I took my 2016 Hyundai in for regular maintenance getting ready for the winter. All fluid changes ect. Apprx 3 weeks later we started feeling the car "kick" every time we put it in drive gear. It seemed to get worse. My husband called explained the problem and set up an appointment for them to look at it. A few days after that, the car wouldn't go into gear at all. After towing the car to Pohanka, Keith was assigned our customer care advocate. He listened, explained the procedure & told me I'd get my diagnosistic fee back if it determined that the service previously received was at fault. They not only returned the fee, but also replaced the transmission with a brand new & absorbed 95% of the cost.. my total out of pocket was practically nothing. Keith, you and your team are awesome!! The best way to improve this location is to get rid of the parts and services department and just let this be a dealership to buy cars. There is a culture of dishonesty at this location in the back and no matter how much you remodel the building, the negativity will never go away. The service employees are dishonest, deceptive, dishonorable, and some are thieves. I have had them damage things multiple times and blame me for it when what was damaged wasn't before it was in their possession and one time a service employee stole money out of my car. You can buy a car if you want to but NEVER...EVER use the service department. They cannot be trusted at all and I believe the people inside the office of the service department knows the mechanics and service workers cannot not be trusted because anytime you call them out, those people inside get real quiet and start walking around to avoid being around the confrontation. read more

Also, noting that I tried to call the General Manager who asked me to call him in response to my reply, but the number just connects you to the main Pohanka Hyundai switchboard. There's no option to speak with the GM. Beware! Keith was kind and personable, but I left feeling disappointed and taken advantage of. I came in for a brake issue and paid over $1,051 for brake pads, rotor work, and an oil change on a 2016 Tucson -- with $697 in labor alone, higher than what friends pay at BMW dealerships. My invoice describes rear rotor replacement but no rotor part number appears anywhere on my paperwork, leaving me uncertain whether that work was actually performed. I was also steered toward starting a warranty claim process that I'm likely ineligible for as a second owner -- something that should have been disclosed before I went down that path. I trusted my Hyundai dealer to treat me fairly. Instead I felt upsold at every turn and unclear about what I actually paid for. I won't be back. read more

I purchased a vehicle from Pohanka Hyundai, Capital Heights on February 14, 2025, and traded in my 2023 Volkswagen ID.4. The bill of sale they issued has incorrect vehicle information -- specifically, the wrong VIN was listed, for a car that is currently owned by my husband and not even in my name. The car I traded in is now registered in VA under the VIN number for the car still in our possession. This isn't a minor typo. Errors like this can cause real problems with registration, title transfer, insurance, and taxes. I flagged it with the dealership immediately and have been trying to get it corrected for over a month. Since then: I've called, emailed, and sent items via UPS a number of times with no resolution. They have not communicated with me, and I am being told nothing. No corrected paperwork has been provided. I have since filed complaints with the MD Investigations Unit, the BBB, the MD Attorney General's Office, the VA Board of Appeals, and Pohanka Hyundai National Consumer Affairs. All of these agencies require at least 30 days to respond. In the meantime, we have a car sitting at home with dead tags that we are paying for and cannot drive, and no one at Pohanka Hyundai is taking responsibility for their own error. If you're considering buying from Pohanka Hyundai, check every detail on your bill of sale before you leave the lot -- and be prepared to fight for basic follow-through if something's wrong. A dealership that can't get a legal document correct, and won't respond when asked to fix it, is not one I'd trust with a purchase this size. I'll update this review if/when it's resolved, but as of now: proceed with caution. read more

I took my vehicle in for service for jerking in reverse, turning hard and ESC light on. Also needed seat trim fixed. None of my issues were addressed. After doing a diagnostic test, they said they found no codes for said issues. They proceeded to install mounts and fix trim. This cost me well over $3000. I picked up vehicle and found same problems still there. Went back and talked to manager and mechanic only to be given a song and dance about what was and wasn't done. I requested service for non repairs but was told all issues were addressed. I have emailed, called and spoke with Service Advisor only to be given the run around. I have been persistent about getting a resolution for this issue. Manager text me saying they would pay for diagnostic test at Jeep to find out what's wrong with car. If they couldn't fix it in first place why take my money and try to convince me otherwise. I'm totally dissatisfied with this company and there unsavory practices and tactics. After all is said and done, I was offered a partial refund. Still doesn't fix my car but that's a start! read more

While I was waiting I took a personal call on my cellphone and walked outside. Excellent customer service! I took my car in for a Hyundai recall and oil change. My Service Advisor, Andrea Haskins, Informed me that Pohanka was currently offering a better deal on the oil change and filter service that would save me more than using the coupon I brought in. Additionally, she Informed me there were a few other recalls that I knew nothing about. She advised me that they would perform a full diagnostic on the vehicle to identify any other issues, and I'm glad they did. The diagnostic revealed the reason why the oil indicator was coming on was a bit more serious than a simple oil change. Ms. Haskins called immediately to let me know what the technician found and get permission to proceed with the repair. Luckily, Pohanka was able to make the repair before it damaged the engine, and complete all of the recalls. Ms. Haskins stayed in touch and kept me informed throughout the repairs. She also made every effort to keep my repair costs reasonable. This was my first visit to Pohanka Hyundai at Capitol Heights and it was very impressive. The video updates on repairs they offer, the excellent customer service, and overall value made this a very pleasant experience! I will definitely return for servicing in the future, and would not hesitate to recommend their service to others. read more

Paid $1.3K to "fix" engine light issues, engine light still on and left the dealership with no solution because they couldn't figure out how to resolve it. Service representative was great, however services actually rendered did not resolve my engine light issue, which is still on by the way. No loaner car option after repeatedly keeping the vehicle in a two week span of "diagnostics and figuring out the problem". The least you could do was provide one, especially if you wanted to convince me to upgrade. I would've actually purchased a newer car, had I been taken care of a customer. This leaves me a as a Hyundai customer having to go to another dealership and having to pay to figure out the issue. This location did not go out their way to ensure that I left with a solution, even after paying for services. Highly disappointed but not surprised. I will be upgrading my vehicle at a different location. The time yall spend trying to flirt and look at women, you should be spending it on how to make sure the problem is resolved read more
