In terms of sales here I've bought 3 cars here and I've been happy each time as they were reasonable with the pricing and made the buying experience not stressful. The service department here was great. Pulled up and got checked in right away. My service advisor Vitaliy was the best, very friendly and helpful. He is always my go to guy there. Made the process smooth and easy, they honored my coupon from Subaru America. They got my car in and out within 45mins for an oil change which was great. I will drive the extra 30mins to come here for service because their staff is great and I haven't have a bad experience in 12 years of coming here. Recently revisited Herb Gordon because I had a flat and was looking to replace my tire. I was recommended to have both front tires replaced so that the rotation would be balanced or to have all 4. I was quoted roughly $250 per tire and decided to go elsewhere for $150 per tire. I appreciated their quickness in assistance since I only did a walk in. I came here a while back and test drove a car. I don't really have any complaints. I made an appointment, the car was ready to drive when I showed up, and the salesman made me an honest offer at the end. I didn't like the car enough after the drive, but I had no complaints about the process. It wasn't rushed, and there was no bait-and-switch. The salesman called me once afterward to follow-up but I was not hounded into oblivion. As far as dealerships go, a solid experience. read more

Very long, complex, story. Bottom line, Eddie Sarecky, the dealership Manager, personally found the "right" used Subaru for me. With 7k miles, it is "like new." For several reasons, including a medical condition precluding certain seats, I needed a very specific model and wanted a 2022 or 2023 model. This is the 2nd Subaru I've purchased from Herb Gordon. I have always felt that I was treated honestly and fairly here. The service department is excellent and charges a fair price for oil changes, etc. Jerrell Latham is a wonderful service advisor! Honesty is important to me. I have never felt that I was being sold anything I did not genuinely need. This is very different from Herson's in Rockville! This review is specific to service. We've had excellent experiences here with sales. And used to have great service here as well, not so much anymore. This location was my go-to for trusted service but this last time I was there the experienced service reps were all gone. I took my 7 year old car for an oil change and got a text with a recommended $2,000 service! Saying it needed immediate attention. No phone call to warn me or anything. I called and the service technician tried to convince me that I needed this $2,000 service. Telling me my car would "choke out if I didn't do it. Two calls to other Subaru dealership locations, and a local mechanic's third evaluation all told me that I did not need the $2,000 service that was recommended. I could do a $221 service instead. I am appalled that Herb Gordon Subaru tried to up charge me when all I wanted was an $89 oil change. I can't trust them anymore. One week later, following this review a manager called me. Instead of asking what my experience was or how we could make this better, he started trying to convince me that the $2,000 is the only recommended Subaru option and questioned which 2 other Subaru dealerships had told me otherwise. He also wanted to know the name of the mechanic I went to. It just felt like he was trying to convince me that the 3 other mechanics were wrong instead of trying to understand his customers experience. read more

Because I only drive 5-6,000 miles a year, I get my 2018 Forester serviced once a year at Herb Gordon Subaru. The service is always good, but today's service was exemplary. Besides the fast turnaround, I want to express my delight in the thorough (and free) car wash. I park my car outside under some large trees, and the roof had some heavy build-up of resinous dirt that commercial car washes don't alleviate. Herb Gordon's wash crew left the roof spotless. Later I was transferred to Rodney Rogers, who is hands-down, the best service advisor I have worked with in my life. I just tagged along, but I was so impressed with this dealership -- and Sue Ireland in particular -- that I came back a month or so later to buy a new 2025 Forester. I cannot recommend these good people highly enough. They are attentive, thoughtful, courteous, and honest folks. I was very, very pleased with the service I received from Herb Gordon Subaru which I purchased my used Rav 4 three years ago. I tried to go to the Toyota dealership for six weeks to get a quote on new tires to no avail. Rodney from HGS was able to quote me an out of the door price, including labor, balancing and an alignment. Upon arrival, I was serviced immediately. There were snacks and coffee in the lounges. If you're thinking of buying new tires for your Subaru, do NOT go to Herb Gordon Subaru. I made an appointment online, received a confirmation email, and confirmed the appointment via text message the day prior to my appointment. I showed up for my appointment only to find out the General Altimax tires I ordered weren't in stock. After further research by the service desk, not only are the tires not in stock, they aren't even available as they are "close out" despite the website saying are available. I asked for a discount on another set of tires that were available, but the dealership wasn't willing to work with me at all. I won't be back for any service appointments in the future. Review edited to note that I received a call from the Service/Parts Director Greg Edwards shortly after posting of this review (on multiple sites), who apologized for the issue and said he would work with me to install Michelin Defender tires today. However, Herb Gordon Subaru had their chance to make it right this morning when I was at the dealership. There were at least two instances the Service Advisor went to talk to someone else (who I can only assume is a manager) to see what they could do, but they weren't able to provide any deals on the Michelin Defender 2s then. They should have worked with me from the beginning. I already wasted my time driving there and back once today. I wasn't doing it again. I already purchased new tires from Costco. read more

Although I bought my car at Herb Gordon, these days I usually have it serviced at a place within walking distance of my house where I took previous cars. This time, however, I had the sort of problem that only a Subaru service department could address. Happily, they were great people to deal with. I was more than satisfied with the service I got and would heartily recommend these guys. That includes Michael, my main service advisor, and Luis, who helped me in Michael's absence when I picked up my car. Michael gets high marks for doing a fine job of communicating with me throughout the process. And I am very grateful to Luis for saving me an extra trip to the dealership. I hadn't paid close attention to their Saturday hours and was very lucky to find him there after hours and happy to assist me. He did so in a couple of ways I didn't expect. First of all, he made a quick cosmetic improvement by replacing a missing clip. (The car needs some bodywork but that's not what it was there for.) Plus, he identified a sound I'd been hearing (but my regular mechanic could not) as a CV axle showing some wear and advised me to replace it when the sound became a regular occurrence on left turns. I expect I'll be bringing my car to Herb Gordon when it does. read more

I had an excellent test drive experience with Luke and his team recently. They cleanly executed a saleperson handoff, had the vehicle ready to go at the requested time, and gave me as much time as I needed with the vehicle. Following this, I was able to get readily understandable pricing offers, and their followup sales pitch leads me to believe they should be low-stress to negotiate price with. The thing that sets Subaru and their dealerships apart from the rest is: love. I mean, that *is* what makes a Subaru, a Subaru. The time and effort they put forth to make your experience a pleasant one is like, exceptional. For me, I'm a 19 year old that has had two cars: a Dodge and as of recently, a Subaru and the difference in service is day and night. No joke. I know for most of us car owners, you try to avoid the dealership at. All. Costs. It takes forever, it takes up your whole day (and in most cases, paycheck) and you're already mad that something has happened to your primary mode of transportation. At least that's how it is at *other* dealerships. Not here. They have a super cool lounge and if you want somewhere that's devoid of children screaming and TVs blaring, you can head on upstairs to the "Quiet Lounge" where you're greeted with a ~~massage chair~~, unlimited cups of coffee and Espressos (or Hot Cocoa with real MILK if coffee isn't your vibe) and literally desks. Literal desks. Ever taken the SAT and they have those desks where you're almost completely enclosed and can't see what's going on beside you? Yes. Take that and couple it with high-speed WiFi and you can telework and lounge about like you're at home. Oh, and one more thing before I end this review (because it's really getting toooo long): The Quick Lane Service? *Chefs kiss* They will greet you at your car, open the door, lead you into the main building and make sure you get everything you need while your cars being serviced. Thus far I have had a great experience working with Debbie Colt and the Herb Gordon crew. I was able to find a 2017 Subaru certified Forester online and Debbie was very helpful when I contacted her. She was able to coordinate a test drive yesterday and answered my litany of questions, however she did not know the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow ...J/K She was great to work with under the COVID restrictions and very helpful in going over all the options to purchase. I was prepared to "cash and carry", but they offered me a good finance package with no pre-payment penalties, so I can pay it off early. After knocking out the paperwork I was able to get home and enjoy the beautiful day. They are prepping my vehicle now and fixing a minor issue. So I am a customer who bought my Forrester in January from this dealership. The sales process was pretty good. I did not have time for a lot of negotiations and their process was very convenient for that,.. So thinking the service would be similar I arranged for the first ever, complementary, oil change and tire rotation. I made a reservation for 8:30 and arrived at 8:22 am. There was a bit of confusion but the service gentleman who took my keys assured me that it would be done in an hour and ten minutes.. I felt good as I had a meeting right after,.. Since I hate waiting in lounges I started walking around the area.. After about 20 minutes I walked to the back lot and saw that my car was just sitting there. Returning to the desk I asked if they still would be able to complete it by the allotted time and was reassured it could and indeed would be done. Waited another 25 minutes and did not see my car moved. At which point I politely asked for my car to be returned to me and left. UPDATE: Service Manager called to apologize and actually came to my office to pick up the vehicle for service. This was indeed a nice touch... read more

My husband, 21 month old daughter, and I had a smooth experience purchasing a new car from Angel at Herb Gordon Subaru. In the days of internet searching, price comparisons, sites like TrueCar and everything else that comes with being equipped with information, I recommend this dealership and felt like everyone there I encountered was sincere and trustworthy. Angel was able to answer all of my questions and be flexible on the pricing, whereas other dealerships wouldn't seem to budge. I got the extended bumper for bumper warranty when I bought my used 2015 Subaru. For routine, none-warranty repairs I take it to my outstanding local mechanic, Moshe's Auto Care, for most service. But for warranty repairs and a recall, Herb Gordon Subaru Service has been great. The repairs are done properly. The customer service personnel are totally competent and polite. They understand the vehicle, what you need and want. They honestly report how long the repair will take. They have excellent loaner vehicles if necessary. They don't pressure you to do other repairs issues their inspection identifies if you decline. Everyone you deal with treats you with respect and professionalism. read more

We just had our 2017 Forester in for a warranty AC service at Herb Gordon Subaru. The service writer who assisted us (Harry) listened to what we had to say and then worked with us to resolve the issue. I made the appointment by calling the week prior and even though they appeared to be very busy - the Friday before 4th of July - our Forester went in the shop right on time. The service was fairly extensive, but their estimate on time was spot-on. The AC works wonderfully again (hooray!) and the entire experience is why we bought from them in the first place. It is a little bit of a drive from where we live (Crofton area), but the level of customer service is what keeps us going back. read more
