Huge compliments to Fitzgerald Hyundai Rockville service advisor Cristin Simons, the latest of the first-rate service advisors who have taken care of me and my Hyundai Accent for more than 10 years. Cristin is a gem and embodies the Fitz Way ethic -- honest, professional, knowledgeable, efficient, responsive and a delight to work with. She kept me fully informed as work progressed repairing fire damage. In fact, I felt that she wasn't just doing her job, but was acting as a friend. Great appreciation, too, to the mechanic who was also especially honest. I knew my AC was making bad noises and figured that, after a decade of heavy use, the motor was shot. But while the shop easily could have sold me on a new motor, the mechanic diagnosed the problem as debris and cleaned it out. Works fine now. Such honesty is what I have encountered repeatedly at Fitzgerald Hyundai over the years. And the cost is always reasonable and appropriated. My thanks and appreciation! read more

I actually made an appointment on line 2 days a head of time. When I arrived for my appointment they told me I did not have an appointment even though I had text messages from them confirming. Bait and switch. I took my car in for Warranty work and they charged me for Diagnostic without telling me when I dropped it off.

I understand that this place gets really busy and there aren't enough staff. I get that. I am glad to wait patiently. My problem is that the last several times I dropped my car for service, my car looks like it's been in the mud - inside and out. The dirt is clearly visible and obvious. You can't tell me that you missed a spot. The car was so dirty - and even on the fabric area of the interior. I even see a scratch in the car that wasn't there before. I even see fingerprints. And I see some oily residue on the exterior of the car too. WHAT THE HELL?!?! The only alleviation is put in the car wash and have someone quick wipe the interior which doesn't get it back in the normal condition I brought it in. And now I have to take my time and spend extra money to clean the interior of my car. That's not acceptable. I am just so annoyed and irritated. I have written a complaint so we'll see what happens. But, the next time I have to go in for service, what do I do? Put plastic wrap all over the interior of my car? If they got their car serviced, they wouldn't expect it to be returned in a worse condition. They should know better. Now I need to get car detailed and we all know that ain't cheap. I shouldn't have to do this...just so pissed.... read more

The service team have always been professional and polite. I do think they need to reimagine the lounge with seating and chargers for those that want to plug in and work. Other seating for those who want to sit, sleep or watch TV. And TV should not be on infomercials. Rather have news or music videos or something else less depressing. I don't usually wait and it was manageable but I think some extra thought to the space may help. It was not a bad experience but could have been better. read more

I had scheduled a 9:30 a.m. appointment to have a key FOB programmed. When my husband brought the car in, he was informed that in addition to the key FOB programming, there was also a recall update and software update needed for the vehicle. The recall and software update were completed in less than 30 minutes. However, over the next six hours, he was repeatedly told by both Lynn Pittmon and Naty Ruiz that "they are almost done," "the vehicle is not finished yet," and "it should be finishing up soon." Six hours later, after hearing the same vague responses, I began calling the service department myself. My calls repeatedly went to voicemail, and I was unable to reach anyone. I was eventually connected to a supervisor in Gaithersburg, who also attempted to contact that location and could not get anyone to answer. I ultimately drove to the dealership myself to find out what was going on. At that point, I was finally told the truth: the Hyundai FOB programming machine was down and had not been working. Meanwhile, my husband had been sitting there for six hours under the false impression--because that is exactly what he had been told--that the vehicle would be ready any minute. Had your service department simply been honest from the beginning, he would have left and returned another time. Instead, because of the misinformation and lack of transparency, we lost an entire day and had to cancel plans to leave town that morning for a weekend away. Even more frustrating, someone could and should have called us before the 9:30 a.m. appointment to let us know the machine was down, sparing us the wasted trip altogether. To make matters worse, during the six hours he sat waiting in your dealership, my husband overheard sales staff openly disparaging customers and making comments such as, "she doesn't even know what she's signing." Hearing employees speak so disrespectfully about customers was shocking and incredibly revealing. This entire experience was dishonest, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable. We were repeatedly misled, our time was treated as if it had no value, and the professionalism we expected from Fitzgerald Automotive was nowhere to be found. It was an eye-opening experience and one that has ensured we will not be giving Fitzgerald Automotive another minute of our time. Sincerely, Tamara Kucik read more

Called to make an appointment for body work on damage sustained during the big freeze because single digit temps + plastic car body = :-( . Explained exactly what I needed done. Was told I had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment. Spoke to both the main Service desk and a service representative. After three weeks, I arrived to be told "Oh. We don't do body work here." Now waiting another three weeks for service in the Collision Center in Gaithersburg. The level of incompetence and not caring is stunning. read more

Consider the ball dropped. Please explain the point of setting up an appointment for service when...well...let's begin. 10:15 appointment. I'm there early. I had called for the express purpose of having brakes replaced. Me: How long should we anticipate, more or less? Them: four, maybe four and a half hours. Four hours and thirty-eight minutes later, after having no updates, I check on the progress. In very fancy and professional language, they let me know that they hadn't started. Six hours after dropoff, they come back with: so looks like you need brakes done? Should we proceed? Why, yes, let's indeed proceed with the work that I had made the appointment for in the first place. Then, the kicker. "We need it overnight. Oh, and no loaner." I'm paraphrasing, because, as always, the language was splendidly friendly while communicating that nothing had been done, and that none of the expectations had been met. I had taken a day off to take care of this, and had explained in the morning that I had to get to day care that evening. Not only was that situation compromised, but my next day of work was also in question due to this situation. There are a lot of ways a scenario like this can impact a family. Was there any accountability shown? Nope. "So sorry. Someone will reach out." Oh...thanks. They haven't. Who is handling the booking/workload? Who benefits from taking on more repairs than they can handle? Who is holding the company accountable for communicating with customers in a timely manner? With the waiting room more full than I've ever seen it, I must restate: the ball has been dropped. And, sadly, the likelihood is that someone in a fancy outfit will simply stand and nod with a well-practiced smile and say; "sorry for the trouble." And nothing will change. Let's teach our children the value of respecting people's time, setting realistic expectations, and communicating progress. Lastly, what is also sad is that they will benefit from another likelihood- that many other places are even worse. Sincerely, from between a rock and a hard place - - an incredibly disappointed customer read more

Worst Service department. When you come in for repairs you don't expect to be treated like you don't have sense. That is how those unprofessional men at Rockville Fitzgerald act.    *   They didn't inspect or explain clearly    *   They blamed general weather conditions (which affected everyone) so why not more motor failures    *   They tried to sell me a repair instead of honoring warranty My windshield wiper failed and they said it was the motor because of bad weather. Don't go here. Their schedulers don't have access to the car records to tell you prior recommended services. Their service advisors don't know have access either, so they cannot easily determine what was recommended. I called and got recall work scheduled, and the dealer only got two of the notices on file and didn't take care of the third recall notice- which required them to order a part. That requires a new trip back. Just a giant waste of time for a customer. And the advisors don't call you quickly to tell you what needs to be done. It's like I'm bothering them for the work on my car. Just a terrible, awful, horrible customer service experience. I won't be going again. read more

I brought my car in for a routine oil change and inspection. They charge a lot more than other shops but I decided to give them a try anyway. Brian asked me to leave my car over night because there was a recall, so I agreed to leave it over night. When I called the next day Brian told me no one had worked on my car, I told him that I'm not going to leave my car there for a 3rd day and he insisted that they would work on it right away. When I picked my car up I never got an inspection report. Brian and Naty Ruiz said I would get a video inspection of my car instead but that never happened, which makes me wonder if any work was done on my car at all. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Fitzgerald Hyundai of Rockville for the past six years, bringing my vehicle exclusively to this dealership for service. While my Hyundai was still under warranty, I repeatedly experienced an issue where my oil change light would not turn off. Each time I returned to the dealership, they simply reset it--only for the light to reappear by the time I got back to D.C. Now that my car is out of warranty, I decided to raise the issue again with one of the service managers, Lynn Pitmon. He suggested that there could actually be a problem, which I initially found hard to believe since I had brought this up multiple times before. After paying for a detailed engine inspection, an oil leak was finally discovered. Despite this, Criston Simons, another service manager, has refused to provide me with an explanation for Hyundai's denial of my claim and has also refused to take responsibility for the negligence of their service team. This lack of transparency and accountability is unacceptable. I strongly urge anyone considering this dealership for service to look elsewhere. They may seem helpful at first, but if an issue requires them to take responsibility, they will withhold critical information. Loyalty means nothing to them, and long-term customers are not treated with the fairness or integrity they deserve. If you have also experienced engine issues at this dealership, please reach out to me no later than Friday, March 21st, at 12 PM. read more

Absolutely horrific service department, or at least I can only comment on the lazy service advisor Cesar. If you guys come here, I 100% encourage you to ask for any other advisor except for Cesar. I've called them multiple times to get a receipt for my services to no avail. I am frustrated bc I have recently gotten the 40,000 mile service on my car which cost me much more than it should have. Sales guy had better things to do with his day than talk to me about buying cars. I came in so I could see, in-person, the vehicle types I'd been comparing online. Things started off well with a brief chat. I was up front about not being in a rush to purchase and I shared, when asked, that I'm currently driving a 2011 vehicle. With those two pieces of information - in addition to my appearance as female and in casual Sunday afternoon clothes - this guys attitude completely changed and suddenly he was dismissing my questions about current prices. I don't know what the issue was. The main desk had directed me to speak to this particular salesman and he didn't have any other customers that I could see, so I dont think I interrupted him. It was just a really odd interaction and pretty disappointing. I would have liked to get a better sense of total cost out the door price for the new EVs but I think I'll be doing that from home over the phone instead. It wasn't a very long interaction at all so I can't really say I have a good sense of the whole sales team there, but there's at least one guy I'd recommend steering clear of. read more

Called THREE times to ensure the vehicle we wanted to look at was there and was ensured that when we got there it would be ready to test drive since it would take us an hour to drive there. We texted Kevin, the car dealer, when we were thirty minutes out because he told us to text him when we were close to FURTHER ensure it would be ready. When we finally arrive the car was not ready. We waited around 30 minutes and were FURTHER FURTHER ensured that they were just about to pull it around. After Kevin comes back in and avoids eye contact with us he goes to talk with other people and at this point I am already getting mad. Do you want terrible service? Enjoy being jerked around/lied to? If so, you've found the perfect place. I'm a reasonable person. I try giving people the benefit of the doubt. If this is you, prepare for them to take advantage of you. You can expect: - Weeks to book service - Days and sometimes a week to pass before they work on your car - Friendly staff that tell you your car will be ready in the time you request but it never is - A call to let you know the issue(s) and that your car will be ready that day or the next day. Don't get excited--it's a lie. They mysteriously don't call you back on the day they claimed it would be ready. So you call them and they tell you it now won't be ready for days or after a weekend or that somehow the part they need isn't there and they still need to order it. It's all smoke and mirrors! - Long hold times on the phone as you're tossed about. Once you finally get someone, they don't know the answer or seem to make it up. When they try to BS you, and you call them out for the way they're treating you, all of a sudden they have a better answer. I'm selling my Hyundai. I never even considered getting a new one because of my years long experience with these people. This is what happens when you treat your service customers like crap. The salespeople may be terrific, but you lost my business before I even stepped foot inside your showroom. read more

This review is about the service department. We own a 2022 plug in hybrid. The engine light came on weeks ago. When I called to get it in it took FOREVER to get to a person. You get stuck in chatbot hell. When I managed to get someone they said I should bring it in right away. But because it would be a walk in I'd have to leave it with them. Which I couldn't do, because it's our only car and they were not offering a loaner. So the earliest appointment they could get me was today, a full three weeks after the engine light came on. I took it hoping to get in somewhere else earlier, but couldn't find anyone. So we go to drop it off today. And then we get a text saying they're gonna keep the car for several days. Even though this was an appointment made three weeks ago for an 8:30 AM drop off. Just to plug the car into the machine that will immediately give them whatever error code is causing the light. Completely unacceptable and we will never ever be back. read more

HONEST, CUSTOMER ORIENTED DEALER! In today's market of limited supply, this is the only Hyundai dealer in the area that was NOT marking up the prices of the vehicles and selling their vehicles at MSRP. One dealer in the area was marking up all Hyundais by $5,000 to $10,0000! I was so impressed that they had strong convictions not to take advantage of their customers during these strange times. Truly refreshing to see a car dealer whose value system was so customer oriented. This dealer aims to fill up the gas tank when you drive a new vehicle off the lot. The one I bought accidentally slipped through this process but our salesperson, Jay, sent us $50 in Shell gas cards along with a nice little note. Jay has many loyal customers and I'm sure it is well deserved! I'll be calling him in the future if I want to buy a Hyundai or Genesis vehicle. I'm sure Fitzgerald has many loyal repeat customers because of their honest culture. This is a business worth supporting. Highly recommended! read more

We used this service department for years. So did other family members. It was great, until the elder Mr Fitzgerald passed away. The new team? Condescending JERKS. Several months ago, I took our Santa Fe in mid-afternoon because the screen suddenly went blank, rendering the backup camera, GPS and entertainment useless. No other customer was there. There were 5-6 service people there. Two didn't want to look up from their phones, and the third finally sighed, listened and said to leave the vehicle there for up to a week for "diagnostics". Another chimes in that it would probably cost thousands to repair. I returned with my husband, and he got the same b.s. and blow off treatment. Yes systems can fail, but it was their general attitude that was so disappointing. Here's the kicker. We drove over the Hyundai in Alexandria, before dinner. A really nice and knowledgeable young woman in Service said, "have you tried a paperclip to reset it?" We laughed. Uh, no. She went to her desk and got one, and told us what to try. Bingo. The point? She cared about the customer experience and relationship, like they used to in Rockville. Alexandria is the family's new go-to dealership, read more

I had a great experience buying my car here. Matt was excellent. However, it's hard to recommend the service department. I have 5 years of routine maintenance included in my service plan. Yesterday I got an oil change, tire rotation, and cabin filter change. It took them 3 HOURS AND FORTY MINUTES to perform. My service manager was very nice and she eventually was able to get them to finish and return my car because I was rushing to another appointment, but that's simply an absurd amount of time for incredibly basic maintenance. Fitzgerald Hyundai Rockville - Car Dealers Near Me - Rockville, Maryland

This is a combined review of this Hyundai dealer, and Hyundai financing itself. While we love our new 2025 IONIQ 5, the actual "purchasing" process is *extremely* deceptive, and fault lies with both Hyundai financing proper, and this dealer's financing plus sales team for perpetuating such deception. It all starts with their sales teams *HARD* push to customers not to directly buy their EV cars outright, but instead temporarily lease for 3 months, to take advantage of the *reported* rebate of $12,500 from the company. They likely do this so they can convince you of a lower sticker price than they can actually provide. In actuality, the rebate is *approximately* $8,000 by the time you are actually allowed to buy the car outright, after having leased it from Hyundai and triggered the rebate. The reasons for this are many, and extremely difficult to catch in accounting-- so much so, that Hyundai proper and this dealership have repeatedly refused to document, on paper, the actual "buy out" amount of the vehicle to me. As in-- no one in the company or dealer are willing to provide, in writing, the itemization of the buyout quote. This is despite many, many efforts by me to get an explanation of how the cost was arrived out on the basis of my original signed lease, or the itemization of the buy out amount. In brief, it comes down to the charges you accrue due to the lease itself, and the crazy hidden fees-- multiple lease/title transaction fees, early buyout fees, the "rental" charges for the months you lease, etc. The dealer must surely know this, and Hyundai seems to be trying to hide it from customers. They tell you, "Just lease it for 3 months, you'll save $12,500" --but that is many thousands of dollars off. And, they go to great lengths NOT to engage with customers, such as myself, to seemingly hide this fact. Again, I literally cannot get anyone in Hyundai to give me an itemization of my buyout quote, starting with my signed contract, because of what I know it reveals about their practices. So-- while very happy with the car, I am VERY disappointed with the actual buying process, and believe they know how deceptive and inscrutable it is, and intentionally make it so that they can claim a lower sticker price than is actually the case. read more

We had a car in for routine service. Oil change and standard inspection. It took four hours. In addition , they were asked to replace the windshield wipers as two of them had rubber hanging by a thread. When the car was picked up the service f room stated that the inspection was done including the wipers. However the wipers were not changed. Which makes one wonder if the oil was even changed. We were asked if we wanted the car washed- and that seemed like a good idea. In addtion to the wipers not being changed the car looked like it was simply wetted down as all of the windows had water spots. read more

Hyundai told me there was a recall for my car. I made an appointment with Fitzgerald for today and had arranged a ride to and from. This was a long standing appointment and they confirmed with an email just yesterday. I got to the dealership today and the serviceman informed me that they just don't have the parts for this recall. Why didn't they cancel my appointment before I took off from work, arranged drivers and arrived there? At any time they could've saved me the hassle. I went to get my car serviced at this facility, and Chris Moran worked with me to get my vehicle up to date with maintenance. I asked him if he could check my dashboard wiring because a small device was sticking out from undeneath the steering wheel. . Once he and his crew were able to check the dashboard, he discussed the findings with me and made it seem like my car needed extensive and hard labor repairs by removing the entire dashboard and rewiring everything. He also promised me photos of the mess inside the dashboard to make a claim with the CarMax dealership, which he never provided even after I texted him to send them over; I never received a response. . I decided to go to a different hyundai dealership to get a second opinion. It turns out there was nothing wrong with the wiring, it just needed to be tethered a little tighter than it was initially. So they assembled and coiled them neatly neatly and tucked it back in my car. Since then I haven't had any problems. . We own a 2017 Santa Fe, which we bought at Fitzgerald's. All of a sudden no sound came from the radio, and we brought it in to the service department. They did a diagnostic test and charged us $220, fair enough, and identified the problem as a blown amplifier that needed to be replaced. They said the part would be $1500 and would take them two hours to remove the old one and install a new one which would result in a charge of $550, about $2000 all in all. When I got home I went online and found the OEM part at full retail for $850 about half of what they were charging. Note this was full retail from the OEM. This was not some secondhand or discount part. I ordered the part and having no particular skill in car repair or radio repair I removed the old amplifier and installed a new one in approximately 15 minutes. There were three easy to reach bolts that needed to be removed the wire harness that was unplugged and then plugged back into the new one. Fitzgerald was going to charge double the full retail price for the part and then either it's service department is as incompetent as can be if it was going to take their skilled professionals two hours to do what it took a rookie novice 15 minutes to do or they were simply overcharging by billing for two hours what was a 15 minute job. In any event, we certainly will never go back to the service department, where they grossly overcharge for parts and labor. PS I ended up buying the part on eBay for $350 and it works fine. read more
