I had a good experience at this dealership and would highly recommend it...my salesperson, Elaina (not sure if she is still there) was kind, patient, and helpful, more like a friendly acquaintance than anything. Fitzgerald didn't have the model or color I was initially looking for but Elaina took me on an evening test drive on a different model (Outback Premium) and I was won over...I'm a Subaru fan now for life! My car has not had any issues and the entire purchasing process went smoothly. I also continued to bring my car here for oil changes and maintenance and appreciated the waiting area (always stocked with coffee and snacks) and good service. Once or twice I've had to wait longer than expected but it was easy to check in with the associates at the counter for updates (and I had brought plenty of work to do). I also discovered in the waiting area some heart-shaped postcards on which you can write a brief message for cancer patients...thought that was pretty cool and enjoyed writing a few encouraging notes. read more

I took my car in for service for some dashboard warning lights. Two days prior, I'd had the oil changed by a well-respected mechanic. When I left the service center after my repairs, I smelled burning, but I had just entered the highway during rush hour. My oil light came on, and I called the service center -- they told me to drive back. I was able to pull into a gas station instead, where the mechanics found that my oil had leaked under the hood and I was, as they put it, about a mile from losing my engine. If I had done what the Subaru center told me, I would have destroyed my engine on a highway during rush hour. The gas station cleaned up under the hood as best they could and had to add $67 worth of oil. I called the service center back, very upset, and was told someone would call me in the morning. The next day, I left a message, sent two emails to the service directors describing what happened, and answered my advisor's follow-up text about my experience -- and days later, no one had returned my call. I asked to see the service video they routinely record during work. No one responded to that either. On top of this, having done my homework on my car, I found the dealership had tried to sell me a diagnosis for the Starlink backup battery -- on a car with no active Starlink subscription, a system I don't have and clearly don't need. As for the oil: I have documentation from the mechanic who changed it days earlier showing everything was in order, and I'd been driving the car without issue since. I also have the receipt for the $67 of oil I had to add after leaving the station. Regardless of what caused the oil issue, the people at this service center did not care enough about what happened to me to even return my call. I will be lodging a formal complaint. read more

When I made the appointment on the phone, I was given a date a few weeks out specifically because I did not want the car left at the dealership for multiple days (apparently this is the norm?). When I checked in, the service guy told me that it was a complicated procedure and the car may have to be held until the next day. I figured I didn't have any choice! So I drop it off at 8 am--and they finally call me at 4:30 PM to say they don't have the part needed. They have not had it for quite a while, in fact. It's out of stock everywhere. I had a 9 am appointment for a warranty car repair. No updates were provided until 4 pm when a text message said the car would not be worked on until Monday. Why did they accept the appointment if they were too busy to do the work? I visited the service department at 430 pm, and a service manager promised the car would be worked on and delivered to my home the next day. During a 1245 call with the service department I was informed the car wouldn't be ready until Monday. Obviously the promise of delivery to my home was just to placate an irate customer toget me out of their hair. I definitely won't trust their word in the future. read more

After four years of owning my Outback (exactly 50K miles on the odometer) and two really awful experiences with this service department, I am updating my review. Save yourself. They're great--wildly overpriced but great--as long as your car is healthy. When things go wrong, they are awful. You'll get a very fancy video of your car by text, explaining 100s of things they'd like you to buy from them that have NOTHING to do with the problem at hand. And then they won't work very hard to find that problem. Throw up their hands, pat you on your head, and send you off so the issue will repeat, generally more than once (you'll also wait 45 minutes for them to bring your car from the garage at that point, but I digress). I have never, ever had a dealer so lazily handle issues with a car. Or treat their customers like such an inconvenience. Or charge so much for the privilege. "The Fitz Way" is the highway to hell. Realized I never updated this and I know the gentleman who worked on my car is still there because a friend just had him. Not only did they keep my car that day, I walked down the next day and it still hadn't been looked at, AND they'd lost my keys. I finally got my car back the FOURTH day after dropping it off. However, not before this employee lied to me some more about how backed up they'd been and how he personally tried to reach out to me but couldn't get a hold of me. But he offered me a pen as consolation. Dope. -_- To add insult to injury, a year later, I had to get my rotors replaced because they didn't use genuine parts and they failed after...drumroll please...8,500 miles. My car had 67,000 miles on it when we needed them changed the first time. I don't know how this place is still in business and I haven't been back since, but because a friend was also just scammed thought I'd reiterate. Seems like they haven't changed at all. Worst costumer service I've ever mr experienced. I sold my car to them about 2 months ago. I was never given a copy of the contract or told to return my license plates to the state (I recently moved here). Now the state of Maryland is racking up fees against me for allegedly owning the car without insurance and they need the sale agreement to drop the case. I've called at least 10 times over three weeks. I've sent emails. I've left voicemails. I've explained the situation to at least three people at this dealership. I keep being forwarded to people who don't answer the phone. I don't get responses to my emails or voicemails. My wife recently called on my behalf to see if that would heidi's better results, and she was twice forwarded to people who didn't answer. Summary: Falsified information and tried charging us ~2000$ for a 150$ fix. They charge a 250$ fee for DIAGNOSING a problem, an absolutely unethical business practice. NEVER TAKE YOUR SUBARU HERE. UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICE. CANNOT TRUST! We brought our car in for multiple problems including some worrisome car shaking. They rushed us into leaving our car with them to "diagnose" our problem and promising a thorough video of any problems they found. We were pressured into agreeing into their 250$ diagnosis fee, which they do subtract from any total fees accrued from any repairs done to the car. The next day, we were quoted over 2000$ for multiple repairs that were "urgent" and would "only get worse". The video we received from their mechanic of our problems as "proof" was completely useless. The entire video was pointed away from the relevant area of the car, failing to show any useful information. It almost seemed as though they did not want to truly show us the location they claimed to be broken... We ended up paying the diagnosis fee and taking it elsewhere for a second opinion and a third opinion. Turns out, EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM they diagnosed was false. This was confirmed by two separate trusted, licensed car mechanics. The true problem was a simple problem which was fixed for under 150$. Safe to say, this is by far the WORST experience we have ever experienced. read more

Just moved to the are and brought my 2023 WRX in for an oil change, tire rotation and my wireless Carplay wasn't working. I dropped it off early on a Saturday and the service staff told me it might take a few days to update the radio, so they gave me a loaner. In picking up my vehicle the CarPlay issue wasn't fixed, and the service staff tried to lie and say the 2023 WRX didn't come with wireless CarPlay which is complete BS (I even pulled it up online on the Subaru website, which listed it as a standard feature). Also, on the oil change sticker, I noticed they put the return for service date as 3k miles instead of the 6k (synthetic), which he tried apologizing for and said it was a mistake....this is a slimy way for dealerships to trick people into servicing their car more than needed. Avoid this place at all costs, they clearly like scamming their customers and fall under the slime ball mechanics that are all to abundant now a-days. read more

Stay away from the service department !! They botched an oil change on a Subaru Impreza by 1) overfilling it by about 1 quart and 2) torquing the drain bolt so hard I cannot get it loose. I have been working on cars for decades and have never seen this poor service. Overfilling results in the oil foaming as the crank hits it while running causing loss of lubrication, and potentially damaging oil seals. It is specifically mentioned in the manual as something to avoid. In addition, it too them twice as long as they promised and they returned a car reeking of cigarette smoke. Our experiences with other Subaru dealerships have been much more positive, which made this a very unpleasant experience, Shame on you Fitzgerald! read more

The model of this dealership is to have great customer service for return and use of their overpriced dealership car maintenance and repair. They always send "how did we do" emails and I have had reps ask me to give a 10 because that's how they're evaluated and bonused. Today I came in for scheduled (pre-paid) service. I asked that they actually wash and vacuum out the car since the last few times I was here there were "reasons" they couldn't. Last time the rep said I should come back and he'd make sure the car was detailed. The dealership is like an hour from my house so I didn't take him up on it. Anyway, It would have been so easy to say, "Yeah, we normally can't do a full vacuum of the car. It would really back up service, but given the fact that the last 3 times you were here we didn't even wash, we'll be glad to make an exception." Instead I get a stony-faced refusal and a snotty dismissal. That's an absolute fail on the only thing they measure. I like my Subaru a lot. I do not like this dealership much. read more

I am on my third Subaru. My second, a 2011 Legacy, now belongs to my daughter. I had Fitzgerald replace the timing belt last year for several thousand dollars to prevent a future issue. Took the car in yesterday for overheating. Ismael Posada calls and leaves me a message saying it needs a new timing belt. The car has not even been driven 500 miles since the new timing belt, which makes me wonder, did they not do it and charge me anyway last year? Did they botch the job last year? Or are they lying now to try to gauge me for money? Update: Ismael called me back to say yes, they had replaced the timing belt, but that isn't really the issue, it is actually the Head Gasket, which is also an over $5,000 repair. Picked up the car and took it to a different shop. Turns out the overheating is being caused by the radiator fan, it needs a new motor and some wiring. Cost $700 Fitzgerald lies about repairs to gauge for money. Avoid at all costs. read more

Full Disclosure: I bought my Subaru at a Leesburg Dealership and the experience was.... less than fantastic. They tried to give me an insulting amount for my trade-in, and the Salesman I had was fairly frenetic and a bit all over the place it seemed. So I wasn't completely sure the experience I'd get coming to this dealership for service. But literally from the phone call booking my appointment (where the woman welcomed me to the "Fitzgerald Family") To the man who helped me out of my car and pointed me in the direction of the service office To the young gentlemen who helped me coordinate the service needs. The whole experience was just stellar AF. Particularly the young gentleman I dealt with at the Service Counter. I explained my problems at length with the car, and he was very knowledgeable about the car and those sorts of problems. He was super courteous, very polite, and even apologize for making me wait a couple of minutes while he was on the phone. He pointed out nearby places to eat. And he under promised and over delivered on the service end of it. Turns out my Subaru had a faulty battery, but luckily the battery was still under warranty. I just bought this car a little over 2 years ago. He was able to do all of the service for free, and whilst he said it would be about 2 hours. It was definitely more around 1.5 hours. Or maybe even less. The waiting area had several tables, and I posted up in a comfy chair with a plug next to it and got some work done, and before I knew it, he came to find me and told me my service was done. The whole experience truly - from booking the appointment to when I left the dealership was 5 stars. I will make it a point to come back to here for service. read more

I was hesitate buying 2024 Outback as there is some complaints about the Infotainment system being slow and freeze. My sales person is Johnny F.. He is aware of the issues in the previous year models and told me that the infotainment system has improved in 2024. He is right. I have driven the Outback for over 2 weeks and haven't had any issue. I am very angry with Fitzgerald's unresponsive attitude towards me. I leased a 2020 Oytback from them and a week ago Friday I Experienced "Spontaneous " windshield cracks. It started small grew accross the middle of my windshield. Upon calling Fitzgerald I was immediately told try hat this was my responsibility. I called back twice and left a message with a live human for try he general manager. I never received any call back from Fitzgerald. In the meantime I did my own research and found out there are problems with Subaru windshields including the 2020 Outback. I contacted Subaru twice through the customer service contact form. Finally, I received an email from Subaru staying that try the dealer should have inspected the windshield to see if although stress cracks from no clear impact are covered under the Subaru new car warranty. Since I never heard back from the dealer I had to have the windshield replaced through my insurance company. Subaru offered to pick up the deductible. Thanks for nothing Fitzgerald Subaru. read more

This review is for the FITZGERALD SUBARU location in ROCKVILLE. The Fitzgerald SUBARU in GAITHERSBURG is FIVE STARS for Service. I'm not sure why such a glaring difference in customer service between the Rockville location and the Gaithersburg location. The service people at the Rockville location are complete shady morons and rude. GM of this location, please send your service team to school to learn standard professional etiquette. It's so bad I drive the 18 miles to the Gaithersburg location for service when the Rockville location is 3 miles from my home (and I'm on my 2 Subaru in 10 years (bought from Gaithersburg) and will not use Rockville for service). AVOID the Rockville Subaru location for service. Oh, and to echo others posts - yes, they get you to sign up for their maintenance plan with enticements like free loaner car and car wash but for some strange reason there are NEVER any loaner cars and the car wash is ALWAYS conveniently broken. This is the closest Subaru dealership and service center to my home so naturally I would come here. However, due to some unfortunate experiences, I cannot recommend coming here and can confidently say it's worth the drive to a different Subaru location. Let's not futz around, here is why you should not come here: 1) The building is full of fake personalities blowing rainbows up your anus. The employees here seemed to be trained liars with no hearts. They are taught to maximize the amount of money the dealership makes at your expense. They intentionally try to not give you any deals and hide any specials going on. 2) They literally tried charging me like $700 for a $200 job. They talk fast and make it seem like you need stuff you don't. They're straight swindlers. Remember folks, refer to your owner's manual for what service you really need. No need for pay an extra $500 for mechanics to look at something for 2 seconds. And yes, I went to a different Subaru service center and only paid $200 for what I needed, not a smack-in-the-face $700 for non-European car service. 3) I had an oil change and tire rotation one time and my car had a few significant dents. I am 100% certain that it happened at their dealership because I baby my car. I let them know and they said they'd review the cameras and of course, they deny and say my car came in with the dents. Liars. These people are the epitome of cheaters and want to rip you off from Earth to the moon. Steer clear and go elsewhere! read more

Update: I was charged incorrectly and received a call from the manager. The overcharge was refunded the same day! Very pleased and will take my car here again. Initial review: Service department is terribly overpriced. I was charged almost $640 to replace the front driver side power window regulator on my '14 Forester. The price for the factory part from Subaru is $225 (they charged about 260, so not too far off) but their labor rate is much higher than I have paid at other dealers, even for Subaru service. read more
