At the beginning of my new car search, I made an appointment for a Saturday morning test drive. Everyone was friendly when I arrived. They offered me coffee/water. The facility is clean. Within about ten minutes of my appointment time, I met Kofi and he went with me to drive two electric cars. Can't say enough good things about him. Very knowledgeable about the cars, the market and available incentives (I didn't realize just currently owning a Volvo entitled me to significant cash off). Kofi is a former civil servant who just seems like a genuinely good human. He didn't pressure me at all, but was very responsive to all questions and followed up by email later with pricing, which is what I wanted. The manager also checked on me while I was there, in a nice way. I was out the door in about 90 minutes after driving two cars. While I ended up choosing another dealer based on the immediate availability of the car I wanted, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this dealer to anyone. read more

They submitted the license and tax fess late to Illinois, where I live, and I sent a penalty notice for the late payment. In contacting Noah, the GM, he indicated that the dealership takes no responsibility for the late payment. In essence, the dealership used the tax money for 45 days prior to submitting it. read more

My experience was not good. A diagnosis was performed on my car and they never told me that I was in need of transmission repair. I found out later when I tried to use my car warranty I was denied my claim because of pre-existing transmission issues. I talked to Justin Menzes and he told me that there has never been any transmission issues and that he would got to bat for me he would contact my warranty company.but never did. Upon entering. You're greeted by the secretary in the front lobby. The car lot was filled with cars since there IS NO CAR SHORTAGE anymore. They had the AC on so ventilation was very good. Fresh & free flowing air. After asking the secretary about a car they had on the lot. She directed me to a salesperson. After discussing the car which was a Chevy Bolt they had preowned on the lot. We went outside to inspect the car. Upon inspecting the car prior to the test drive. I could tell the car had a very heavy amount of wear & tear on it despite having low miles on it. The sales guy then tried to say the vehicle was inspected through our very thorough inspection process which is really nothing more then a "Marketing Gimmick". Upon starting the car. Various lights came on such as the tire light indicating the back tire very low on air. The sales guy didn't have anything to say after the dash warning lights came on since he was caught in a lie about the inspection process. The car was also very dirty which means they didn't even vacuum the car and most likely told their mechanic to sign off on the state inspection without actually inspecting the car. This was verified upon discovering the charging port was cracked on the car which is a major fire hazard since if it rains and the charging port is cracked. Water will get into electrical components to which water and very high voltage electricity doesn't mix. **SEE PICS**. Before I test drive any car I prefer to talk numbers first to determine if it's a waste of time. After going back inside and discussing numbers. They weren't very negotiable on a car with two open recalls on it. One of the recalls indicating the car might blow up or catch fire at anytime during charging but yet they want almost full asking price which is way overpriced to begin with for a car with two open recalls. They tried to say JD power and everyone has the car value high which is a boatload of crap. After pulling up KBB which is owned by Cox Automotive MYSELF. The car values were way different which would indicate someone is most likely editing the values on the print out prior to bringing it to the customer. After asking the sales guy these approximate words "You want me to pay almost full asking price for a car that might blow up tonight". He almost died laughing.... At this point the sales manager comes over and says we can take $500 off but we have a $500 doc fee which is nothing more then pure profit for the dealership. It's also the maximum allowed by Maryland law. They tried to say the fee pays for the person to go down to the MVA and file your paperwork for your new car which is also nothing more then a boatload of crap too. Everything is done ELECTRONICALLY. Research "Maryland's Paperwork Reduction Act". Also they inflated MVA's pricing of tag & titling. After notifying them in Maryland it's $100 for a title & $135 to register a car for two years. They then resorted to pulling the information grab trick which is when you overpay now then you'll get a check in the mail once the intentional error is discovered. When In reality this is a known method to get your account numbers once you cash the check. So they can further market to you based on which bank you use. DON'T FALL FOR IT. Registration fees are listed clear as day on MVA's website. After discovering the negotiation was a waste of time plus learning about the cracked charging port. I asked about their new electric cars to which they replied all had markups from 5k+ to which I didn't even bother since I know "Market Adjustments" are the biggest scam fees in the world. At this point I just left. The next few days I would get constant calls and e-mails saying are you still interested in the car to which I had already said No. But the junk mail kept coming.... Lol. Overall not a very good experience. Since buying a new car almost every other year previously at other dealerships. I learned overtime regarding buying cars. This dealership has a lot of red flags to which I don't think I would ever buy a car from them since they're cutting corners most likely in the inspection process as well as inflating numerous numbers & selling dangerous cars. This review is for this dealership alone and is not a review on the quality of Volvo cars. Bottom Line Up Front: The Volvo of Silver Spring will do everything in their power to keep your money, even when they are not legally allowed do so, and they have no problem lying to you about it. Hard hard pass. What happened? I placed a fully refundable $500 reservation deposit on an upcoming MY '25 Volvo not yet sold in the US back in December 2023 (an EX30 for those curious). Fast forward to early April 2024, and I wound up purchasing a different vehicle from a different auto manufacturer (an Ioniq 5 for those curious), so I reached out to cancel my order and receive my refund. It took the Silver Spring dealership 3 weeks to initially respond to my request, but they said they cancelled the order and would issue the refund on April 18th. I don't want to spoil it for you, but they didn't cancel the order or issue me a refund on April 18th, nor on April 30th, nor on May 15th, nor on May 17th. Each of those times, and only after increasingly persistent, calls, emails, and texts on my end, did various managers swear up and down that the refund was "in process" and "it should hit your account any day now." In other words, the modern version of "the check is in the mail." No check or refund was in the mail, electronic or otherwise. I had to get Volvo USA involved to force the dealership to refund the $500 deposit. I called Volvo USA on May 22nd, where they opened up a case claim on my behalf and started an investigation. I know this will come as a huge surprise to everyone reading this #sarcasim, but it was only after VOLVO HQ started an investigation and forced the dealership to do what they are legally required to do was I finally issued my refund on that same day: May 22nd. Which was a full month after the Silver Spring dealership told me they had issued the refund. Uh huh. As customers spending tens of thousands of dollars on what are essentially luxury goods, we deserve a heckuva lot better than this kind of stereotypical slimy car dealers BS. But save yourself my headache and simply go to a different Volvo dealership next time you're in the market for a Volvo. I know I will. read more

I purchased a lovely car 2019 xc 60 60,000 miles - appeared clean lovely - had a extra warranty and appeared super clean - hidden issues NOT GOOD - hid something critical to me - they hide cosmetic issues - super clean - seatbelt pieces missing and an entire something spilled under plastic and paper floor covers- the car stinks on warm days - the carpet was hard - Hidden - not quality control or inspection well - I've been back multiple times. It's a 30 minute drive each way and I still have issues. The manager refuses to get me a price to put in new carpet which I've asked for. WRONG. There are never any loaner cars available. And any time you call to speak to anyone there for any reason whatsoever, you will fail. They don't care about their customers enough to actually pick up any of their calls. And if you leave a message - do not expect to ever get a call back. BEWARE OF UNNECESSARY RECOMMENDED REPAIRS! Service department is UNETHICAL. Took my car in for noise from engine. $4000 later picked up car. Afterwards, when starting car noticed a whining noise and delay in engine turning over so took car back. Was told the original issue (which had absolutely no association with the starter motor) "may have caused the starter motor to go bad". Got a call, service "advisor" said "yep, we hear the whining noise, starter motor is going bad." $900 to replace. I said No! Went to pick up my car, same advisor told me when i was picking up my car that they "took another look at it and it wasn't making the noise anymore." Hmm...... really, what prompted them "taking another look?" Maybe because there was absolutely nothing wrong with the starter motor and if I took it for another opinion that would have been discovered? I drove the car for another year and never had an issue starting the vehicle. A year later I did have an issue with the cooling fan not turning off and draining the battery. Was told it was an $1100 repair because it was all one unit and the inexpensive part that was the issue couldn't be replaced by itself. Picked up the vehicle. They replaced 2 separate components each ~$500. No reason to replace the actual $500 fan as it was working fine. I've owned 2 Volvo SUV's I understand they are VERY expensive to maintain but what I can not accept is being lied to by unscrupulous Heritage service department. Service manager is a "nice guy" but clearly condones this business practice. Got rid of the car. And the women who responds to reviews as the "owner"?? can not waste her time responding as I've made my dissatisfaction known to you service manager and only received more excuses such as "it used to come as one component, didn't know it's now 2 separate parts until after it was installed". Seriously, isn't it your job to know that, or perhaps when you ordered the part you didn't see only 1 of the components was needed to fix the issue. So dishonest! read more

Emergency visit ..... When in route from Albany, NY to Florida, I struck some debris on the highway and caused damage to my vehicle. Fortunately, I was able to drive the vehicle to perhaps, the best VOLVO dealership I have encountered. I limped my 2019 Volvo S60 into the dealership and was met by Tanner Wrublik of the service department. After explaining my situation , Tanner ensured me he would get my vehicle in promptly (without an appointment) and hopefully facilitate quick repairs and get me on my way. The car went right into the shop and the damages were assessed. In no time at all, I was furnished with a video assessment/estimate of the damages. Unfortunately, my worst fears were imagined and my vehicle suffered catastrophic damages. Tanner continued to ensure me that he would assist me in anyway possible, seemed hopeful repairs could be made, and indicated he would do everything possible to work with the insurance company to get the vehicle fixed. Tanner facilitated a ride for me to a local car rental, I returned to transfer my luggage, etc. and was on my way to Florida in just an hour or two. Tanner was the ultimate professional, treated me like a life long customer, and it truly made a difficult situation palatable. Additionally, he indicated if my insurance company handled the situation quickly, it was likely my vehicle would be repaired by my return trip to NY. An insurance claim was submitted, an even though the dealership submitted a comprehensive video of the damages, the insurance claim required photographs of these damages. Consequently, I called the dealership to talk to Tanner about the same, was informed he was off that day, but was instructed to email Tanner and the service manager would be forwarded the email to address the issue. Service Manager Joe Devlin was a pleasure to deal with. Without hesitation, he promptly took a plethora of photographs of the damages, forwarded to my adjuster, and facilitated everything quickly and professionally even though such responsibilities clearly should not fall on the dealership. Mr. Devlin contacted me via directly and via email as well and ensured me if anything was needed they would work hard to make it happen. Again, I was treated as a lifelong customer not just a guy that walked into the dealership for the first time with a significant problem. Despite the excellent service I received from Tanner, Joe and everyone at Volvo of Silver Spring, my vehicle was deemed a total loss. Consequently, I knew I would have to return to the dealership on my way home to retrieve my license plates and some personal items for the vehicle. Tanner arranged with my insurance company to delay the towing of the vehicle for a couple of days, so I could stop at the dealership on my way home to get my belongings. Tanner arranged for my plates to be removed and place in the trunk of the car and made the vehicle accessible even though I would be arriving at the dealership after normal business hours. Tanner, Joe and everyone at Volvo of Silver Spring were professional, treated me as a valued customer, and should be considered, the model for VOLVO dealerships. I wish I lived closer, as I would definitely purchase and service my next vehicle from them. read more

This company sells lemon cars, buyer beware. I recently purchased a $18k vehicle from this company only to have the transmission go bad within less than 1,700 miles which was less than 2 months. I contacted the salesperson Kirk Daniels and his leadership team and asked them how this could have happened so fast, and that they had knowledge of the problem nothing could happen to a reputable vehicle that soon if was inspected properly. The leadership did not care, I took the car into service and the service manager mentioned I don't know what's wrong with your vehicle but you can still drive it. I reached out to Mile One HQ for one of the CEOs there and left him a message 2-3 weeks ago and he never responded. DON'T purchase a car from this place they sell lemon cars. read more

For such a great product the service of the body shop in Silver Spring MD is very poor. I have been waiting for the manager to return my call since November 19th. My car was there for a small dent on drivers door and wheel repair, from the 9th to the 20th of November and it was still not complete. Lots of excuses. I called the dealership to have an appointment scheduled. The representative choose a date and time for service. I confirmed 7:45 am was fine and stated I would be waiting for my vehicle, as I had arrangements for the evening. Explicitly asked would that be okay and it was confirmed okay, and would not be an issue. The shop had my vehicle from 7:45am to 2:00pm and never even touched the car! After 6 hours of waiting and asking for more assistance to no avail, I decided to leave. They offered zero apology; furthermore, they explained that decided to wait on other people's cars first because they sat inside the showroom and waited. Let's forbid the customer to leave the showroom during their service. The only way they will service your vehicle is if you're sitting in front of them doesn't matter what your appointment time is. Wasted my gas, my money, and most importantly my time. Hopefully this helps another fellow Volvo owner, save the frustration and get serviced elsewhere. Here's what you need to know about the used car operations at Herb Gordon Volvo. 1) Prices are competitive. 2) Prices are competitive for a reason. 3) Those reasons range from the following: car has dents, scratches over four inches long, makes very loud noises on the road, brakes don't function properly. We came here to view a 2013 Hyundai Sonata we saw online that we ended up not liking so much in person. One being the fact that the interior was extremely worn and the car made a weird knocking noise while driving that we were assured was "normal" because it was "up on a hill and hadn't been driven much". Hmm, yeah, thanks but no thanks. Our sales guy offered to take us across the street to Herb Gordon Nissan where they had a larger selection of cars. I was shocked to see a 2010 Camry on the lot with a huge dent on the front. Couldn't believe any dealership would sell a dented car, no matter what the price. But anyhow... We saw, liked and test drove a 2014 Nissan Sentra that was priced around $13,000 with 22K miles, but in what appeared to be typical Herb Gordon fashion for the day, the car made a very noticeable knocking noise that even the salesman couldn't ignore. We were told it would be taken into Nissan for a fix and we could come back for the purchase. So my mom comes back to finalize the purchase and guess what...the car has now jumped up over $3,000. Bait and switch game, huh? What's worse is that the salesman tried to play it off like the price increase would be OK. Yeah, um we said what we planned to pay...how do you think that'll change just because YOU decided to change the sticker price? I understand Herb Gordon seems to be a pretty decent sales group, but the fact that the two cars we test drove had issues was disturbing. Are these cars even going through inspection? Hmmm. Glad we didn't go through with the deal! I would NOT want a car from people that have half broken cars on the lot. read more

I've been coming here to get my cars serviced since 1999. I've made it a point to always go to the sales side and look at the new Volvo's. Since 1999, I've never been asked if I needed any help. I really don't understand that. They are sales people. They don't look up from their computers. They aren't on the phone, and they never ever recognize me as a possible customer. If the service department was so good I'd never come back here. That is the number one reason I've never purchased a car from This Volvo dealer. I'm not one to use race as a reason, but, a white customer was also looking at cars and was helped immediately. Well, Volvo Dealership, recognize all of your customers. You never know who's who. 8/21/18 Another trip to Herb Gordon Volvo to have my car serviced. I again went over to the new car section and looked at each new vehicle. There were 2 gentlemen on their computers. Neither one of them asked me if I needed any help. I walked by the young lady at the desk twice. I was asked if I needed any help. I've decided to do this every time I'm at Volvo. Nothing appears to change for the better. I've been bring my cars to your dealership since 1999, and it's strange I can't get any help. That's the main reason I've never bought a car from this location. The service department is the best. Jose has been the best since my first visit. Had excellent experience here. Service department was great, especially the service writer: Paris. He was expert at parsing the expenses of repairs I needed. I could then-see easily---it made most sense to get it done all at once to spare another repair trip. Herb Gordon location is in an auto park. Public transportation for a return trip home is out, you'll need a ride home. They no longer have shuttle service to Metro. I was offered a loaner car which I deemed overly-ambitious. Their waiting area is nice, there's coffee and wi-fi, good magazines. Think they're geared more to online booking and email contact rather than phones. Was an easy online setup and effective. Nice to see Customer Care for service finally come. Often.....no--- always----one feels like a caged pet waiting for adoption....'please pick me', as everybody scurries about. We've all heard the stories about dealerships. Excellence at Herb Gordon because of an excellent service writer. Paris was interested, he did follow-up for every step. He had accurate appraisal of parts status and delivery times. See, dealerships, it's not that hard. The service department can be even more important than the new car showroom. You only sell the car once. All a dealership needs to get people coming back is a service writer who is five star---like Paris. He communicates, keeps the customer updated and is extremely personable. Oh....and here's a nice touch. My awaiting repaired Volvo was perfectly laundered....seriously, car wash of detailing-quality. And, it was parked in the right direction in the service area, something missed by others....park the car so no clumsy back out is needed. Nice touch. read more

I don't trust dealerships especially when they sell you something such as LoJack when all Volvo vehicles clearly has an app to that tells you the location and ect of your vehicle . This reason made me hesitant to purchase a maintenance package for my vehicle from this location. I honestly tried NOT to purchase it from them , corporate told me that I would have to purchase that package from the selling dealership . Ms. Wyman sold me the vehicle and I had to deal with her again and the same "not" trusting feeling overwhelmed me with the whispering amongst one another between her and a coworker in the next office. Ms. Wyman appeared to be nice during the deal then at the end she didn't even say "Thank You " .....at this point I'm feeling rushed off because she had another deal following mine . She also tried to sell me a product I already had , if she would've just checked before opening her mouth . She kept asking me to finance the maintenance package , this is how they make money as well. Now I'm wondering if I came in to purchase the maintenance package why couldn't they sell me up to 100,00 miles ? Ive had nothing but issues since purchasing here. We stopped by on a whim after being very disappointed at another Volvo dealership. We were in a time rut and needed to buy a car that day. We pretty much knew exactly what we wanted so we just had to pick out the car. We met with Neal Hyman in sales and we were fairly happy. Service was slow and they had issues with keeping their papers straight and organized. They showed us a car that wasn't apple to be sold and they didn't realize until after the paperwork and car cleaning was started. Then we picked another and started that process all over again. We also added a few accessories for the car into our loan (cargo mat, Safety gate, and window shades). We ended up leaving the dealership at 11pm that night (6/12/18) with our brand new Volvo XC90 and had to wait for the accessories to be shipped. About a week later, Neal called to inform us that the accessories were never added into the loan and we would have to pay outright or redo all the paperwork- we just paid cash. A week or two passes without hearing anything about shipping info or about the license plate so I reached out. Neal said everything was on track and the parts just arrived and would be shipped from the dealer to our home. The last week in June, I received an email from Marc in finance asking for copies of our ID's and proof of income for our loan paperwork and I got that sent right over. On July 16th. I reached out to Neal again because we had not received out $1,000 in accessories or our license plate-no answer but left a voicemail. July 17th. I called again and no answer or return call. So on July 19th. I called again and no answer, then I asked to speak with parts since they may have some information. I spoke with someone and explained the situation and they told me they would return my call when they got answers- they never did. On July 20th I called Neal again and left another voicemail and then I was given his cell number which I called and was able to reach him. Neal said that my parts were NEVER shipped out and were just sitting there for the past two months. He said they were shipped that day and he had no info on the license plate. He blamed the whole ordeal on the parts manager and took none of the blame, even though I had reached out multiple times and he said all was good (clearly lying through his teeth). This was such a big deal because we were leaving the country for two weeks and our $1,000 accessories were now to arrive while we are gone, sitting in front of our house. The other issue is Neal was never even going to call to inform us that they were never sent! I asked Neal to please ensure the license plate was good to go because our temporary tag was to expire 8/11/18 and we need a license plate - he said he would handle it all and it would arrive before we returned. While out of the country we received another email from Marc in finance asking for copies of our ID's again! Apparently, He lost them for a third time!!! I managed to find service and a way to make this happen. A few days later, we received another email from a completely different person in finances asking if we could resign power of attorneys for the title because the paperwork was done with the wrong VIN number- no clue how that happens! The complications were then blamed on not working with one "point of contact" and thats were all the mix ups have occurred from. Apparently calling Neal about everything is not one point of contact I guess. It is now August 7th and I am still dealing with issues and we do not have a license plate. This is a very lazy way to handle business with someone who just spent over $60,000 at your dealership. I completely wish we would have gone to a dealership closer to us, anything would have been better then this! read more

Did the usual search for a car of my liking, (im a technician for Mercedes so that's hard). I've noticed what appears to be bait and switch tactics since I registered with the dealership online. After registering I received many emails from the dealer stating that the price of about each vehicle, in its online inventory, that I saved. The emails informed me that the prices haved changed or the vehicle has been sold. The dealer's online system recognizes my tablet now and looking at their inventory the internet prices are only $750 or so instead of the 6+% to 9+% off msrp like I saw before registering. Because of this type of sales approach I will not pursue my purchase here. They only hurt themselves by playing games. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. The departments don't communicate with each other even though they are just a few feet apart. I bought a Groupon here for a detail for my sedan. After I called to schedule they told me they couldn't see me until June. I said I wasn't interested in waiting that long. My impressions it that they sold more than they could handle and ran into scheduling problems. Due to this issue, I called Groupon and cancelled my coupon. Later that day, the manager George called me back. He said they were bringing someone on board and asked if I could re-purchase my Groupon. Groupon did me the favor and re-issued what they just cancelled. They put me on the schedule for the following Saturday. I tried to find out when to bring my car in. They said the night before. When I asked for the appointment time they wouldn't tell me. They just said it should be done by the afternoon. They also said since it's the weekend, they don't do pickups or dropoffs and they only do scheduled drop-offs at metro during the weekday so I'd have to fend for myself. Also, when I call to get to the detail department, the service department doesn't transfer. A few times I ended up at a voicemail with no call-backs. They weren't able to tell me again when I was scheduled to come in and the this girl at the Service desk had attitude on the phone. She just slurred her words as if it was the most annoying job in the world to answer a phone. People kept having me jump around departments to find out about my car. It was if they were doing me a favor. I ended up dropping off my car on the night before. They called me to alert me when it was ready, but they didn't leave a message. They just dialed twice and I had to call back the unknown number. The detail job itself was fairly decent. They missed a few less-obvious spots and didn't really clean in the console. Also, I've had quite a few details done to my car in the past, but they didn't clean the engine, as other places do. I was disappointed to see that. Overall, the communication is very wishy-washy based on who you talk to. You may get an enthusiastic service adviser, or a reluctant and bored secretary. You may get someone telling you they have no idea how to find out when your car will be ready (this happened to me) and some people who offer to call you back in ten minutes then call you back in 45. Also, the fact that they can't do a pickup or drop-off on the weekend isn't ideal considering they're 5 miles from the nearest metro and the bus system isn't obvious. I probably wouldn't go out of my way again to buy a Groupon here and get a detail here. read more

I purchased my Volvo from this dealership over 8 years ago but because I live in NOVA, I never came back to use their service department. After bringing my car to three different local mechanics, including my regular local Volvo dealership, to fix the air conditioning, I tried the Silver Spring service department. Not only did the service technicians fix the air conditioning, but they also knew how to fix the passenger side mirror (it no longer closed after locking car). My local dealership said I needed a whole new door. Really??! Everyone with whom I dealt was courteous and helpful. And the loaner was great, too. Yes, it's a bit of a drive for me but after these results, I will not go elsewhere. Thank you, Jose, for your excellent service, and Peter (salesperson who connected me with Jose). read more

Internet buyer beware. These folks aren't friendly to buying over the internet/email and will not hold used cars. I am a few hours away from the dealership and was negotiating a deal on a used Mazda by email and was not made aware of their policy until we had negotiated a price and a purchase order was sent. During the process of finalizing my financing a short few hours later they sold the vehicle to someone else. Beware! I stand by my comments. Internet buyer beware. The person who responded reinforced what I was saying. And to clarify I had financing and needed the buyers order to pick up the check. I would have never had the opportunity to complete the purchase as an out of town buyer. read more

I've been to Herb Gordon for both regular service, and major repair. And after several experiences I have the following points to share. Pros: -Courteous service representatives -Comfortable and clean waiting area with free coffee and wifi. (Wifi was down the last 2 visits) -Very quick turn-around-time on service -Free tote bags -Car wash complimentary after any service. Although the car wash was broken 50% of my visits. This is also a detractor. Detractors: -Loaners go through Enterprise. So you have to get your loaner car before Enterprise closes. And the worst thing is you have to pay for the fuel you use! This was a first for me. Now I've owned Volvo off and on for 16 years, and I have never-ever had to pay for the gas I used in a loaner. Wait, I never had to pay for loaner car fuel at any dealership service centers. So this was certainly an off-putting experience that quickly tarnished the pros listed above. Needless to say Herb Gordon is still a decent service shop to get your Volvo fixed up. But I can say the same for all of the other dealership service centers I've visited. Online scheduling for service makes my life that much easier, & the service coordinators (Jose especially!) are always friendly, professional & to the point. Expectations & costs are clearly communicated, and I have found the work performed to be top notch. I purchased my 2011 XC60 at this dealer about 5 years ago (WONDERFUL buying experience - no haggling, fair trade-in price, and I didn't feel taken advantage of, as a woman), and have been coming here for service ever since. I appreciate the loaner car, the exterior wash & interior vacuum, and the clean and comfortable waiting area whenever I need to visit for service. I bought car from Volvo less than one year ago. The car was inspected by BMW. Volvo did not want me to test drive the car for more than 15 minutes. I had to get approval to drive it for 30 minutes. The SUV only had approximately 65,000 miles on it. I purchased the car and 10 minutes after driving away it demonstrated no gas in the vehicle. Had to find three different gas stations to attempt gas, it wouldn't take more than 10.00. I called salesman Yaseen on his cell and he said I'd have to wait until the next day, they we're closed. Dealership was closed, nobody could help me. Ended up being fuel pump issues, right after I purchased it. Volvo had to fix the fuel pump within days of the car being bought. I was told new battery was placed in car before purchasing through BMW inspection. Battery ended up not holding a charge. Took to Volvo for replacement, they installed new battery. Problems immediately with worsening of other things, made Volvo aware. Was advised by Volvo to go to the dealer that the car was made by after requesting that Volvo diagnose the car due to battery making it worse, they advised they don't work on those cars so recommended I take to get diagnostic by another dealer. There I was advised that Volvo put the wrong battery in my vehicle that was meant for a car, not an SUV. Reached back out to Volvo to advise. I notified Volvo and they placed yet another battery (now 3) in less than a year, in the SUV. My SUV is not safe, unable to drive it without breaking down so I have no SUV now. The car is not functional and not safe. I won't go into details about their comments towards me. My experience has been horrific and they demonstrated that they do not care about me losing thousands of dollars on my SUV to end up having no SUV now. I paid for this in full, and it had problems leaving the lot. I'm sharing this experience with you because I don't want this to happen to anyone else. read more

On the good side, the services performed seemed excellent and done on time. They will provide a loaner when needed and have good availability for appointments on short notice. The issue I have is the price on their online scheduling system sometimes differs from actual pricing - mine didn't differentiate between synthetic and regular while my car needs the more expensive synthetic. The service manager honoured the scheduler price and is working on the system to ensure this is fixed. Sounds like an honest bug in the system. At the end of the day, just verify the price to make sure it priced it according to what your car needs. read more

WOW! We are looking to lease a new vehicle and Volvo was on our list to check out. Honestly, my husband originally wanted a different brand - but after visiting this location and testing the XC60, all he can talk about is Volvo! The manager was so helpful and our salesperson, Brady, was so helpful. Everyone was nice, friendly, and enthusiastic. They genuinely like the cars and were knowledgable about their features. We tried the XC60 and loved it - it has almost all the features we are looking for (plus a few extras!) - and my husband loved how modern and innovative it looked and felt. Having tried a few cars now, the XC60 is absolutely at the top of his list. It was a great car, and even more so, this was a great dealership to visit. One of the worse car dealerships I've ever been to. Brought my car in for regular service and they gave me the heavy sell on add-on services I didn't yet need like wheel alignment (all the while missing the fact that I had a big gash on the outer tire that I'd not replaced yet). Wandered around the showroom looking at newer models but the 3+ salespeople there couldn't be bothered to get up from their desks to greet me, much less answer any questions or show me the cars -- guess they figured I was already an owner so why bother. Spent over $700 with them and the car wash wasn't working because "the pipes had frozen" so they couldn't give me my complimentary wash. The service manager didn't even tell me that there was a general car wash around the corner that he could give me a free voucher for but the nice lot attendant let me know and got the voucher for me. Note that the pipes at that car wash were not frozen... Place gets 2 stars instead of 1 only because of the conscientious lot attendant and the nice enough waiting area that had free coffee/tea and water for you while you waited. As for the service... my engine light mysteriously started coming on about three days after I left the dealership. I took it to another mechanic to have the issue fixed, but the Volvo dealership should have caught the problem in the 1st place. read more

This is the second time I've had my Volvo S60 serviced here and I will continue to return. While they were booked out a couple weeks in advance the quality of service was well worth the wait. The 30k mileage service, oil change, and vehicle inspection were performed quickly while I waited in the spotless lounge. They had bagels and coffee in the lounge which was much appreciated. After the service was complete Jose Espejo, the service advisor, took the time to explain to me work that had been performed and items which may need attention in the future. I would definitely recommend bringing your vehicle here as you will receive professional service. Next time I will call about three weeks in advance, as they are booked out on the weekends. I would be VERY careful approaching or working with this car dealer. After they reviewed photos of my used car for sale I was offered a good price. I drove my car to their office (1 hr. drive) and quickly realized that the offer was simply to get me there. They claimed that the few VERY minor scratches I had on the car reduced the value of the car by $1500. No dents, just very minor scratches. I had priced the cost to fix the scratches - less than $300. The staff member I had been working with apologized to me, saying it was up to the manager. BEWARE of this company - that kind of business practice would generalize to car sales and repairs in that car dealership. Would never recommend Volvo Cars Silver Spring to anyone. read more
