Edgar was very polite, personable, communicative, and responsive. He came out for a walkthrough timely. The cleaning on the other hand was just the opposite. There were 3 ladies. They were in the home for maybe 4-5 hours and nothing was truly accomplished. They were hired for a post construction deep clean to prepare for a move in. Although the ladies were kind, the work ethic wasn't up to par. One of the ladies was mopping with a dirty mop head and dirty water. Another lady was using Murphys oil on hardwood rather than actually cleaning the hardwood and an actual cleaner knows that Murphys oil can ruin wood over time. The walls had not even been dusted so I'm honestly not sure what they had done in the 4-5 hours. I followed with Edgar and informed him that they could leave early because it didn't feel like a good fit for the required work and the clock was still running. Edgar informed me it would be the full charge (despite even 1/3 of the job not being done) plus $75. I called him to let him know that wouldn't work for me based on actual video footage that was obtained that showed this cleaning wasn't being done properly nor with the proper sanitation practices. Edgar was upset and annoyed in his tone, but ultimately settled with what I thought was fair for their time versus the actual work. I offered to send him the video but he didn't care to see it. I did send him a few photos to show him for educational purposes for his workers. Golden touch came recommended by a friend and had 5 star reviews on google so I had a better outcome in mind. Unfortunately I can't recommend this company. read more

I came here to take my couch coushin I had a zipper repair and they were able to repair it with no issues. All within a reasonable price compared to other places that quoted me. The service was great, efficient, and quick. A place I would go back to again for whatever I need. read more

First off, I didn't want to put any stars. They have it set up to where you have to put at least one star to even post. These people are so disrespectful and incompetent. They never get the job done. I feel sorry for anyone else who brings anything to them. They bleach my clothes one time. Leave burn marks on other clothes and this experience is so trash. I pay these people well over $400 to do my dry cleaning and yet it's something with them every-time I come here read more

Cleaning is ok. Service is ok. Prices for the services are too expensive. Check it out.

If you want to drop off your perfectly fine clothes and have them returned to you like this and then get the suggestion that you should go online and see if the manufacturer has a sale so you can buy that article of clothing again, then definitely go to Golden Touch Cleaners. I would give this "No Stars" if I could. When I asked how these spots got on my dress I was told "I don't know," "I don't know what to tell you," "I can dye it black or navy," and "maybe Banana Republic has a sale so you can buy it again if you like the color." Really?! And she was completely nonchalant about it, like I was the one who was crazy for being upset. I had to settle for having her dye it because this dress was not cheap and I want some wear out of it. I'm very upset and they handled this. I advise you not to go there. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I feel the need to say something. I started bringing shirts to launder to Golden Touch Cleaners a few years ago. No problem, the shirts were laundered and pressed just fine. In the last year, they have started to dry clean the men's cotton dress shirts I bring in instead of laundering them. I thought that I might have been distracted or something when I brought them in the last time, so I tried Golden Touch one more time. I asked specifically requested that the shirts be Laundered with light starch, the front desk person actually argued with me, saying that they should be dry cleaned. She finally agreed to launder them and even asked about starch. When I picked them up, they were dry cleaned. The fact that they charge 3 times more for dry cleaning than laundry might have something to do with it... read more

Never again!! I dropped off a shirt and a dress on a Monday. I let them know that there was no rush, so they said it will be ready on Thursday after 4. I went there on Thursday, after 4, and only my shirt was ready (or so I thought). They asked me to come back tomorrow for the dress, and I said OK (no problem/ I will let that slide). But, what made me upset was when they brought out my shirt and there was a stain on the back of it. I pointed it out to the lady, and she took it down and started picking the stain (as if it was just a little dirt). Clearly she could not get it off, so she told me to come back tomorrow to get the shirt as well. I gave them a whole weekend; I came back Monday. The dress was finally ready, but, not the shirt. The lady handed me the shirt, and would you believe the same stain was on there. I pointed it out to this lady (this was a different lady from the last time). She told me to, "come back tomorrow." However, this lady did put colored tape on the stain to point it out to the cleaner. Tuesday, after 4 days, the shirt was ready without the stain. read more

Heard rumors about the prez going here for his laundry and guess what, I just had to try their services. Pretty much gave them the acid test, Indian curry spilled on a cream colored shirt. I have no idea what they did but the stains were all gone and service was right on time. I have also used their alteration services and they do good job of that too at affordable prices. Here is a cleaner who is a keeper! read more

If there was a zero star option I would have selected it. We rarely use dry cleaning services but entrusted this business with a dance costume for my daughter as a special item. We were not going to have it fully cleaned but the owner recommended that it be cleaned and not just pressed. This business and their offsite cleaning factory ruined her outfit a few days before a performance. The owner was Indifferent and blamed the material for getting damaged. She would not give me the name of the cleaning factory and offered meager compensation. It's a shame as we have used them when we have needed a tailor over the years. We will no longer go here and if asked will tell people to avoid this place. read more

I have used this cleaners twice before for a press and they got the job done. Nothing else to say:)

It is my conclusion that this cleaners is charging for "dry cleaning " but only "laundering " items they can get away with. I've asked three separate times to fold the sweaters that I bring in for dry cleaning, I don't even want the hanger...just folded and in a bag. Each time I pick up my order, my sweaters are hanging....like a shirt would hang. Why would a dry cleaner hang a sweater like that, it pulls the materials and ruins the item I paid them to take care of. It also leaves shoulder bumps, again something you'd go to a dry cleaner to correct. They know better, they're either lazy or content ripping off their customers. read more

I hate to leave a local small business a bad review during this time, but this was outrageous. I have been coming here for years for cleaning and simple alterations. This time I brought them a pair of pants and they repaired them incorrectly. They said come back in a few days and they will fix it. Came back a few days later, guess what, not fixed. Same conversation, came back a few days again and once again not fixed. And then finally came back one more time, and I was told yet again oh we will get it right this time, come back a few days from now. After three weeks and three return visits, I just left. After them charging me full price!!! They lost my business forever no matter how close they are to my house. If you have a problem with anything that is done here, you're not going to be able to resolve it well. They definitely don't care about making sure the customer is happy. read more

I wore the tailored pants yesterday. They were great. Neither did my ankles hang out nor did I trod upon my hem. Thank you golden touch!

If I could give this cleaners a ZERO i would. This is the absolute worse experience I have ever had with a dry cleaners. I brought a pair of white pants to them. When I gave it to the woman I specifically said "the side of the pants is black and grey suede so please make sure you take the proper measure so that my pants are not destroyed." 2 days later I go back for my pants and thankfully I opened the plastic to look at them before i left the store, because there was black stains all over my entire pant. When I brought my pants there, there were NO stains. The woman at the counter took my money and still kept my pants saying she will have them cleaned again and they would be returned to me the next day. It has now been a week and they keep saying my pants are not ready every day I call or go into this awful establishment. The pants they ruined have only been worn once and cost over $300. I will be reporting Golden Touch Cleaners to the Better Business Bureau and taking the appropriate measures if my issue is not resolved within the next week. They have not been apologetic or kind about the destruction of my pants. WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS. read more

I actually couldn't wait to do this review because I wanted to save others from a bad experience. I have some old well made irreplaceable coats that I took here to get cleaned. They well suppose to call me to follow up and after playing that game two months later i just took my stuff. They also put a hole in the coat that wasn't there before and told me I lied about it. They fixed the hole but repeatedly told me how big a favor they were doing for me. I am going to look for more specialty cleaners for my repair needs. My clothes that were cleaned here were fine. I think they just aren't good at the additional things. Perhaps they are but there response time is horrid. read more

I needed to get my suit dry-cleaned for a job interview, and my friend who used to live in Hyde Park recommended Golden Touch Cleaners. She even said that Barack Obama used to go here for his dry cleaning, but who knows lol. But the service was excellent; they did my suit much quicker than I had anticipated and the price was extremely fair. I also had some nice small talk with the owner, whom wished me luck at my interview. read more

As a philosophy major, why not? I am a specialist on doing things on very tight schedule; not due to the massive amount of work I have to get done, not even any sort of family engagement, might just be due to the nature of the field. Few weeks ago I had a big conference, held at U Chicago, coming and I desperately needed my suit to get dry cleaned. Not surprisingly it is my only suit, and I was going for the old maxim: if you can't dazzle them with your mind, dazzled them with your looks. It is, probably, the only expensive piece of clothing I own, it is a very nice Ermenegildo Zegna suit my mom got me as graduation present. I was running out of time as the conference was on a friday afternoon and I was still not done with my paper, or my suit thursday morning. I decided to take a brake from my paper and asked around what options I had dry cleaning-wise, a colleague suggested Golden Touch. I ran as fast as I could, and after giving me a kind yet severe look, the lady in charge took my suit, examined it, felt bad for me and said: Hun, next time you have to give me more time, come pick it up tomorrow at 10. A little bit more back story, the last time I wore that suit was to a wedding, it was a pretty hard party. However, once the hour glass struck 10 I was there ready to be disappointed, for I understood that what I asked for was merely impossible, it is a great thing the people at Golden Touch didn't feel the same way. My suit has never looked better, it was clean, fresh, and just amazing... can't say the same thing about my paper, but the suit was what mattered then. I strongly recommend Golden touch, they are efficient, nice, professional, and very affordable for the service they offer. read more

Such a disaser, most horrible dry cleaner ever!!! I got my coat dry clean there. It is a new coat, navy blue with collar inside lighter color, very nice coat, I have wear it only two months. After the dry clean at this place, the collar and some other parts get dyed by difference colors, blue and brown, looks very disgusting. I went to the shop, and then the horrible story begins: The owner refused to apologize and being very rude, very rude, he tried to find every excuse he can, like: Initially, he said: 1. The coat is first time wash. ( But the dying is unevenly distributed.) 2. The special washing way of machine causes that.( I did not get it) After he looked at the label inside the coat, he said: 3. The brand of the coat has the dying issue. (Believe me it is a very good brand, the name begins with "B".) 4. The coat is made in China. He said all clothes from China have the dying issue. He even tried to imply that I did something to make the clothes dirty. After so many exuses, I just want to get my money back and I did but after such a long unhappy conversiation. I will never ever visit this cleaner. People in Hyde Park are very nice, I think the owner of the cleaner is taking advantage of that and offering such a terrible service. Guys, let's refuse to the terrible service by our action. read more

I LOVE this place. I live in Little Italy, which has many dry cleaners and stuff, but none do as well work as these guys. They fixed up this one dress I needed cleaned and "beautified" rather quickly and they're also affordable. The clerk people are also knowledgeable and rather nice as well. I didn't feel unwelcome or out of place by any means. Since my first visit, I have used them at least 3-4 other times and will continue to use them. It's a bit further than I'd normally go for cleaning and such but it's very worth it. Good price, quick service, amazing results. I couldn't ask for better honestly. 5 stars! Keep up the great work!! read more

BEWARE!!!! Based on service and their inability to "clean" my garments, or rather were very effective as destroying them, this is the worst dry cleaner I have ever been to in my life! Because the president had pictures of having frequented the place, I thought it was a reliable dry cleaner--wrong! Here's what happened: I brought two D&G brand new designer dresses (several hundred $$) to be cleaned before wearing them. Both were totally destroyed when I picked them up: The pink one had black dye seeped from the zipper into the garment fabric all along the torso (looked like a zebra). The black crepe one had actual areas of burned/charred fabric throughout the dress. And they demanded I pay for both! I went to walgreens across the street, bought black dye, and stated that they could at least try and dye my now pink-turned-splotchy gray dress to black. Apparently, that was too much to ask, instead they dyed it various shades of gray and black. The dresses are in the process of being donated to charity--maybe someone can use them as washrags? Overall, I am beyond disappointed and frankly angry with how incapable this establishment was... If I could give them a minus rating, it would be well deserved. read more

Disappointing service. In from out of town, dropped off suit, tie and shirt as they said they'd have ready by 4:30pm for my 7pm event downtown. Driver was late, suit didn't come until 5:30pm, staff unsympathetic. Late to my event, wouldn't have dropped off here had I known and would have found other source. (While waiting here that hour, watched two other customers with unsatisfactory experience: one with a new stain on pants, another with timing issue). read more

NEVER EVER will my Mom take her clothes to this cleaners. First of all, there was poor customer service. The cashier looked like she had been in a fist fight by the face, guess she was upset about that moving slow. Went in the back, didn't bring out all items, had to be asked where are the rest of the clothes. Secondly charged my Mom an extra 2 dollars stating that when clothes were dropped off the attendent priced it wrong. Lastly there is a huge rip in my Mom's skirt. They made a point to put a sign up stating that they weren't to be held responsible for Any mistakes. Are you kidding me. Never going back!! read more

Moved to Hyde Park a couple years ago so was looking for a new tailor to take in the waistband of my jeans. I couldn't be happier! read more

I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but I figured I'd have to say something. My cat pissed on my comforter and I thought I would take it to Golden Touch. I figured since Obama went here it would be of top quality. I got my comforter returned still smelling somewhat like piss, with holes all throughout my comforter because of the clothes pins put throughout it. I still don't even know HOW in the hell they managed to shove the clothes pins in in a way that I can't even get it out of the comforter without ripping or making the hole bigger. They ruined my 200 dollar comforter. Never again. read more

my first ever visit in which i trusted this cleaner despite the reviews but they provo's lot of bad reviews right. i brought in two garments on the 22nd of november in 2021. it was a plaid pea coat trimmed with leather and a chanel pleaded skirt $30. i returned on the 9th of dec. i failed to check my items over for there was a taxi waiting. when i got to the crib i looked over and the leather patches were both unattached to my coat on both shoulder's area and the skirt wasn't pleaded anymore. i was heated and called six minutes before closing. i explained the situation and the nice lady told me to call/come the next day. i called the next day 30 minutes after opening and explained again to another young lady "Jasmine ". Jasmine was nice and sympathetic. she let me know the owner name " miss chow" and that she will be in the next day which was saturday. i called before noon and spoke to miss chow and she wanted to see it. upon arrival i stated that all i wanted was my patches back on the coat. she said no, i said then i wanted my money back and she said no to that too. she said she was sorry and some other stuff in which i couldn't understand and didn't care to all i wanted was the leather patches back. still no satisfaction. i am disabled and don't need more stress! i kindly said "im sorry too", took my coat off the counter a walked out. lesson learn is all that i can chop it up to. i will never return to this place and do not recommend. check reviews and go with your fit feeling. Mistakes happen. But this dry cleaner will go out of their way to fix those mistakes.
