signs that they put up and advertise can be very misleading and confusing . As I was browsing the store, I walked to the frozen area where I saw some frozen salmon and fish fillets. Next to it had a sign that says $5 each when you purchase 4 or more; mix and match. No limit. Since it is so cheap and there was no regular price tag, I thought it will be a good idea to ask to make sure. So as I finished my shopping , I asked the cashier whether he can check the price for me to make sure. He just said I'm confused with an attitude and was irritated. He seems like he didn't want to work there and was very cranky. Didn't even have a smile. He didn't even ask if i wanted to buy a bag and charge me for the bag. I know 10 cent is not a lot but I have that option. Next time don't put the sign like that and remove the price tag. And be more specific. Check ur receipt before you walk out the door read more

I phoned customer service and they said that they had clipped all the coupons offered. They told me if I go to the store I could get what I had requested. I went to the store and was told that the offer had expired yesterday. Agent on the phone kept saying, "The person that you spoke to handled your concern." I told him that that was a lie. The person who handled my call lied to me to get me off the phone. She told me to go to the store and that I would get what I had wanted. Lie again. He then offered me a rain check. When I asked him if that would give me a discount at the register, he told me to pay for the product at the full price and that the rain check would be the difference. I told him I would not do that because the store lies to the customers. So, as of today, I am no longer shopping at VONS, SAFEWAY, PAVILLIONS, or ALBERTSONS. Good riddance to bad rubbish! read more

My wife and I have been going to this store for a good 30 years. We are both 84 years old and since I walk with a cane I usually just find a seat up front and wait for her to checkout. They had one or two beat up wooden chairs to sit on. Sometimes no chairs so I had to find a stack of something to sit on. The last two times I noticed that they got rid of those ugly chairs and got one nice one. Both times we shopped there's this week I couldn't sit down because one of the employees (I don't know his name but the one with the ahh rather huge stomach) was sitting there apparently on break. This last time, today, he seemed to be sleeping. So I am wondering, can't employees (at least this guy) use some kind of break room instead of taking up a chair for customers? I would appreciate it. read more

Haven't been to a Vons in a long time. Decided to go check out Vons after seeing a few deals online on their ad. This Vons was located on Naomi Ave in Arcadia and it next door to 99 Ranch and across from Aldi. That area is pretty much a good hub to do all your shopping at once. Vons has a pretty huge parking lot with plenty of spaces. It is also shared with other businesses such as Blaze Pizza and AU79. This Vons also allows you to order online for pick up as an added convenience. Shopping carts are now being sanitized by an employee at the door along with the limitation of the number of customers that can be inside the store. Practice social distancing guys! Upon entering Vons, it really gives me like a Whole Foods vibe, at least at this Vons. They have a bakery, hot foods and a mini olive bar. Everything is so neat and clean. Shelves are definitely fully stocked. However, all the items are placed in odd areas. Meaning refrigerated items are located several areas of the store instead of just one area. This layout makes you wander around the store; which I guess is their plan all along. I do have to warn you that the prices are not that competitive to other stores in the area. There's a Ralph's just a few miles away and an Aldi's across the street. The same exact brand and product may run $1 to $2 or more at Vons. If you are a budget shopper I recommend checking out their weekly ad first and downloading the app coupons. Definitely saves you a few cents to a few dollars on your shopping trip; otherwise, you'll be paying more. Of the few times that I went I found some pretty good deals on eggs for $0.69 a dozen and even pork ribs for $0.97 a pound. Perfect items for summer or home cooking. The hot foods area may tempt you as you walk around shopping. but I do not recommend getting rotisserie chicken. It's really dried out and the chickens are very small. I prefer the Costco ones over these. The breast meat on these chickens are so dry that it requires you to drink water to swallow the meat. Other than that, shopping here at Vons is no hassle. Make sure to create a Vons account and check out their weekly ads periodically. They also have self check out if you prefer no human interactions. read more

Vons has put up new gates at the entrances, presumably to corral exiters through the checkout areas. While I was in line to check out, an old Asian gentleman, confused at the new set up, pushed his way through the gate and an alarm went off. The woman working the register grumbled that it happens several times a day even though there's a sign on the gate that says "Exit Only" and the man she was ringing up snarked that even kindergartners know how to read- to which the Vons employee said about the old Asian man, "Oh, he didn't go to kindergarten that's for sure." Witnessing this type of intolerance from a neighborhood market is extremely disappointing. Firstly we live in an area with a high elderly population, so a quick adjustment to how a supermarket is set up is a silly expectation- the old man could have been a white retired English professor and the signage could have been in blinking neon and there still would have been confusion because Vons has been set up a certain way for decades and now is different. But what this moment was more about was casual racism. Just an ignorant flippant remark from one witless person to another- and shamefully one of those people was an employee of Vons. I don't need this in the times we live in. I don't need to experience such ugliness at my local shop. I'm just done with it. Do better Vons. Employ better people. read more

Due to COVID restrictions seemed like everyone was ordering takeout turkey meals...the restaurant I was going to order from sold out. Someone suggested the VONS deli so I gave it a try. There were actually quite a few people Thanksgiving morning. Despite having a few people in line the staff were still friendly at the deli and the checkout. Prices were reasonable and turned out tastes great! Got turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread deom the bakery and some creamed spinach from the fridge by the deli. No fuss...heat and serve. Tasted good! If in a bind for this coming Xmas or any future holidays this is not a bad alternative at all. read more

I don't know what's wrong with this Vons. It's not the supply chain issues I'm complaining about, they're just terrible with either storing their food properly, or getting rid of their bad produce. I've accidentally purchased expired goods and theres always some produce that's growing mold on it. Get. It. Together. This is not okay. I shouldn't have to check everything to make sure it's not rotten or moldy. Their gnocchi is always expired, and I've stopped buying strawberries from them because every time I pick up a box, I notice a fuzzy patch of mold growing. read more

So the three star Yelp average for this location is actually shocking. It should be at least 4 stars and based on our overall experience of shopping here for the past several years, we can honestly give it a 5. Most of the complaints seem to be about customer service and the cleanliness of the bathrooms. In our experinece, the people who work here are generally pretty nice and helpful. It is true that the deli section people are not that attentive at times and can be slow to help you. Furthermore, it is true that the toilets are usually not very clean and not in the best working condition. All that being said, if you just come here to pull groceries off the shelves and realize that clean toilets at supermarkets is somewhat of a recent phenomenon (they were always just a step up from gas stations when we were growing up), then you will have a great shopping experience here. The checkers are usually pretty nice and helpful. The store is usually stocked so that you can find what you are looking for. The week day people who work in the sushi place are really nice. The man who works in the sushi place on weekends is not nice, but we are not sure if these are Von's employees, they are probably subcontractors. There is a Starbucks and a Panda inside this market. The Panda usually gets really busy at lunch and dinner and there is a line, but the people who work there are nice. As a total experience and given the Asian dominated culture in San Gabriel with primarily Asian markets, this is probably the best American market in the area. The other American markets are not located in easy to get places, have too much traffic, poor parking, or have really bad customers that make us want to shop elsewhere. That's why overall this market should get 4-5 stars average. read more

THE YELP DETAILS ARE LYING! THERE IS NO BIKE PARKING! Been coming here since it was a Pavillions. I like coming here since it's clean, tidy, and the staff are efficient HOWEVER, there is no good parking. I don't mean for a car (parking lot's never more than half-full, anyways), but for bicycles. Some of your customers can't drive, can't afford to drive, are too young to drive, have a car in the shop, or don't drive for any number of reasons. The only dedicated bike parking in the ENTIRE block (not just this strip mall) is next to the LA Fitness across the parking lot. There is none in front of the Vons, which usually has at least one bike there at any time when the sun is up. The only places to lock up by the store are next to the fountain, where there is an empty spot (which leaves the handlebars stickning out perfect to hurt someone or scratch their car), the cart coralles (which often have home car blocked the sides), or the handrails of the two ramps at the front (which could mean blocking the handicap space if there's a wheelchair user who needs a van ramp, blocking the handrails for people of limited mobility). Can't even lock up using the handicap space signs because the sidewalk is so narrow. I'm still coming here for my shopping, but it's ridiculous that anyone who came by bike has to be an inconvenience to everyone else because this supermarket doesn't have parking facilities. Some of us may need easier access to the market. This is as ridiculous as if the Vons let EV drivers park ON the ramp. The Vons should tell the landlord to take out one or two parking spaces in the main parking area close to the store and put bike racks there. read more

Double check your receipts to make sure the items are charged correctly. After checking out, I saw many items didn't have mark down price as advertised on their weekly ads. I asked the cashier and was directed to customer service. The person at customer service started: "Did you scan your member card from the app? Many people come to do return because they didn't." Ok, so they assumed the customer was wrong #1. I've been using my phone number to check out at Vons, Albertsons, Pavilions, Safeway from Nor Cal to So Cal in the past 15 years without any problems. Why now you asked people to pull out the app? Are you trying to discriminate the ones who don't have a smart phone, can't use a smart phone, or don't download the app? Then the person scanned my digital card on the app, re-scanned all the items, but the price still didn't change. The person said: "did you clip the coupons?" I said "Yes". They asked: "Did you buy these items before?" I said: "No, this is my first shopping trip for this week. I only shop once a week." Then they said: "something is wrong with your account." So it looked like in their mind, the customer was wrong #2, #3, #4. Lol. The thing is, many stores would just adjust the price according to their ads, many coupons have unlimited use as well. But they made it hard for me so I decided to return the items and got my money back. I wasted 30 minutes there back and forth, in front of other customers, what an awful experience! Btw, I went to a different location, bought the same items, checked out with my phone number, and it worked like usual. So it's their particular store system that had problem, not the customers. Learn how to talk nicely to the customers, your job might be hard for you to handle but you get paid for it, the customers didn't. read more

I'm a regular at your store, but I'm close to switching my loyalty. Why? The consistent lack of service at your self-checkout counters, particularly from a female employee in her late 50s/early 60s who seems more interested in casual chatting than helping customers. Months of no greetings, no help with heavy items, just non-stop casual conversation with a bald head colleague, who works behind the desk by the main exit, while customers struggle. This isn't the friendly neighborhood vibe Von's promises. It's a letdown. Both employees are not suitable for customer service line of work. Do better, Von's. We expect more. Show us that you care about customer service as much as you say you do! read more

I can't believe I'm writing a review for a grocery store... but this Arcadia location has the worst cashiers. Their attitudes are bad and and they speak very rudely to you. This Vons is chill and quiet which is cool. I usually can find everything I need here however prices are a bit higher than most other grocery stores. If I am in the area and need something, I'll swing by but won't go out of my way to come here. Produce is fresh here and I like the deli section. This grocery store always make sure there's wipes, hand sanitizer, and carts available for their customers. Items are well stocked and cashiers work really fast here, always more than one cashier available. I enjoy shopping here but there is this one cashier/employee I wasn't so pleased with. He tells the customers "next time make sure to put the bar on the belt" with an attitude, when there was no one behind them. This is not something he should decide on, it is up to customer's decision to do so, especially during COVID. read more

I've had great interactions with these employees specifically and I think that they're extremely valuable to the company! I don't know everyone's names, but the whole staff there is friendly and helpful every time I'm there. This is one of my favorite Vons that I like to go to. I definitely have to give all the workers there such big kudos for staying so positive during this pandemic. During the several times I've been there the past 6 months, their managers do try to make things as smooth as possible despite the crowd getting aggressive waiting to get in, and they inform customers promptly if they are not wearing their masks correctly and not properly social distancing themselves. Their shelves are usually pretty stocked well. There have been times where a deal should've scanned through, but maybe there was a glitch in the system, and the associates know how to take care of you and fix it quickly. The front line associates and managers always have a smile on their face. I really appreciate all the associates at this Vons so much! Thank you for your diligence! read more

Multiple times Karen H. has been very condescending in the self checkout line. You'd think someone in her position would have better customer service etiquette. To Karen, simple solutions, like typing in a code, is part of your everyday responsibility. Your hatred towards your job, though understandable, should not be taken out on the customers. Doing a quick look-through on yelp, it looks like someone of your description has done this multiple times to different people. They didn't put your name though, so I thought I'd do the everyone the favor. I also echo the other reviews about expired products and quality control. I've seen too many expired products as well as food items with broken seals. To the managerial staff, please do better. read more

What impressive about this particular Vons is that their fresh produce section is at the front of the store. Most and any other store would have them at the far side or even at the back of the store. So, when I come it, it just feels nice, healthy and open - it doesnt feel crowded at all. I have been coming in to this store for about a 3 years now, and a lot has changed. I love that they accept google and apple pay. You can also use those means to pay for your orders at their in-house Jamba Juice and Starbucks. PROTIP: you can pay for your groceries from these outlets, too. The only one disappointing thing they did which i had wished they kept were the self check out counters; because most of the time, i just go in for 1 or 2 things, and i didnt have to wait in like to pay. These supposed express checkout lanes that replaced the self checkout counters are empty most of the time, and it appears that its just a place to keep returned items to be placed at the end of the day. So, what should just be a quick pick up, becomes several minutes waiting in line at a counter for someone to finish counting change to pay in exact amount. Other than that, the manager is very friendly when i had inquired about a favorite drink they havent restocked - they restocked it!! - and it sells out fast. - they however havent been restocking or having the party tray mini rolls or the croissants anymore, which is my most frequent buy from there a couple years back, but still - their fresh items are great, and its conveniently surrounded by other shops where you can eat, drink or shop at while a friend or family member is restocking your home's supplies. - they brought back the self check out counters!! but they also dont have Jamba Juice anymore :( read more

Yesterday, while purchasing supplies at Vons on 1/15/25 early morning , I accidentally left one of my items at the self-checkout my fault . I needed to return on1/16/25 to pick up other items and the forgotten item. I explained the situation to the gentleman that knows his customers working there and he kindly assisted me in obtaining the missing item, an antibiotic cream. By the time I reached the self checkout after gathering the items I needed for today, the helpful gentleman was already gone. Instead, at around 5pm or so on1/16/25 I was met with an unhelpful and unpleasant woman who was condescending point of being hostile borderline racist and showed no interest in assisting me. When I requested to speak with the manager on duty, the manager offered to check the security camera footage Unfortunately, I could not wait, even though the highly skilled helpful manager assured me it would only take a few minutes. Clearly, by the terrible reviews, you can see how awful this market is. I came to the market and purchased medicine and didn't realize till I got in the car that instead of day and night I did not purchase the night medication, quickly went back less than five minutes. I asked one of their team members if he could help me as I just needed to switch it out for the nighttime one. He proceeded to point me towards a manager in the middle of the market and tell me to go to ask him for help, which was kind of ridiculous. Then I go to the manager and ask him for help and he tells me to go stand in line behind about 10 people, food baskets full of food and walks away. His name is Francisco. I highly suggest if you don't want to go out of business like most market have since Covid that you get a new manager and teach your team members had her better customer service. read more

I went to Vons Arcadia on Naomi. Cherries were advertised for $1.88 a pound with a 6 pound maximum. You had to register your cell phone with Vons thru just4u. So I did. When I arrived I asked an employee how to use the app. He told me I was registered the online coupon active and all I had to do was punch in my phone number associated with the app and I would receive the discount. I shopped buying 3 bags of cherries. An employee said they were 2. Pound bags and I did not find a scale so I took him for his word. They do not sell loose cherries. I paid my bill walked to the exit and saw they are charging me $3.99 a pound. I turn around and ask the cashier about this and he says see customer service. So I go wait in line and speak to a lady with a tattoo on her neck. She looks and said that I did not have the coupon and my phone was not registered. I show her my phone with the nonsense just4u coupon. She then said I bought more than 6 pounds and it bumped the price up automatically to $3.99 a pound. She showed me the weight I was billed for each bag of cherries. I then pointed out the cherries are sold in 2 pound bags and there is no scale to weigh them on. I then asked if customers are supposed to remove cherries from bags and put them in other she bags and she said no. The lady said she would have to see her manager to figure this out. She left returned then returned after a few minutes and said she would give me a refund and re bill me the correct price for the cherries. I received my refund and after waiting 10 minutes to pay for my cherries I told the lady I was done and left. Vons. You should do something about this. I won't be going back and will be letting others know about this scam. Are you going to change? This whole just4u cell phone app thing is a scam. Anytime you try to use it it does not work. If vons wants customers they need to treat their customers right. If I was a guy without a smart phone and holding out your ad paying cash I would be screwed. I would not be able to get this deal with cash. You are screwing old people on fixed incomes. This is borderline bait and switch. How about a response? The customer service particularly in the deli department is rude and condescending. Let me describe her to you: heavy built, reddish hair, tied in a bun with a mean face. She works Sunday morning hours at 8:30 or so. We asked if they had any chicken wings and she rudely replied "WE DO, BUT THEY ARE NOT READY YET", as if what we asked was a dumb question. I didn't used to be a fan of Pavilions, only because I thought they priced their items too high and I could always get a better deal from Ralphs. That is not the case, I realized, after seeing that they have a lot of items go on-sale at a very very good price, especially if you use their on-line mobile app coupon clipping device thing. Be sure to take advantage of their personalized for U deals. This Pavilions has a Starbucks, Jamba Juice and a Panda Express inside. They have a sushi/fish station, a bakery, a Wells Fargo, a Pharmacy, and even lots of flowers. I think you can get almost everything you need here and more. And it isn't too big that you have to walk around a whole Costco-sized warehouse. Lots of items, random items on sale (isn't it great when an item you specifically need and want is on sale and you didn't even know about it until you got to the aisle?!) ... and they have a Redbox and self-serve check-outs. I believe they also have their buy 9 get 1 free or so rewards program for Starbucks and for Jamba Juice, which is really convenient. What's even greater is that they are undergoing/have undergone remodeling and now most of the store has hardwood flooring. Their Starbucks is renovated and has more chairs and tables.
