I have moved to a state that Von Maur isn't even located in, but with the amazing staff in ALL departments I still call in and order online. But this shout out is specifically for Zoe in Clinique because I still get my essentials and she knows all my favorites and color likes. I get calls for all promotions and bonus times which I love and regardless of how busy she is in store I hear the smile and patience while I give her my order and ask questions. Even when you call in there's an operator who politely transfers your calls, which is so personal. I miss the piano, but customer service from thousands of miles away is top notch. Every time I've been in the store, I'm shocked at how huge it is! It is well staffed, with knowledgeable employees in each specified area. There are signs throughout, so it is relatively easy to find the area you are hoping to shop in. Each time I've come to search for something, I have not had any luck. The main reasons I have not bought anything here are either of it. Nothing fits my frame/style (This store is much more geared towards women than juniors, and business/cocktail attire than anything casual), and that the price point is high above competitors I shop at. Overall, I do not think I am their target market, but I am shocked that people come in and spend what they do for items you can get cheaper elsewhere. Probably just a matter of opinion, but I do not frequent this store often for that reason. I do know a lot of friends who get great deals with within the shoe clearance area -- this seems to be what they're known for! I looked around, and did see some decent deals, but nothing that I needed. Overall, I would come back here to shop at the shoe clearance, but probably nothing else. read more

I was raised a Von Maur shopper and am still one. I've joked I should be a paid advertiser for them because I've also made lots of others VM shoppers :-) The selection is great, but the deals are better. Finding things on 3rd or better markdown is such a rush, and finding out how to get the best deals there is even more fun. Growing up, all our nice clothes were from there and I've passed that along to my niece now, the children's clothes on markdown is such a great deal. Great quality for a better price. The shoe closet is one of the best places to find good deals on shoes, or you can splurge and get something on the floor if you want a bigger variety. A couple other perks, free gift wrapping, free shipping for cardholders, 0% interest credit card, and free tailoring. I get most gifts for people from VM, especially baby and wedding gifts. The service is great, it's commission based, so make sure that whoever helps you is also the person who rings you up. Growing up, my dad got to know all the guys in suiting so they'd even call to tell him when something was marked down. Von Maur gives the luxury experience that makes me want to return time and time again, regardless of if I need anything or not. The peaceful, classy ambience complete with a live pianist playing in the background truly puts your shopping experience over the top here. It is rare that I shop in person without something specific I need, and I find myself in Von Maur often simply to enjoy browsing and seeing their wide and varied selection. The store has just about everything, and the store shopper has an excellent eye because some of the best brands are here and available! I also love their makeup counters, especially the Chanel location, which has most of their popular products to examine and test in person. The prices range here, and I have been able to find outfits very affordably, that still look expensive and upscale. Their gift selection is amazing as well, and their gift wrap option is very convenient. Stopping in for some retail therapy! Located in the Westroads shopping mall, there is plenty of parking available for easy access. It's been years since I did any serious clothes shopping. Work from home in sweatsuits and retirement resulted in purge of dozens of business suits! Von Maur is a relaxing way to find really great quality clothing. Many brand name, designer clothing lines are available. I always hit the sales rack to find great deals and end up lucking out every time. This is also a serious destination for anyone that needs clothes for weddings, cocktail, parties, etc. In addition to a wonderful selection of women's clothing, there is wonderful shoe area that offers a wide variety and the opportunity to try them on to check for comfort. While the Internet can offer convenience, it does not always offer comfort! The staff is very helpful and will even assist in setting up dressing rooms so you can continue to shop without trying to haul clothing around the store! The store is kept exceptionally clean and organized. It's just a relaxing place to shop and peaceful. Love stopping into Von Maur, it's really a time capsule for what I remember mall shopping to be. The carpet and the opulent fixtures, lighting, and of course the piano, all are reminiscent of my childhood. It's always been our "fancy" department store, as we don't have a Nordstrom, or Saks, but we have Von Maur. From shoes, (and their sale shoe closet) to high end brands on the second floor, and juniors on the bottom by the beauty counters, it's a once stop shop. I am a bargin finder so I love sifting through the juniors sale items. You can also find cute and trendy Husker gear. The sales staff is very friendly and attentive as well. read more

I keep getting told to keep coming back in and they will have it, but that just seems to be a lie, to ensure they get their commission. Von Maur is my favorite department store. As far as Men's clothing goes they have the best selections and brands of all the chain stores. The Credit from Von Maur is fabulous. No interest ever. I have stopped into Von Maurs all over the country while traveling and love them all and the great credit options. Omaha has a smaller but decent selection of some great designers Von Maur sources. The sales staff are always friendly and very knowledgeable on what they have and current sales. This Westroads store frequently has some great Bugatchi sales, and is the only other store in Omaha besides Lindley to carry Robert Graham I wish they would have a few more RG selections. but I do understand the Omaha Market is not really fully in style. While there are still departments that reflect the care and considerate attitude we found in the past, customer service is not one of them! The women's intimates still has good service. I won't be going back to find good shoes there because the customer service made it very difficult to return them. This used to be a fine store hallmarked by their customer service. It's still fancy and staged nicely. But those in management are rude. We tried to return a pair of shoes that were damaged and sent to us. The name brand had changed one of their shoe brands by making a cheaper shoe that had absolutely no resemblance to the original brand. Much like New Balance did with their tennis shoes - these shoes were really not good for anybody's feet. Yet, the lady at customer service continued to defend false policies which were different from other Von Mauer stores and tried to blame me. We called several other stores who said that "damaged goods" could be returned. This Omaha Store did not care a hoot!!. So different from the concept began in 1800 in Davenport,, iowa. read more

This review won't matter and my decision to quit shopping there won't matter but I wanted to share my experience for others. I find that if you appear younger and aren't dressed a certain way, you won't receive good customer service. It's as if they don't believe you can afford to shop there or something. I've had multiple issues and experiences with this in nearly every department but my main frustration is with the children, shoe, children shoe departments. Same ladies are usually working and I always receive the same type of service. The service is so poor And judgement is so poor I nearly told her at the register forget it, I'd go purchase my items elsewhere. Though I only shop here very occasionally visit this store when I am at the Mall. They have a great selection of merchandise from shoes, bags, to apparel. I just visited this department store yesterday and was full of excitement to see all the Christmas decorations already! Even though it's early it made me feel festive and excited for the Christmas season! I specifically went to Von Maur to try on a pair of boots I had seen my friend wearing and they were just lovely! There were two associates that acknowledged us while we were perusing the shoes, a male associate and Amy (she brought out the boots for me). It was a bit busy but we were there for a while looking at different boots, brands, and the sale section. I was a bit disappointed that the other associates didn't at least greet us. We went up to the third floor to check out the baby stuff and the lady who helped us was really sweet and nice! It makes shopping for children even more fun than it already is :) Down to more important matters...the bathroom. This was the first time I used Von Maur's bathroom and I'm so happy I finally did! It reminded me of neiman marcus' bathroom back home in Hawai'i. There's a women's lounge on the third floor with an area for mom's to change their babies diapers and a rocking chair! How cute is that? The bathroom is through a separate door and the stalls are individually enclosed which is nice. Overall, I love this department store. I highly suggest heading over when they have sales because you can get some really great deals on some quality merchandise. read more

I would have loved to bought a Tory Burch bag from this store, but being circled around by sharks and constantly questioned didn't help. I know you old ladies work off of commission but it seemed more like racially profiling me based off the idea that you didn't do it to the ladies next to me. This is the best department store in Omaha, IMO. Yes it is higher end, but they have tons of legit sale racks filled with great stuff. You can find awesome deals if you really look... for example, I once found a $100 shirt for $4. Cheaper than Wal-Mart prices! The shoe sale room is insane. You have to be patient looking through all the shoes, but they have a lot of shoes on sale. The employees are very polite and friendly. Another plus is they always offer free gift wrapping, free shipping, hassle-free returns and an interest-free credit card. If you need alterations, they either do it for free or for a small fee depending on what you need done. You can't find better service! read more

I've always parked at Von Maur when I go to Westroads--can pretty consistently get a decent spot, it's close to Old Navy and food, we can hit the nice bathroom on the way in or out if needed... Von Maur/the piano player are a really nostalgic experience for me, I've been coming here since the store was built when I was a kid. My sisters and I watched A Goofy Movie umpteen times in the kids' section upstairs. I do have to say, as an adult, I've kind of had the same "Pretty Woman" treatment other reviewers have mentioned. I needed a formal dress when I was pregnant and didn't want a frumpy maternity tent so I was just sizing up in the regular dresses and they acted like I was wiping my ass with them. The service is the kid's department on the third floor is always decent, lightyears ahead of the other departments. They were understaffed in the shoe section and the lady was helping two or three other people but she was making an effort to help me. I couldn't drag my kids away from their train table to save my life, never mind that we have one at home. There's a great selection of shoes that one can't typically find in other stores in Omaha--I'm so glad they carry Mini Melissa shoes, I was holding off ordering them online because I wasn't sure how they fit, and it turns out their sizing is pretty wonky. Their womens bathroom on the 3rd floor is the place to be. Couches, comfy nursing room with a real changing table, the bathroom itself is huge and I like that the stall doors go to the floor. Granted, when Westroads put in the play area by Dick's, they also put in a really nice family bathroom area with a private nursing room and a sitting area with sofas, but Von Maur used to be the only decent mall bathroom. Also, I used to get all my homecoming and prom dresses here in high school because my mom had their interest-free store credit card. I still gaze wistfully at the prom dresses whenever we walk by. read more

WE always enjoy shopping at VM even if is a bit expensive by Omaha standards. I would have given them 4 stars but the gift wrapping process was awful. There on a Wednesday, mid day, so there weren't many shoppers. We had two packages and were told that it would take 20 minutes by the unfriendly guy behind the Customer Service counter. My wife continued to shop and at 30 minutes I reminder about the packages. She went back to the counter to find that even though they were completed packages that came in after us, ours were not ready. His comment, was well there done now. I bought a blouse that was marked down on the tag. I was charged for the full amount and not the marked down price. I didn't catch this until after I got home. I went back, waited some time for a manager, showed her the receipt and tag. She hesitatingly "gave me a refund to my card". She then kept the receipt and tag. Several weeks later I checked my account to see that I was never refunded. I took time out to return to the store to take care of this error on their part. This is a disappointment and a waste of my time. I won't shop there anymore as they didn't do what was right. And this wasn't a cheap mistake to write off in my book. read more

I always shop here whenever I visit my parents! Wow today I bought two great dresses and two pairs of pants from the petite dept and received terrific service. Next I bought a fabulous purse and the sales lady was most helpful! Last I stopped in the shoe department on the second floor! Shoes are my weakness! Von Maur has a huge selection of shoes from super casual, workout athletic shoes, everyday shoes and sandals and evening shoes too! I bought a comfy ECCO brand boot style shoe to wear with pants and a sexy black high heel Anne Klein zip up the front "fun" sandal. Again I LOVE this store and I always find tons of stuff to buy! They have a wonderful Laura Mercier counter in cosmetics and my mom and I are both loyal shoppers to their fragrance area... All the ladies over here are fantastic. The Christmas decor is beautiful, the credit card is amazing (interest free!!!) and they do lovely gift wrap for free. Von Maur is one of the higher end retail stores that you're going to find in Nebraska. If you want to find nicer dress clothes, this is one of the few places that you can go. It is an excellent choice, however. Their selection is always good and timely. The midwest has a pattern of being several months behind any new fashion trend but Von Maur tends to stay up to speed very well, offering items that are ahead of the curve for the region. Service is excellent. I don't know for sure, but I think that the staff is commission-based, but they're never pushy. A simple "just looking" is good enough to get you left alone, however, if you require assistance, they are happy to help. Now for money stuff. Despite the fact that their clothing and housewares tend toward higher end, they have excellent sales. Every time I go back to visit I make sure to swing by their clearance sections. Since this isn't as large of a chain as a Nordstrom or Macy's, they don't have an established outlet or clearance venture. When they want to get rid of stuff, they simply mark it way down. It's not uncommon to find items at 75% off. On my most recent trip, I picked up a Boss dress shirt and Calvin Klein tie. Normal retail price: $150. I paid: $37. Pretty sweet. To boot, they have a completely interest free store credit card. All you have to do is pay the minimum balance. I've never seen a better deal anywhere. The only knocks that I would have against this place are the price and that close parking can be a commodity (there's always a place to park, but you may have to walk). If you're in Omaha and in need of some new body coverings, this is your place. read more

Von Maur has one of the best shoe departments in Omaha and the shoe room, is awesome. You have to hunt to find some good deals but I usually always find something there. One thing I never knew or I guess paid attention to is the women's lounge. Since I recently just had a baby I had to use the lounge there. They have two nice changing tables with sinks to wash your hands after wards. They also have diapers for purchase. I was really impressed. read more

When I walk into Von Maur I have to limit the amount of time spent here. I will explore the shoe section, purse section, makeup section and juniors section for hours on end if I'm allowed. Collecting numerous purchases along the way! The hidden gem in this store that sucks up my time is the clearance sections! The amount of savings you can get on these racks are astounding! What really keeps me motivated to keep looking through these endless racks is the lovely piano music playing in the background continuously.
