I'd like everyone to pull up a seat. This is a tale about how you ruin customer loyalty and create detractors to your business with a poor experience that ends up in a public forum. I took a rather small set of clothing to Vogue Cleaners. Now this isn't my first time there and I've spent a considerable amount of $ over the years. My thought is that you do get what you pay for and they are certainly one of the pricier options out there. They offer 24-hour service so my thought was that if I dropped of my clothes on TUESDAY morning, surely everything would be done by THURSDAY afternoon. Previous experiences and expectations aligned and since there was no word from Vogue on Tuesday or Wednesday, I was expecting a Thursday pickup without issue. Mind you the order was relatively small - no more than 10 pieces, all tops of varying materials but nothing unusual. THURSDAY AFTERNOON Vogue Cleaners calls me to inform me that one piece had discoloration BUT it would be ready by pick time (4:30PM). They called to confirm if I was okay with the timing. I was. Due to scheduling, I arrived at the cleaners at 3:45pm to discover not 1 but 2 pieces would not be ready at all on Thursday but would be available Friday after 9AM. Wait what? I decided to pay my bill and on the drive home I called Vogue and stated my disappointment in their service and requested a partial refund only to be met with an argumentative and aggressive attendant who spent 10 mins blaming ME for the situation: - I should have told them it was a "rush" job - They were doing ME a favor by taking extra time to get things cleaned So let's review shall we? They process orders every morning. I told them I would be there to pick up my clothes on Thursday. Nowhere is it posted on the receipt "please tell us it's a rush order if you want your items on time." Why did I receive a call status hours before the pick up time that all would be ready only to discover not one but two items wouldn't be ready. And when asking them to be responsible for their actions? It's the customer's fault. Got it. This isn't about the money, it's about business. Partial refund would have run you what $10? Now it's going to cost the business a whole lot more because I'm not spending another $ at this establishment. And they're pricey? No sir. No ma'am. If you can't be trusted with a few shirts, imagine if this was a suit for a business meeting or a wedding or some other major event. When businesses show you who they are, believe em. I took my peacoat to be dry cleaned last Monday. While dropping it off, the woman noticed there was a small hole on the interior of my left pocket as something had dropped through the lining. I asked if it could potentially be sewed as well & was told they could have the cleaning & alteration done the following Wednesday by 5pm. I was quoted $35 for the cleaning & told they could call me with a quote for the alteration once the tailor came in the next day. She stated they would not start the alteration work prior to calling me, giving me an updated quote, & me giving an ok to proceed with the work. The work week passes & I've received no phone calls. I decide to follow up with them on my lunch break Friday afternoon to see if I can just bypass the alteration & just do the cleaning if it would mean getting my coat back sooner since it had been 40 degrees that entire week. When I called the woman I dropped the coat off to agreed and said they could have the coat cleaned by Monday instead. Thirty minutes later, I have a missed call & voicemail from them saying that the tailor had actually already processed the alteration & that the cost would be $20 for the alteration, $35 for the cleaning & $55 in total. There was no apology offered for their mistake in jumping the gun on the repair prior to me giving the okay for it. When I went to pick up my coat yesterday, I asked to speak with the owner, Avni who doubled down on this poor service. Before I could finish explaining why I was frustrated at the lack of communication & fully expecting the business to take ownership for their mistake, she cuts me off to tell me that things like this have actually happened before & that other customers where understanding... Your business habitually altering customers' clothes prior to getting the consent you state you will request is not the flex you think it is. I also am not those other people. I let her know I don't think I should be responsible for the alteration charge since I did not authorize it. She then offers $5 off as if that makes up for anything. I tell her I am not paying the alteration fee & that she or whoever prematurely had the tailor sew the pocket to pay the fee. She scoffs and asks if I want a free alteration and if I don't want the tailor to be paid, then says fine, the tailor can come in the next business day & undo the alteration... I refuse & tell her I need my coat THAT day. At this point it is beyond clear she does not plan to take any ownership for THEIR mistake or offer a meaningful customer service resolution such as a future business credit equal to the cost of the alteration, SOMETHING, I mean a "we're sorry" is FREE so I end the call. I pay the full cost of $55. Mind you this alteration is bulky, tailor stitched interior pocket together then did not resew & attach the pocket to the interior. This was my first experience with this business but Avni's piss poor professionalism & customer service skills, & the mid tailoring ensured it would be my last. read more

I was not satisfied with the One Price Cleaners and Barry Regent is so far from my Hyde Park home. I asked a friend for a referral and he recommended Vogue Cleaners. I was so dissatisfied with the service. I took a linen suit in for cleaning. I was charged $22 for both pieces which was comprable to Barry Regent pricing. When I got home and took the suit out of the packaging I noticed it looked very wrinkled. I know linen is hard to press, but I had never had this suit returned looking like it had not been serviced at all. I decided not to take it back due to a fear they would mess it up. I will never go back or recommend this cleaners. They want to charge Barry Regent prices for One Price Quality. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I brought my wedding dress in to have it cleaned. They called me 2 weeks later to tell me they had sent it to an outside company that couldn't clean. I was never told they were sending it to a 3rd party. I have received a call saying the donation truck was on the way to get my clothing. Most importantly, they do just an average job of cleaning. Horrible customer service! Mrs. Kim has a bad attitude. I have been going to this cleaners in the past few Months. The lady was nice the first time, that encouraged me to kept going there with my laundry. Even though their Prices aren't cheap. They overcharged me for one of my blouse - $15.00 and I asked nicely for a discount, Mr. Kim was nice and gave me a discount, but Mrs. Kim will not have it, she was super angry came to warn me can't bring my stuff over there and ask for discount. Horrible service, unstable owners. My wife had an expensive shirt cleaned here, which they managed to ruin by shrinking. BTW, clothes should never shrink when dry cleaned unless the machinery is defective and water gets into the works. While Mr. Kim didn't deny what had happened, he never apologized, but offered to give my wife $50 (it was a $200 shirt used for interviews and work). We were very hesitant to take this deal, since the shirt was only a few months old, but grudgingly decided to accept. When my wife returned later in the day to collect the money and the shirt, however, things had changed. Mrs. Kim became irate and accused my wife of lying about the shirt in order to "steal" from them and "hurt their business." She refused to give my wife the promised recompense OR THE SHIRT! Only by standing there (holding our infant son) and demanding that Mrs. Kim honor the original deal and return my wife's legal property--in full view of customers--did Mrs. Kim relent, berating wife all the time. I have lived in Hyde Park for 40 years, and my family has used this cleaner for much of that time. I've put up with their mediocre work--shoddy alterations, sub-par cleaning--because they are a local business. I now realize that they are not only incompetent, but also malicious and unstable. I feel bad to give such a bad review to such a stylish good looking owner but I have no choice. I recently moved to Chicago and I work in an environment where I'll need to wear a shirt and tie everyday so I have a lot of dry cleaning per week. First time I came here I was very satisfied even though their prices aren't as cheap as a place I would find as a regular place I would go to. A couple of days after I was suppose to attend an event in the evening so I needed a same day service for specific shirt I needed. I called at 8 am and they told me they would be able to do a same day service as long as I bring my stuff before 10 am. I showed up 5 minutes after calling, dropped my shirt off and made sure to mention I am the person who called earlier and would want the same day service. I go back at 5 pm to pick my shirt up and they didn't have it ready. In fact they said it would be ready in 6 days! I explained to them how I called this morning and came in for the same day service but the gentleman there told me he remembers someone calling but was lying to my face saying I didn't say I want the same day service when I came in and he didn't know I am the guy who called! No effort was done to resolve the issue such as calling the dry cleaning company and asking to at least process my shirt ASAP. No compensation was given such as free service for the specific shirt I gave them. Most importantly no apology was offered! A simple apology and accepting they made a mistake would've made this review a 4-5 stars and kept me as a customer. Mistakes happen but as a business owner you would need to own up to your mistake, apologize and try your best to satisfy your customer. read more

Never thought I'd rhapsodize about a dry cleaner from across the country, but Vogue was the perfect local cleaner. Good alterations, never lost anything, knew me and the kids by name. Never looked at me like I was some kind of crazy cat lady when I'd bring in black clothes covered in grey cat hair because I'd been too lazy to hang something up and one of the beasts had slept on it. Did their level best with impossible stains and had the honesty to say "Give up. It will never come out" when the occasion called for it. Great value, great people.
