The Vixens of Volstead brunch is a must-visit for fans of Volstead and the Vixens! The show was fantastic, and we loved the sandwich offered at the pop-up food stall. However, there are a few suggestions for improvement. While they're pushing the drinks, it would be great to have more nibbles available. After we all devoured the sandwich, it would have been nice to have other options. We understand the limitations of the makeshift stove but since we came thinking about "brunch" and thought we will have other things to nibble on while waiting for the performance to start. One thing to note is the timing. We arrived at 12 pm when the doors opened, but the show didn't start until around 1:40 pm. They advertised that show starts at 1pm. The first round of performances seemed to be focused mainly on gathering tips, but things picked up in the second + round/s, and it turned into a real show then! The dog-friendly show and venue are also fantastic additions, and I'll definitely be back, but next time, I'll know what to expect and come prepared!

Love the area out back--multiple bars to keep drink lines short. Popped by here killing an hour before dinner around 7pm on a Thursday. They had a cool band playing, and then some other stage antics--very nice as I wasn't expecting free entertainment. Dog friendly and plenty of space to find a table for groups. Maybe I just lucked into a good night, but I enjoyed it. If the food truck, Bummer Burrito, is good and I have just as good a time and service as today my next visit, I'll edit my review to 5 stars...wait...Ill give 5 now and if things turn sour next time lower it to 4...can't imagine anything less.

Tuesday nights they've been having DJ Ulovei play on them patio lately. He's billed as "Latin Rock" and his selections (and fashion sense) have a distinct retro rockabilly flair. It's the perfect setting for getting dinner from their food truck. 5 - 7 food is half off, and I almost always get the Matrix Burger and Sriracha Ranch Tots.

BEWARE of your MONEY Nice atmosphere and great music. But lousy ass robbing bartenders! This was the first bar of the night that my husband and I entered. I paid for a beer and I asked for an Irish trashcan. The bartender did not know how to make the Irish trashcan so he gave me a Long Island iced tea with sprite. I tried to inform him that that is not what the drink looks nor taste like. If you are unsure on how to make the drink just say you don't know! I remember how much that check was because that was the only thing I paid for the ENTIRE night. My check was $23.82 and I was NOT tipping for a beer and nasty drink that I left full to the brim at the bar. Thanks to Cash app I get notifications whenever there has been a change in a charge. So to the thief that is so unsure on how to make an Irish trashcan you owe me two dollars. I don't care if it was a penny you don't take money from me especially if you don't know how to make a decent drink!

The "bartender girl" that serves outside will charge you $1.00 of convenience FEE if you order less than $10.00 hahaha... I ordered a white wine with a great/friendly bartender man inside and he charged me $7.00 with NO convenience fee. After I ordered the same white wine inside, apparently she switched places with the other bartender guy. When I asked her for my check she had charged me $8.00 for the wine + $1.00 of convenience fee... Letsss just say things didn't get pretty so she gave me my $2.00 back and she didn't get a TIP!

The atmosphere is always friendly, relaxed, and easy to settle into whether you're there for a quick drink or hanging out for the night. The drinks are consistently great, and they also have really solid weekday food specials. The sliders and tots are definitely the go-to items on the menu and always hit the spot after a few drinks. One thing I especially appreciate is how much effort they put into the themed décor during Christmas and Halloween. It really adds personality to the space and makes coming back during the holidays feel fun and memorable every year. Just an overall great neighborhood bar with good vibes and a lot of character.

It's not always about drinking. In fact, quite often I'll do mocktails, water, or soda. It's about community and friendship. The vibe at NC can't fully be expressed in words. It has to be experienced. The staff treat locals and tourists like friends. And, if you're lucky enough, you actually become friends. They're like a family. Same can be said about patrons, whether regulars, sometimers, or tourists, everyone feels the love. Everyone just gets it! They have some of the best cocktails around. The vibe is effortlessly retro, with warm lighting, vintage stripes, cozy booths, and a playlist full of R&B and soul that sets the tone for a laid-back night. I came in for happy hour (which goes until 8pm--major win) and had the Tropical Depression, a passion fruit hurricane-style cocktail that was way better than its name implies. Their frozen drinks are also a hit--flavorful, strong, and dangerously easy to sip. They also do Jell‑O shots if you're feeling nostalgic (or just want something cheap and fun). The bar is small but super welcoming, with a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating. The patio is shaded and breezy, perfect for summer nights. There's even a pool table and a big screen outside if you're into low-key games or catching part of the game. Staff was friendly and efficient--shout out to the bartenders who kept the drinks flowing without any attitude. That said, it's a small space, so depending on the night, it can feel either perfectly mellow or a little too quiet. Not a party bar, but a great pre-game or chill hangout spot. If you're looking for a low-key lounge with strong drinks, good tunes, and an easygoing crowd, Low Down Lounge should definitely be on your East Side rotation.

The first thing you'll notice is that this place fully commits to its weird, offbeat personality. The chopped-up baby dolls inside the Airstream lounge were delightfully creepy and fit the vibe perfectly. Between the vintage Christmas lights, bizarre decorations, and over-the-top hunting lodge aesthetic, there's something new to notice everywhere you look. Unsettling for some inviting for others at the same time. The main bar is exactly what I want from a neighborhood dive. Dollar bills stapled to the walls, dim lighting, and a crowd that looked like a mix of regulars and first-timers just hanging out. The backyard patio is much bigger than it looks from the front, with plenty of seating if you want to take your drinks outside. I kept it simple with a Lone Star and then tried the frozen Vietnamese coffee, which was a great way to cool off after a long day in the Texas heat. Both hit the spot. If you appreciate dive bars that don't take themselves too seriously but still create a memorable atmosphere, this is worth adding to your Austin list. It's weird in all the right ways.
